The p u r p o s e o f t h i s i n v e s t i g a t i o n was t o d e t e r m i n e t h e e f f e c t i v e n e s s o f horm one s p r a y s i n i n c r e a s i n g t h e s e t o f to m a to e s u n d e r p o o r f r u i t - s e t t i n g c o n d i t i o n s .

A s t u d y was a l s o made o f f r u i t s e t u n d e r c o n t r o l l e d greenhouse c o n d itio n s to d e te rm in e i f a r e l a t i o n s h i p e x i s t e d b e tw e e n hormone t r e a t m e n t s and h i g h t e m p e r a t u r e s . S e e d le s s f r u i t s o f te n o c c u r f o llo w in g th e a p p l i c a t i o n o f hormone s p r a y s to t o m a to f l o w e r s ev e n when p o l l i n a t i o n has o cc u rred .
