Introduction

The hot months of the year are here again with the sun blazing, the time when we are seeking relief from the heat of the day! Perhaps you are enjoying a family backyard barbecue, with children and adults alike looking for something to cool them down. Why not serve your loved ones some healthy and yummy homemade sorbet. Sorbet is a perfect dish to serve to your friends and family on a hot summers' day. People of all ages enjoy indulging in a bowl of sorbet; we are never too old to love partaking in this heavenly ice-cold treat! It will be considered an extra-special treat to your loved ones in them, knowing that your two loving hands created it from beginning to end! We all love to eat good foods, but most of us have a particular soft spot for homemade cuisine. Homemade foods seem to have a level of their own when it comes to the quality of the flavour or taste of the dish. Without a doubt, I would place the collection of my favourite sorbet recipes right up there! You can use these sorbet recipes as a base—add more ingredients to suit your taste and create your special sorbet! It looks like another hot day out there; I think it is time to get cracking and get some sorbet made up!

Dark Chocolate Cherry Sorbet

Here is a chocolate sorbet recipe that is very refreshing while at the same time is rich and creamy! Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 5 minutes Servings: 4 Ingredients: 4-ounces dark chocolate 2 cups black cherries, fresh and pitted 2 tablespoons of sugar 1 cup water Directions: Pour your water along with sugar into a small saucepan, then bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir in your chocolate and mix well to combine.

Remove mixture from heat and allow to cool. Once the mixture has cooled, add it to your ice cream maker. Churn mixture according to your ice cream makers’ manufacturers instructions. When the churning process is almost complete, add the pitted cherries. Serve the sorbet right away or store it in an airtight freezer-safe container.

Lychee Sorbet

Lychee is not a very common fruit, but this sweet and crunchy fruit makes for a delicious sorbet! Prep time: 12 minutes Cook time: 0 minutes Servings: 6 Ingredients: 1 cup sugar 4 cups canned lychees 1 cup water 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 tablespoons honey Directions: Add ingredients into your blender and pulse until smooth. Add your mixture into your ice cream maker, and follow the manufacturer's

instructions. Once the churning process is complete, freeze the mixture for 4 hours or until you achieve the consistency you want. You can serve immediately or store sorbet in an airtight freezer-safe container until you are ready to serve and enjoy!

Coconut Mojito Sorbet

A perfect creamy and fragrant sorbet that is still a nice light dessert! Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 5 minutes Servings: 2 Ingredients: 3 tablespoons sugar 1 cup coconut milk ¼ cup mint leaves, chopped juice of 1 lime zest of 1 lime Directions: Mix your coconut milk along with mint and sugar in a small pot over medium heat. Bring your mixture to a boil, then remove from heat. Allow the mixture to infuse for about 2 ½ hours.

Strain and discard the mint leaves. Mix in the lime juice and zest, then pour the mixture into your ice cream maker. According to the manufacturer's instructions, begin the churning process. Pineapple & Mango Sorbet

Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 0 minutes Servings: 2 Ingredients: 1 cup mango, peeled and diced 2 cups pineapple, peeled and cut into small pieces ½ cup water 2 tablespoons honey Directions: In your blender, add the four ingredients to it and pulse until smooth. Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 5 minutes Servings: 4 Ingredients: 2 cups cranberry juice 1 cup frozen cranberries 1 cup water ½ cup sugar Directions: Add your sugar along with water to a saucepan over medium heat, then bring to a boil. Simmer sugar water for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and allow to cool.

In your blender, puree the frozen cranberries with cranberry juice. Add in the sugar mixture and stir to combine. Add your mixture to your ice cream maker, and perform the churning process according to the manufacturer's instructions. Plum Sorbet

A plum sorbet recipe with a distinctive flavour that will delight your tastebuds! Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 10 minutes Servings: 4 Ingredients: 1 lb. Ripe plums, sliced in half 2 tablespoons sugar 1 cup water 1 tablespoon lemon juice Directions: Add your plums into a pot with water and cover. Add the lemon juice and sugar, bring the mixture to a boil, and then simmer for 10 minutes. Once the fruits are soft, remove the pot from heat and let it cool.

Rhubarb 1 cup water 1 teaspoon rose water 2 tablespoons lemon juice Directions: In a small pan, mix your water, lemon juice, sugar, and chopped Rhubarb. Bring your sorbet mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 5 minutes, or until your Rhubarb is soft.

Remove the pan from heat and allow it to cool, then add in the rose water. Prep time: 8 minutes Cook time: 10 minutes Servings: 4 Ingredients: 2/3 cup sugar ½ cup lemon juice 4 cups water 1 tablespoon culinary lavender, dried Directions: Mix your water and sugar in a pot over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce your heat setting to low. Simmer mixture for 5 minutes. Remove your mixture from heat, then stir in the lavender.

Allow the mixture to infuse for 10 minutes, then strain it. Add the lemon juice. Chill the mixture in your fridge for about an hour. Pour your sorbet mixture into your ice cream maker. Honeysuckle & Lemon Sorbet

Prep time: 6 minutes Cook time: 10 minutes Servings: 6 Ingredients: 2 tablespoons lemon juice 6 cups honeysuckle flowers, packed with stems removed 5 cups water 2 cups sugar Directions: Add the honeysuckle flowers to a pot, along with 3 cups of water. Cover your pot with a lid, then allow the mixture to infuse overnight at room temperature. The next day, strain the mixture, then set it aside.

Add the remaining water and sugar into your pot. Bring mixture to a boil, then set on low and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in your lemon juice and allow the mixture to cool at room temperature. Mix the sugar syrup and honeysuckle infusion, pour it into your ice cream maker, process it according to the manufacturer's instructions.
