Hier liegt der erste Bildband über den Turabdin vor, den Heiligen Berg der syrischen Christenheit. Durch Mönche der ca. 80 Klöster wurde er zum Kernland ältester christlicher Tradition. Doch im Westen blieb er bisher fast unbekannt. Wer weiß schon, daß die Christen des Turabdin in ihrem Alltag heute noch die Sprache Jesu sprechen? Dieses landschaftlich reizvolle Hochland südlich des Tigris birgt älteste Baudenkmäler wie sie sonst nicht anzutreffen sind. Die Bilder werden ergänzt durch eine fundierte Darstellung seiner Geschichte, Kultur und Lebensweise. Hans Hollerweger ist emeritierter Professor für Liturgiewissenschaft an der Theologischen Fakultät in Linz/Österreich und Initiator der "Freunde des Tur Abdin" .
