What Do We Need to Know About the 8GB Apple iPhone? The iPhone actually replaces many gadgets due to its all-inone capability. Despite having all these features, the iPhone remains user friendly and comes with standard system requirements for your PC connectivity. For Mac computer users, the iPhone requires a Mac computer with USB 2.0, and at least Mac OS X version 10.4.10. It should also have at least the iTunes 7.5 capability. For Windows based computers, the iPhone requires use of a USB port 2.0, Windows XP Professional or Home Edition (with at least service pack 2), or Windows Vista business, Home Premium, Ultimate or Enterprise edition. These are some of the features of the Apple iPhone 8GB unit. •

The iPhone package is inclusive of iPhone, Documentation, Stereo Headset, Dock, USB Power Adapter, Dock Connector to USB Cable, and Cleaning/Polishing Cloth. (The other compatible accessories are also available and sold separately.)

This iPhone unit has 8 gigabyte capacity of flash drive, (with 1 Gig = 1 billion bytes); battery power of 8 hours of non-stop talk time; standby time of 250 hours; 6 hours of non-stop Internet use; 7 hours of non-stop video playback; and 2 hours of non-stop audio playback. (Tests for battery life were conducted in May and June of 2007 under a variation of the iPhone set-up.)

11

The iPhone has a 30-pin dock connector, 3.5mm stereo headphone mini jack (standard size) and an iPhone dock connector.

• •

The iPhone camera is 2.0 megapixels. Audio for the iPhone has a frequency response from 20Hz to 20,000Hz. The iPhone also supports audio formats in Mp3, AAC Protected, AAC, Mp3 VBR, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, and Audible formats 1, 2 and 3 mode.

The iPhone video supports H.264 video up to 1.5 Mbps in 640x480 pixels (at 30 frames per second.)

Lastly, the iPhone has Quad-Band status that supports 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz. In addition, it is also Wi-Fi capable for your Internet connection; and Bluetooth capable for phone to PC or phone to phone connectivity.

12

Looking for the Right Accessory iPhone Users Like If you are familiar with the iPod (said to be the precursor of the iPhone released June 2007 in the US), then you will be gratified to learn that majority of the iPod accessories available nowadays can also be fitted or installed on your new iPhone. Perhaps the most important of the iPod accessories that are acceptable for use on the iPhone is the common screen protector or case. The glass screen of the iPhone will thank you for taking such a precaution. A less common iPhone accessory you can look for is the wired headset and/or the Bluetooth headset. As an accessory iPhone users may push for, the Bluetooth headset is actually compatible with other brands of mobile phones (not just the iPhone.) It is not certain whether another accessory iPhone users could find useful will be offered as well; and that is cell phone insurance. One reason you might need cell phone insurance is because the iPhone has a touch sensitive screen that needs a touch from your finger to make the iPhone function. A common hard case could work as the first line of defense for your iPhone but cell phone insurance may help stop the tears when an unexpected accident happens to your pricey iPhone. You might be surprised what types of accidents a touch sensitive screen can inadvertently undergo, for instance, female users who like to sport long fingernails may be unpleasantly surprised to find the screen of their iPhone scratched by an errant fingernail. Yes, the screen is that sensitive. So always, take care when handling your iPhone.

iPhone is Apple’s Default Cell phone Ever since Apple Computer was set up and started competing in the Information Technology industry, it has been known for its well-made computers (but not for cell phones.) Then it came out with the iPod and things started changing for Apple, it seemed that hip techno fans liked the iPod. This proved so encouraging that this June 2007 Apple succeeded in introducing its new cell phone called the iPhone to the public. It does not seem that Apple was able to come up with cell phones in the past, so the overwhelming demand and response to the iPhone must have told Apple management (led by the legendary Steve Jobs) that maybe they have something good going on here. And there is now news that the company is set to produce a simpler cell phone than the iPhone. This simpler cell phone (tentatively known as the iPhone Nano) is based on the premise that there are people who only want two things out of their techie gadget, for it to play music and for it to allow them to make and receive calls. The iPhone which is being used now can do more than that, thus it is more complicated to learn and adjust to (which maybe fine for some people but some may mind having to learn so many new things about a gadget.) So, to those who desire a simpler machine to help them listen to great tunes while being on hand to deliver or receive calls for them, this new product from Apple may be just the thing to suit their needs.

Latest Cell Phone: Why you’d want to Buy Apple Inc.'s iPhone iPhone is an innovative device that allows Apple enthusiasts to experience multimedia and internet enabled feature all in one mobile phone. This device was named as the Invention of the Year in 2007 by Time magazine. This revolutionary device has amazed several techno-savvy individuals when it was first introduced last January 2007. With its fist release in the media, fans of iPhone can't wait to buy one. People then have to wait for a few months for it to be released in the market. People in the United States were able to buy this trendy mobile with its market release last June 29, 2007. In Germany, France and the United Kingdom, iPhone was then released last November 2007. iPhone also has a multi-touch screen that enables an individual to call directly from the contact list. With the success of iPod, Apple Inc. designed and marketed this innovative device. To buy an iPhone, people can visit any AT&T stores. This will cost roughly about $ 399 for each 8GB phone. This phone is regarded as the most advanced web browser in a portable gadget. This actually syncs bookmarks in any computer system whether it is a PC or a Mac. Aside from that it allows an individual to listen to voice mail messages in various arrangements, a convenience of having email technology on a mobile phone. iPhone is an ground breaking cell phone that is considered to be the most advanced software that was

15

ever invented. This device will definitely change how a cell phone is visualized.

16

Buy iPhones Through Authentic Suppliers The problem with buying copies of original iPhones is that you probably will not get the same level of functionality that an original iPhone can give you so it makes better consumer purchase sense to simply tap into the authentic supply chains designated by Apple Inc. to get your authentic iPhone units. One place where you can get authentic iPhone units is any Apple Retail Store, you can check the http://www.apple.com/iphone/buy/ URL for more details about this. Another authentic supplier of authentic iPhone units is the exclusive carrier for the iPhone which is AT&T. So head for any AT&T place and inquire where you can get your real iPhone units. At the moment, there are more than 1,800 AT&T outlets in the US alone so that may mean one exists quite near your current location. You can also go to the http://www.apple.com/iphone/buy/ URL to see specific AT&T office locations. Those who do not like walking around looking for such stores can just head online and look for the Apple Online Store instead. The good part about going online is that you can easily browse through iPhone accessories to see what goes well with your iPhone. If you buy something worth over $50, the shipping can be done for you free of charge. Another good part about using authentic suppliers to get your real iPhone units is that your real iPhone unit will come with a

17

warranty (something that no self-respecting counterfeiter would dream of providing) so that is an assurance your iPhone will last longer than a counterfeit one would.

18

An Introduction to the Apple Cell iPhone Phone Back in January 2007, Apple Computer revealed that they are ready to release the Apple Cell iPhone Phone, a cell phone that is just 11.6 millimeters thin. It has a touch screen display measuring 3.5 inches at 480 x 320 dimensions. The Apple Cell iPhone Phone is fitted with multi-touch support, while the screen shuts off automatically when you hold the phone very near your face due to the proximity sensor. You might want to test out its 2 megapixel cam, the storage (that maxes out at either 4 gigabytes or 8 gigabytes), its Bluetooth 2.0 system complete with EDR plus A2DP, and WiFi access which will instantly switch on when you happen to be in a WiFi hotspot. To sweeten the deal, the Apple Cell iPhone Phone also comes with quad-band GSM radio complete with EDGE. It functions on the OS X and can support Safari, Google Maps, and Widgets, as well as iTunes . As of January 2007, the Apple Cell iPhone Phone was meant to carry free push IMAP email (courtesy of a tie up between Apple Computer and Yahoo!) If you use the the Apple Cell iPhone Phone for just video or talk functions, the battery life ought to max out at five hours, though if you use it only for music battery life should extend to a maximum of 16 hours. If you get the unit that has 4 gigabytes of storage in the US as a Cingular, you get charged $499 per two-year contract. The 8gigabyte unit will cost you $599. Apple Computer is expected to roll out the Apple Cell iPhone Phone in Asia by 2008.

19

Apple Cell iPhone Phone Price: Effects of Technology on the Price After passing all of the required certification tests, Apple Inc. released iPhone to the buying public that greatly expected and wanted to have the cellular phone as early as the Company announced its coming into the market. From the very beginning, it was known to all that the iPhone's price would be generally more expensive than the usual cellular phones currently in he market. And after so many flocked to the stores to buy their iPhones on the price of $599, there was a great cry of disbelief and anger over Apple's decision to slash the price of the 8GB by $200 for the sole reason of increasing its sale during the Christmas Season. For this matter, the Company soon decided to offer back to those, who have initially bought iPhones at the price of $599, about $100 of credit. It is however, a poor consolation to those who have bought the iPhones at its original opening price, but as it is with technology, there is nothing to be done but shrug it off and enjoy the iPhones. In this, most are still at awe at the generally large decrease in the prices, while the people at Apple lament that the decrease was only a technological affair, as every device's price will generally fall after a period of time. And while many are still lamenting, there is no doubt however that whatever the price the iPhone may have been sold in the past it would still have been able to command such commercial buying on the part of the people, who were so excited to experience it for themselves.

Apple iPhone: Price and Official Release Date of Launch iPhone is considered to be the Invention of Year in 2007 by Time magazine. With its remarkable features, this device surely deserves this recognition. Apple's success in the release of iPod has initiated the invention of this newest gadget. Apple first introduced iPhone last January 2007, which then followed its official release date on June 29, 2007 in the United States. Other countries such as Germany, France and United Kingdom got a hold of this trendy device just last November 2007. AT&T was considered to be the exclusive distributor of iPhone when it was released. Interested buyers can just visit their local AT&T stores to inquire about the prices. For 8GB AT&T offers it for about $399 per unit. Last Christmas, iPhone units were sold at a lower price to make it more affordable for iPhone fanatics. Apple released its price information to those who are interested in buying iPhone. The prices vary from monthly plans that range from $60 - $100. As for AT&T clients all they have to do is add an additional $20 on their monthly plan. iPhone is indeed an amazing device a techno-savvy could ever have. This gadget has everything a person needs such as multi touch screen (including a virtual keyboard), web enabled phone, and has the newest multimedia technology. This allows a person to experience internet services that includes a comprehensive web browsing, email and Wi-Fi capabilities. Just like a mini computer on a mobile phone. The iPhone is certainly an incredible mobile phone that is worth buying.

21

The Actual Apple Date iPhone Release In the US, Apple Inc. set the official Apple date iPhone release at June 29, 2007 and tapped the services of telecom company AT&T as its official US carrier for the iPhone service. In Asia, one source says that the official Apple date iPhone release will be sometime in 2008. With this new iPhone gadget, Apple Inc. predicts that it will snare sales of 10 million units of the Apple iPhone in 2008 alone. In the US, the 4 gigabyte model of the iPhone was priced at $500 while the bigger storage unit (8 gigabytes to be precise) will cost you $600 total. It cannot be denied though that all the rumors and false alarms about the true release date of the iPhone helped rev up demand for this item, which should in turn lead to more sales for Apple Inc. One downside to the fast development of the iPhone by Apple Inc. was that the company had to move the team working on their Mac OS 1.5 Leopard system to the iPhone project just so the iPhone could be released on time. This means that the Mac OS 1.5 Leopard system development itself was then delayed by four months. But if Apple Inc. gets a lot of sales from the iPhone that should be compensation enough for the company having to delay the OS development in favor of the iPhone development. One reason so many rumors had been circulating about the actual Apple date iPhone release was because for regulatory reasons Apple Inc. had to submit details about their product to the Federal Communications Commission (or FCC) so inadvertently when that happens and the product is already much hyped about, then rumors will leak out.

22

Why Many People Hanker after the Apple giveaway iPhone Contests First and foremost, the iPhone from Apple is really a beauty for a cell phone so it is not surprising that Apple fans would love to get an Apple giveaway iPhone unit if they could. Many websites have held their own Apple giveaway iPhone contests which allow iPhone fans to get a chance of owning either a 4-gigabyte or 8gigabyte unit. One retailer tried to promote their designer label purses for women by tying in a free iPhone to their promo. Under that promo, you could get a designer purse for women along with the free iPhone. Aside from the Apple giveaway iPhone unit itself, some contests may also give away the iPhone case as well. What you have to remember about Apple giveaway iPhone contests is, they may not be open for people from different countries to enter. Meaning, if you join one contest in the US and you are a US citizen, then you would most likely be eligible to enter but someone from Canada who intends to join might not be legally permitted to participate. This is why you need to check the fine print of the contest rules before joining in. The main reason people try so hard to win Apple giveaway iPhone units is because this cell phone from Apple Computer plays up the value of the convergence of multiple technologies in one cell phone unit (specifically the technologies of the Internet, video, music, and wireless communication.)

23

The iPhone allows people who are always on the move to get the most out of their cell phone (making it unnecessary to purchase additional products that can carry out each of the iPhone functions.)

24

Apple iPhone: Apple Inc., Music and iPhone The average person would generally know an apple from an Apple, and although both visual pictures are showing an apple, there is an adverse difference in both of them. That person would, when he hears or sees an Apple Inc. invention, be in for an amazement and surprise. Apple Inc. is a Company that started it all, from the commercialization of computers and now iPod. With the complete success of iPod, Apple Inc. soon turned its sights on the world of cellular phones and how the Company may increase invent a product that will embody or at least have within its capabilities all the needs of the user. In the past, the name Apple Inc. was greatly associated with the fashionable computers, but today, with the success of iPod, Apple Inc. is now greatly seen as iPod. Being this, it must also follow that the latest invention of Apple Inc. must not only be revolutionary, but must also have the capabilities of an iPod. In this, Apple Inc. has been true to its new image that was associated with it by the buying public. The new iPhone comes with the capability to store and play music for its user, which is greatly similar to the iPods, but in order to last long in terms of music time, the battery life of the iPhones for music playing is estimated and expected to last for about 24 hours with an allowance of 250 hours for standby time. This is a battery of a newly-bought iPhone, but it has been expected and designed by Apple to be able to retain up to 80% of its

25

original battery life capacity after a maximum of 400 full charge and discharge cycles. This is something that is vaguely the same with the iPod batteries.

26

Apple iPhone Drop shipper: Integration of a Website with the Drop ship Network As of June 2007 last year, it was known and expected that the hottest cellular phone was about to hit town, with an unknown array of technological wonders never before put together inside a tiny gadget called Cell phone. It was the iPhone and indeed it did made waves and waves of expectant people wanting to have for themselves a piece of this unit and to experience the act of using it. And as technology boomed into greater heights, the common sense of some people dictated that they should take virtual advantage of this in the most convenient fashion. Today, owning a computer that has Internet connection is no longer a luxury enjoyed by a few, as this is an appliance that could be found everywhere. In some cases, the computer with Internet connection is no longer treated as a luxury, but is already a necessity for some and the release and demand for the iPhone proved that this is indeed true. There are now currently countless of Websites offering Dropship capabilities to its members. By owning a Dropship Website, the owner is able to display all the electronics and gadgets he is selling through the Internet. It is then made more profitable when the owner is able to cross sell that are products better, which can virtually retain the existing customers for them to buy again.

27

This is because a Dropship Website allows the the owners to sell their products to other repeated customers, which will therefore increase their reputation to the buying public. And while there is the underlying problem of delivery and stocks of products to sell, there are Websites that offer their services in terms of handling the logistics aspects and the products through full integration of the owners' Website and the Dropshipper Network.

28

Apple Inc.'s New iPhone Technology Apple Inc. has invented a technology that changed how mobile phones are perceived. The iPhone is considered to be a new ground breaking invention in communication. iPhone has everything a professional, student or techno savvy individual could ever ask for in a mobile phone. With its amazing features that includes multi media, web enabled and a touch screen technology (with virtual buttons and keyboard). This new includes a Wi-Fi connectivity that allows individuals to browse the interne anytime, anywhere. With the successful release of iPod, Apple continued to lead the mobile technology by introducing iPhone as their newest mobile invention. This device is a quad band and operates in GSM standard. It is also compatible to other international networks. As of the moment, Apple exclusively distributes this device to networks such as T mobile, Orange and AT&T. To purchase a new iphone, users can get a subscription from any of the official distributors of Apple. They provide affordable monthly plans and other subscription discounts. Last holiday season, discounts on iPhone went as low as $399 per unit for their 8GB mobile phones. For those who want to unlock their new iPhone, users can have it unlocked for only $9.97. If users do not want to open their new unit, they can just download software that will cost roughly about $49.00. iPhone is indeed a remarkable mobile phone that

29

kept their competitors at the edge of their seats. This device will definitely create a mark in the history mobile technology.

30

Retail Price of Apple iPhone In January 2007, Steve Jobs of Apple announced their entry into the mobile phone market with the iPhone. The iPhone is regarded as the revolutionary mobile phone of this generation. In fact, with its advanced features, Time magazine gave recognition to the iPhone as The Invention of the Year in 2007. Apple Inc. is selling iPhone at a lower price on retail stores. Just this holiday season, iPhone units were offered at a discount price. Their 8GB iPhone can now be bought at $399. This move made the Apple iPhone more affordable to its consumers. There is also talk that the 4GB Apple iPhone will be sold at an amazingly low retail price or be totally removed from the shelves because of the cheaper 8GB iPhone. This device redefined what mobile technology can achieve. With just a tap, people can make call, browse the web, send emails, listen to music or watch a video. The visual voicemail feature can also be accessed in any order. This means that the user no longer has to listen to all the voicemail messages chronologically. Mobile carriers had to adjust and change their software to accommodate this Apple iPhone feature and actually drove the retail price of the iPhone to unbelievable levels. Consumers still bought the Apple iPhone, though, even with its expensive retail price. One thing lacking with the Apple iPhone, though, is 3G features. With 3G technology fast approaching and gaining popularity,

31

Apple plans to release new versions of the iPhone this year. Price retail for this has yet to be announced.

32

Apple iPhone Wholesaler: More Convenient than Going to the Stores The increase of the demand for iPhones and the need to locate other means of making money are probably the reasons behind the current boom in the Dropshipping Industry. It has, in fact because of Internet Connection and widespread use of Computers, made it across many continents already. Far from being a household work, it is now a money-making industry that could further be enlarged with the improvement of the Websites catering to such Dropships. There are many Companies that offer and do wholesale Dropshipper and mostly these Companies are specialized in the dropshipping of consumer electronics products, which is currently one of the fastest-ever product to be sold. A testament to this statement is the advent release to the public of the iPhone by Apple Inc. In its height of buying, the iPhone was deemed as an expensive yet a must-have product. And truly, the release of iPhone saw the people lining outside the stores selling them even before these stores opened up. And in the quest for convenience, it is more reliable, safer and hassle-free to buy from a Website Wholesaler than from the nearest store. In fact, there are many cases where buying from a Website Wholesaler results to having pay less than one would usually pay from a store with the same product purchased. And these Website Wholesalers are not only selling iPhones, as many are engaged in the selling of different highly-demanded electronic goods and gadgets. The demand for Website Wholesalers

33

are never decreasing, which forces the Companies behind all these, to expand their Networks, coverages and their lines of products to be sold. Expansion has been constant and the product range are increasing in terms of availability and variety of products.

34

Why Choose an ATT iPhone over Other Cell phones Out There? The ATT iPhone (or AT&T iPhone for those who prefer the longer name) is simply the Apple Computer iPhone cell phone gadget that can now be used in the US exclusively on the AT&T network alone. Now, why did Apple Computer choose AT&T above all the other networks in the US? AT&T claims to be the best phone network in the whole USA, and they point to the fact that they have more than 65 million subscribers on their network at the moment as proof of this claim. AT&T lays claim to having the biggest mobile-to-mobile community of users due to this huge subscriber base. The telecom company goes on to say that it has the biggest digital network for voice and data in the whole US. Apparently, AT&T does not stop there because the company adds that it has the biggest international system compared to any other US carrier. If you do opt for the AT&T iPhone service, there is one great benefit that they offer: the Rollover Minutes program. This means simply that if you have any minutes remaining per month that are unused, these get bundled into the following month for your use (or not, as you please.) This is great for those who may want to splurge one month and then be thrifty the next, or who have relatives and friends that should be contacted for an emergency or special occasion. The Apple iPhone itself can function as a mobile phone, an Internet access device, and a music storage device, all in one slim gadget that easily slips into your shirt pocket. The only disadvantage is that for those who tend to misplace things, the iPhone might prove a liability.

35

Taking Advantage of Availability iPhone Trends When rumors surfaced that Apple Inc. was trying to come up with the new product known now as the iPhone, the public was already clamoring for information on how to acquire this product. Strange but true, this trend helped spur sales of the iPhone to levels that really made Apple Inc. leaders happy. But what are the availability iPhone trends being experienced now? One place you can get your iPhone is through the Apple Retail Store outlets owned by Apple Inc. You can check out the website http://www.apple.com/retail/iphone/ to find out which Apple Retail Store in which state has the Apple iPhone unit you want in stock and other pertinent details about this cell phone. Majority of the Apple Retail Store outlets open in the morning at 10:00 and no, they do not accept reservations, iPhone units are sold when you pay for them on a first-come, first-served basis. How long will availability iPhone trends last? Actually, no one is really sure. Perhaps it is good that we know for the moment that the iPhone is still available at those Apple Retail Store outlets anyway and that those outlets are supposed to have plenty in stock right now. One problem that may affect iPhone sales though is that AT&T, the exclusive carrier for the iPhone service, has not been reliable when it comes to maintaining their telecom carrier service. This is why certain consumers like to have their iPhone unlocked so they can use it on other carriers. For the most up-to-date news about iPhone availability, check out the apple.com website when you need to.

Cingular iPhone Ads No More In January 2007, Steve Jobs from Apple announced the soon-to-be-released iPhone which will have iPod and mobile phone capabilities. In February 2007, Cingular was rumored to be one of the exclusive distributors of the Apple iPhone. That same month, Buy Cingular iPhone ads were shown all over the Internet even though there was no confirmation on the exclusivity rights. The Buy Cingular iPhone ads also showed the rates and the plans available for the customers. In January 2007, a major rebranding was announced by AT&T which included the transition of Cingular to the new AT&T and having all services under one brand--which is AT&T. The Buy Cingular iPhone ads never came into realization. Because of this merger, AT&T became the biggest telecoms provider in the United States with over 65 million subscribers in their list. Now that the iPhone was introduced last January 2007, with AT&T as their exclusive distributor, Cingular clients can still take this advantage. They will receive advanced technology devices and quality products and services with affordable rate plans when they buy or subscribe for iPhone via the AT&T. They will no longer be able to buy Cingular iPhone but rather buy AT&T iPhone. If subscribers want to get the hottest phones in town, Cingular/ AT&T have the revolutionary iPhone technology that can change how mobile phones are perceived. iPhone has several features that includes the multi touch screen with virtual buttons and keypads, full multimedia capabilities which is remarkably similar to the iPod, full Internet access including e-mail and Web browsing via WiFi technology and many more features which are truly advanced and feature-rich.

iPhone Cell Phone: The Batteries Apple Inc.'s iPhone is a brand new and revolutionary gadget made to suit the user's individual wants and likes into one portable and user-friendly unit. Aside from its many features, it has a builtin and rechargeable battery, which is obviously not intended to be replaceable. In view of this, it is quite a similar aspect to the existing iPods. In the event wherein the battery reaches the end of its life time prematurely, the iPhone can and must be given back to Apple, and this will be replaced for free by another unit. This will only be entertained while the iPhone in question is still in warranty, which is about a year upon the user's purchase. This one year may also be extended to at least two years more by coordinating with AppleCare. Meanwhile, people with iPhones that have no warranty are to carry the cost all throughout their use of the units in questions. And the cost of new batteries for iPhones without or out of warranties are pegged at about US$79 and US$6.95 which is for shipping. These batteries are only commercially available at Apple so having one's iPhone warranted is a complete must to avoid going through the whole difficult process of paying for the unit's replacement parts. This must give the user the impression that the iPhone's battery is next to complete worthless, rather all of these are necessary precautions that are meant to ensure the achievement of the ultimate goal of customer satisfaction. In fact, these batteries are designed to provide up to 7 hours of video, 6 hours of web brows-

38

ing, and 8 hours of cellular phone talk time, though all of these depend in the cellular phone's configuration.

39

Cingular iPhone: Exclusivity Rights with Apple Inc. over iPhone Many people were crying foul and anguish over Apple Inc.'s decision to have Cingular as having exclusive rights with the new and revolutionary cellular phone called iPhone. And the thing is, the exclusivity rights granted and entered by Apple Inc. with the company Cingular are not just for only a few months time. In fact, Cingular has the one and only exclusivity rights that give it the power and authority to sell the iPhones to the interested public, and this exclusivity rights was secured under an agreement that would be set into place for years to come in the U.S This was laid clear by Cingular's president of National Distribution during a scheduled conference, and while the agreement makes the iPhones under the exclusivity rights of the Company, the agreement also encompasses future cellular phone models, which are known and likely to come after the evident success of the first of the iPhones. And there will surely be those that will try to procure an iPhone through the company, Cingular, and would try then to transfer it to another network, but this will be quite impossible unless the owner gets to have the unit itself unlocked. All iPhones going through, and out of Cingular are surely iPhones that must be considered as locked to other networks, even if it uses GSM. And although many are angry with the matter, the demands of the iPhone requires the support of the wireless carrier and this support is kept from being complicated by having it only based

40

under one wireless carrier. And in saying so, having multiple carriers are already a burden to carry in terms of difficulties and can only be addressed through the use and pumping of resources to significant areas that need improvement, in other words, other investments.

The Cisco iPhone Trademark Infringement The iPhone trademark was actually filed in 1993 by Infogear under "I Phone" and was later registered as IPhone in 1999. But the Infogear iPhone never really took off and Infogear was later acquired by Cisco Systems including the Infogear iPhone trademark. In 2006, Cisco released a voice over IP under the name Cisco iPhone. While the iPhone trademark was applied by Apple since as early as 2002, it is only applied in the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, the European Union, Canada and New Zealand. In January 2007 Steve Jobs announced that Apple will be selling a product called iPhone starting mid 2007. This announcement took Cisco by surprise because they have been in negotiations with Apple over the Cisco iPhone trademark. A day after the Apple announcement, Cisco announced that a lawsuit had been filed against Apple because of the Cisco iPhone trademark infringement. The Cisco iPhone lawsuit wanted Apple to stop using the trademark iPhone. According to Cisco, the Cisco iPhone lawsuit was not about or against Apple's innovation of the iPhone design, technology, and interface, nor is it about money or royalties. The lawsuit is about Cisco iPhone trademark infringement. The Cisco iPhone was a trademark owned by Cisco since they acquired Infogear technology in the year 2000. The iPhone trademark was registered as early as 1996 even before the iMac or the iPod came into the public's attention. According to Cisco, they have

42

been approached by Apple as early as 2001 over how they can share the iPhone trademark and mutually benefit from the iPhone. The Cisco iPhone is still being shipped and supported by Cisco. One month after the announcement of Steve Jobs regarding the iPhone, Cisco and Apple announced that they have reached an agreement and both companies will be using the iPhone trademark and will explore interoperability in the Cisco iPhone and Apple iPhone.

Did Apple make the right choice to Combine Three Features Into One Unit? The three main features of the iPhone are music file storage, Internet access, and mobile telecommunications which may explain why it took so much effort on the part of Apple Inc. to produce the iPhone and even more effort to keep its development on track to meet its marketing release schedule. Apple Inc. had been struggling under a class-action lawsuit filed against it since the earlier generations of its iPod music storage device had exhibited shorter-than-guaranteed battery life for many users. At the same time, the company was pushing for the development of the iPhone, so perhaps Apple Inc. needed much time to tweak with the iPhone prototypes to weed out any bugs and defects that could result in future lawsuits. Historically, other Apple products have also shown critical design flaws that disappointed customers (such as the MacBook laptop and the PowerBook laptop which both tended to overheat over use.) The iPhone already showed signs of problems with its software that coordinated music play and phone usage functions, as well as the battery life too. The worst thing that could happen to Apple Inc. after having sold so many iPhones is if it needs to conduct a product recall and refund all the customers who bought the products. And after doing a recall the company would need to investigate what problems the iPhone units have and make sure no other ones crop up. But a

44

product recall will have a tremendous negative backlash on Apple Inc. because it staked its reputation on the appeal of the iPhone much of that appeal will be lost if defects crop up now.

45

Dates of iPhone Price Release: The Rumors on the would-be Prices of the iPhones The expectations of the many would-be buyers and the enthusiastic members of the community, who have wholeheartedly debated on when the iPhone would be released to be sold commercially to the public has abated after the official statement from Apple Inc. that the iPhone release date would be on June 29, 2007. But this is old news and the world revolves around these facts as if it was essential to their well-being. And one thing is clear to everyone else at the moment the official release dates were ticked off, the next rumors and speculation about to be spread is the price of the units available for commercial sale to the public. It has been expected to cost somewhat more expensive than the usual cost of ordinary cell phones. There has also been rumors asserting that the iPhone’s price would be slightly at par with the prices of the new and top-of-theline cell phone releases from other known cell phone manufacturers. These rumors were made by people, who have greatly awaited the release of the iPhones. In fact, their long-suffering waiting was so apparent with the large number of blogs and Websites catering only to their rumors. And upon the release of the official dates, these rumors continued to persist in the Internet, which is rather odd to begin with. From speculations to announcements, even the stores who would

46

release the iPhones were bewildered as to when. The MEDIA also greatly helped in spreading these rumors as well as creating a massive influx of information that caused many people to not only speculate on their release dates and prices, but also speculate on the iPhones' capabilities. All in all, these rumors helped create the thirst for owning a iPhone.

47

Date iPhone Release: Rumors Heralding it up to its Release Date The obvious nature of the device, aptly named as iPhone, comes in great lengths as to provide the people with what to expect from it. Even before its release, more and more rumors have arrived and preceded it like angels heralding news from Heaven itself. And following the success of iPod, Apple Inc. has announced the commercial release of the iPhone by January 2007, which is now long past from the distinct memories of the man, and yet, it must be remembered that this announcement made great ripples of excitement on the would-be buyers as they awaited the release of the widely exclaimed and heralded revolutionary device. Upon the much awaited-announcement of the gadget and its release dates, more and more rumors were spread, which is highly likely to be the cause of the long-lines of waiting during its first day opening sale to the public. And these rumors were no ordinary ones, as they were able to last for months time. It was also aided and helped by the MEDIA and its frenzy to provide all details available to the listening, watching and reading public. So heightened were the affairs that the release day was highly marked by festive celebrations. And when the iPhone was first introduced in the United States on June 29, 2007, the MEDIA was there to thoroughly immerse the public into everything that must be known about it. Such was the affair that it caused great fits of frenzy on both the buyers and of course the people inside Apple Inc., who marks the

48

iPhone in numerous cases as the breakthrough project of the Company. In the November of 2007, this gadget was released to the countries of United Kingdom, Germany and France and was named as the Time magazine's Invention of the Year (2007).

iPhone: Apple Inc. Pride in Mobile Technology The iPhone is regarded as the most innovative invention of year 2007. In fact Time magazine have given them recognition as The Invention of the Year in 2007 . This device has created so much media attention since it was introduced by Apple Inc. last January 2007. With its irresistible features such as multi touch screen with virtual touch buttons and keypad, advanced internet enabled phone, and a multimedia with iPod features, who can resist it? The success of Apple's iPod initiated the launch of this revolutionary phone. Aside from its usual features like camera/ video and SMS messaging, it also has advanced email and web browsing. Techno-savvy individuals can also browse the internet anytime, anywhere with its Wi-Fi connectivity. This device is a quad band and operates in GSM standard. With 3G technology increasing in most countries, Apple Inc. will launch their new version of iPhone in 2008.

Which iPhone Case Should I Buy? Everyone who owns an iPhone should buy an iPhone case to protect their very expensive mobile phone from the dangers of ordinary life. Although it is unlikely your iPhone case will survive being dropped in water (a common accident that afflicts those who bring their phone to the bathroom or kitchen with them) even with an iPhone case, your iPhone case will help your sensitive iPhone survive other accidents like being scratched by people who do not know how sensitive the touch screen display actually is, or by being bumped against rough surfaces like walls or floors. There are three main types of iPhone cases being sold nowadays. The first type is the hard case and is best for those who have a tendency to drop things, in which case saying you are sorry does not seem to cure the problem. Only prevention by encasing the iPhone in a hard case will prevent your iPhone from becoming a mishmash of junk when you or someone accidentally drops it. The second type is the slim case which some say is more desirable than the hard case since the slim case permits you to show off the slim design of your iPhone. It can prevent against ordinary scratching but cannot protect your iPhone if you drop it. It is good that nowadays you can buy both the hard type of iPhone case and the slim cover type in a variety of materials and colors. The third type is called the flip lid, meaning, to access the front part of your iPhone, you simply flip open the lid case. It can

55

protect the screen part but it is not as durable as the hard case for the other parts of your iPhone. Though the iPhone may match other iPod accessories, the design of the iPhone is different so you cannot use iPod cases for iPhones.

56

What Exactly is an iPhone Clone? You may know that an iPhone is the original cell phone from Apple Computer which can act as a mobile phone, an Internet access gadget, and a music storage unit as the owner wishes to use it. And that is also what the so-called iPhone clones also aim to do, but these clone phones are made by other manufacturers, not by Apple Inc. One company from China, Hua Long is its name, already produced an iPhone Clone named the IP2000 (or Hua Long IP2000, if you prefer.) This iPhone Clone can read your handwriting, and relies on GPRS and WAP too. It can store music files and function as a mobile phone as well. Samsung is another manufacturer that came out with their iPhone Clone dubbed the Samsung Ultra Smart F700. This particular iPhone Clone is similar to the Apple iPhone since it features a touch-sensitive screen but it also sports a QWERTY keyboard for those who cannot get used to touch screen usage yet and want the assurance of the familiar keyboard symbols. (A QWERTY keyboard is basically a keyboard whose symbols follow the QWERTY format of typewriters and most personal computers.) Samsung goes so far as to claim that its Samsung Ultra Smart F700 relies on the 3G (third-generation) technology which allegedly operates at faster speeds than the EDGE network used by the Apple iPhone. Samsung also says their product has a much better camera (all 5 megapixels of it) than the Apple iPhone version. So which phone will you choose? That really depends on your preferences. You may want to examine all of the possible

57

phones on the market. Fortunately for Apple Inc. though, there still seems to be a solid base of consumers who are loyal to the Apple standards for quality products and will always buy original Apple rather than the clones.

58

Why iPhone Forum is Important iPhone is the newest revolutionary cell phone that is out in the market. This device is a media player, a mobile phone and at the same time allows people to surf the web. iPhone's have kept Apple enthusiasts at the edge of their seats with its trendy features such as camera phone, portable media player( also known as iPod), visual voicemail and SMS messaging. To help clients and fans of iPhone, Apple website has created a forum in the internet to assist owners of iPhone. With this, owners will have the chance to meet other iPhone enthusiasts and provide them with the support they need on this device. iPhone's function is not just limited to having the common features of a mobile phone. In fact, it's more than a cell phone. It's a mini computer where in people can take pictures/ video, email and surf the net. Aside from that it also operates in GSM standard that has the capabilities of the international standard. This device also keeps up with the EDGE or the Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution. iPhone forum in the internet increased as soon as Apple have announced its release last June 29, 2007. To those people who have this device, it is advised to visit an iPhone forum to help them with queries and support. In any product these days, assistance and support are needed to maintain the quality and service of a product. iPhone forum can aid consumers in dealing with technical problems of iPhone units.

59

Do You Know of any iPhone Limited Offer I Can Avail of? One aspect of iPhone use that many people may not be aware of is the amount of electricity it actually uses. This is why a new charger was produced that can help iPhone (and even iPod) users get the most usage out of their gadgets without their enjoyment being curtailed because they lost power. The charger is called the iPowerRush and it is an exclusive product of www.iPowerRush.com. It allegedly can extend the number of hours you can run your iPhone or iPod by up to 15 hours maximum (or over 50% of the current usage capacity.) The website sells the charger for $29.95. You can use the iPowerRush on your iPod, your iPod Touch, and also your iPhone devices as a portable charger because this iPowerRush is powered itself by six AAA batteries. You can check how much power you have left in the batteries of your iPowerRush through a power indicator. The charger comes with a slide switch that allows you turn on or off your iPowerRush when necessary. You will not be able to overcharge the iPowerRush because it relies on an automatic limiting circuit to prevent that from happening. Without use of the iPowerRush, data from Apple indicates that the iPhone can be used for audio up to 24 hours, for video playback up to seven hours, for accessing the Internet up to six hours, and for talk time of up to eight hours. Imagine how much longer you could be using the iPhone if you had the iPowerRush as a standby power supply then?

How the iPhone will Transform Mobile Marketing According to many marketing executives, the release of iPhone in the market will dramatically transform how mobile marketing is done. With so many features integrated into one package, many analysts say that this will be the beginning of a new and totally different marketing campaign for mobile phones. This device has a revolutionary mobile technology that can combine work and entertainment into one device. The release of the iPhone was announced in January 2007 and was previewed at MacWorld. The marketing of the iPhone will definitely transform how mobile phones should be made and has set a benchmark for other mobile phones to follow. Its Wi-Fi connectivity allows individuals to download and view videos, play music, go online via its built-in web browser, and send emails. Its wide, multi touch screen with virtual keypad and buttons separates it from the rest because of how it seamlessly integrates futuristic design with functionality. iPhone technology has given a new meaning in the marketing mobile phones. Its amazing features include its ability to sync contacts and files from a Mac or PC. It has several user-friendly features that have caught the attention of many buyers and potential customers. Simple innovations like scrolling through voice messages instead of listening to them chronologically is just one of the many features users will definitely like. A user is also able to view album covers of their favorite music in a page-like scroll view by just

61

sliding their finger on the screen. The iPhone does not even need a stylus--as a matter of fact, it will not work with a stylus. With so many innovations being introduced by the iPhone, mobile phone marketing will forever be transformed.

62

Why All the Fuss Over the iPhone Mobile T-Mobile Service? To non-techies and non-technology aficionados out there, the iPhone might just be another new gadget with a high-fluting name that they could care less about. But to those who appreciate the new technologies that are being produced by the mobile phone business, the iPhone is a smart example of what happens when technology geniuses put their heads together to find out how to combine Internet access, iPod capabilities, and mobile phone services in just one ultra-slim device. The iPhone looks remarkably like a candy bar that is how slim and sleek it is. But unlike a candy bar which is pretty bad for your waist and blood sugar levels, the iPhone comes fitted with many features that make it appealing to people who like what technology can do for them. For example, it can play music and has a touch-control screen. You can also write with it because its software can interpret your handwriting. Not bad for a mobile phone. The iPhone has become so popular among the public that even German carrier T-Mobile has clashed with fellow European carrier Vodafone over the right to carry the iPhone Mobile T-Mobile access. The point of contention between the iPhone and Vodafone is: can a German carrier sell locked phones in its carrier services contract in Germany or not? Both companies feel so strongly about this issue they have gone to court over the issue.

63

The difference between a locked and an unlocked phone is that an unlocked phone can be used on other networks whereas a locked phone is confined only to the network which issued or sold it to the consumer. T-Mobile claims that locked phone customers gain special privileges on the iPhone Mobile T-Mobile access network that unlocked phone holders cannot use.

Do You iPhone Much? iPhone Case Purchase Advice for iPhone Fanatics Just like other cell phones in the past, iPhone fanatics have gained the ability to tinker with their iPhone cell phone and find ways to let it express their individuality. One way they can do that is by buying a special iPhone case to keep their iPhone protected from wear and tear (which is very good for those who have a tendency to bump their iPhones against rough surfaces or even drop them.) Nowadays, you can choose iPhone cases made out of crystal casing, silicon and even leather so if you iPhone much you can always get to flaunt the cool appearance of your iPhone. If you are the type who constantly breaks cell phones by dropping them accidentally, then you better opt for the hard type of iPhone case to give maximum protection to your iPhone unit. Some companies that cater to the needs of people who iPhone much are InCase, Speck, Belkin, and Griffin. And if you do not mind paying the whopping $120 for their signature iPhone case, then you might be interested in the genuine Louis Vuitton version, they also have another version made out of alligator skin but you will have to pay $1,120 total for that (which translates to more than 50% of the retail price of the iPhone itself.) Is it worth it? Depends on who will be using the iPhone. Some factors to take into close consideration when selecting iPhone cases are: the fit of the case on your iPhone; whether you can still slip your iPhone into your pocket with the case covering it;

65

the ability of your iPhone case to protect the display screen; and lastly, the visual appeal of the case. For some, cost is a big consideration while for others price is no constraint.

Apple Filed 2007 Patent for New iPhone Nano Apple Inc. may soon have a follow-up to the tremendous success they reaped with their Apple iPhone since they have filed a patent for their iPhone Nano form factor. The patent itself is entitled Touch Pad with Symbols Based Mode. The patent is for a new kind of touchpad design that emphasizes use of various symbols to cover various modes of the iPhone Nano functions. You use each touchpad symbol control a particular function mode. Basically the iPhone Nano is a storage device for music that also happens to be a cell phone (or a variation on the iPhone actually.) It might be said that the iPhone Nano is just another type of iPod music storage device that has been converted into a mobile phone too. Now why would Apple try to create this type of device when the iPhone can do all that and much more besides? The new device aims to target those consumers who are not interested in all those additional features that come with the original iPhone and simply want to be able to listen to their type of music on the go, and accept and send calls too while they are at it. Simplicity is the key to understanding this new iPhone Nano product, some people may crave for a mobile phone that does not puzzle them and that they can master (instead of the product mastering them.)

67

Some people to whom this new iPhone Nano might appeal to are the elderly, who may find it difficult to adjust to the original iPhone and other very sophisticated products. And of course, not all the features of high tech phones are usable by many people so a simple product may do the trick for these types of consumers.

IPhone News and Features Probably the biggest mobile technology frenzy in 2007 was the iPhone news of being the next generation mobile phone that will set the standards, and set it high, for other manufacturers to follow. With the iPhone news in January 2007, and its eventual release in June of the same year, the iPhone has been receiving rave (with a little rage) reviews left and right. Most of the flak came from its inability to interoperate with other mobile carriers in the US and its unbelievably high introductory price. Praises earned were its aesthetic and functional screen with multi-touch capability. This innovative and eye-catching phone features iPod capabilities in a mobile phone package. The iPhone news of being able to integrate internet, email, web browsing, with video, music and telephony was not really new in the mobile market but its multitouch screen and button less interface certainly made heads turn to take a closer look. While the iPhone did not dominate the mobile phone industry, it still took the market by storm with its iPhone news and marketing hype--generating more than one million phone sales in less than three months since its release. Another iPhone news release made the unit all the more sought after by the consumers -- its price markdown from $599 to $399. The iPhone continues to do well in the US and in other countries. With Apple's announcement that it will be allowing third-party applications to run in the Safari platform as long as it is created in the Ajax or JavaScript, many more users will be more than ever buying this phone or putting it in their first priority wish list.

The larger fonts and clear alphabetical libraries, clearly differs it from the iPod. It also shows different album covers by simply using your fingers to scroll through the library. Mobile phone, plus Web access, plus e-mail, plus multimedia, the iPhone is truly the phone of the future.

iPhone Price: The $200 Decrease From the opening price of $599, the Apple® after great deliberation had the decided that it should be lowered to a $399 per units, which is only for this holiday season. This came after the announcement that the Company is hoping for a sell of one million iPhones by the end of September. This relatively large and unexpected price decrease has been receiving adverse comments from various individuals, who have bought the unit before the price decrease and from people who plan to buy it in the future. The reactions are very much mixed together making probabilities of discontent and contentment hard to establish among those vocal about the price decrease, but one this is quite certain already, which is, with the decrease in the price, the unit, being one of the most top-of-the-line gadget in the world of cellular phones is destined to be on demand for a long period of time. As the Company hopes to increase the numbers of people with iPhones, it is within no doubt that these hopes will not be in vain. To make a great and revolutionary gadget very affordable for even more customers is a sure-fire way of increasing that demand on the iPhone, which comes on two types, the 8GB and the 4GB, and while the latter due to its being less attractive to most of the buyers, is about to be phased out of the market. With this in mind, the 8GB will now be more in demand after the release of surveys pointing to evident customer satisfaction with the iPhone. All of these make the iPhone a breakthrough

73

product whose capabilities and selling-value must be used to the fullest by the Company thus and the decision to make it more affordable to buyers during the holiday season.

What are the Official iPhone Price Retail Terms? An official iPhone in the US can only be used with the At&T carrier service (an arrangement based on the use of a locked iPhone, meaning you cannot use your iPhone with other networks while you are using At&T service alone.) People who are currently subscribers to the AT&T wireless qualifying rate plans may upgrade their service to iPhone usage terms simply by applying for an iPhone Data Plan. Doing so may mean having to give up an existing data plan so consult AT&T about this before opting for this iPhone service. There are certain voice plans that cannot be upgraded to iPhone usage terms. Under an iPhone Data plan (for current subscribers of the AT&T wireless qualifying rate plan) you will receive Unlimited Data, SMS Text Messaging packages, and Visual Voicemail capabilities (inclusive of web and email functions.) Existing customers can choose between the $20/month iPhone rate plan, the $30.00/month iPhone rate plan, and the $40.00/month iPhone rate plan. The $20/month plan gives you 200 SMS Text messages privileges, the $30.00/month plan allows you to have 1500 SMS Text messages privileges, while the $40.00/month plan lets you take advantage of unlimited Text messaging privileges. The family plan is divided into the $109.99 per month plan, the $129.99 per month plan, and the $149.99 per month plan. With all these three plan options, you get Unlimited Data capabilities for both email and web functions, and Visual Voicemail service (along with Roll@over Minutes and Unlimited Mobile to Mobile capacities.) The $109.99/month plan lets you avail of 700 shared min-

75

utes, the $129.99/month plan gives you 1400 shared minutes, and the $149.99/month plan grants you 2100 shared minutes. The last tier of iPhone plans is the individual set where you can pay either $59.99 per month, $79.99 per month, and $99.99 per month. Like the family plans, you can get Unlimited Data capabilities for both email and web functions, and Visual Voicemail service (along with Roll@over Minutes and Unlimited Mobile to Mobile capacities.) Under the $59.99/month plan, you receive 450 minutes; with the $79.99/month plan, you gain 900 minutes; and under the $99.99/month 1350 minutes are granted to you. Either of the three plans will award you 200 SMS Text messages.

Amazing Sales of Apple's iPhone Since its Initial Release Apple's announcement in January 2007 has kept enthusiasts on the edge of their seats waiting for the iPhone release. It was warmly and enthusiastically received in the MacWorld convention and many fans couldn't wait to get their hands on Apple's newest and amazing gadget. Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs have finally announced that the iPhone release date is on June 29th, Friday at 6:00 in the evening. News on the number of iPhones that will be available on June 29th is limited to less than 40 in every AT&T branch stores. This newest gadget will be on sale roughly at about 1800 AT&T areas as well as other Apple retail stores that has over 170 stores. According to Apple, they were able to sell 270,000 units in the first 30 hours of the iPhone release, and over 1,000,000 phones in just a little over three months! This revolutionary phone has several wonderful features. That is why most people are excited to get one on its release date. This device is initially created to provide convenience for techie people out there. The iPhone allows people to call by just tapping the list in the address book, call log, or favorites. This gadget can also automatically sync contact lists from any computer such as PC, Mac and as well as the internet. This lets the individual listen to their voicemail messages in various orders.

77

This mobile phone is a combination of wireless web surfing gadget and a media player. The release of this cell phone will be exclusively distributed by AT&T Inc. wireless division, Orange and T Mobile.

iPhone Release Date iPhone release date have kept mobile enthusiasts at the edge of their seats. This mobile technology stimulated the media and Apple fans when it was first introduced last January 2007. Its features and advanced technology created a buzz not only in the United States but the whole world as well. With its latest mobile technology, it gained a prestigious recognition in Time magazine as The Invention of the Year in 2007 . This device is everything but ordinary. In fact, it has everything a professional would ever need. The multimedia features enable individuals to combine work and play. That is why interested individuals had to wait for iPhone release date before they can get their hands on this amazing phone. One of the major technologies of iPhone is their multi- touch screen that has virtual buttons and keypad. This feature separates iPhone from the rest of the mobile phones in the market today. Just after a few months after iPhone was introduced in the media, iPhone release date was announced. Last June 29, 2007, it was officially released in the United States. Soon after, Germany, France and the United Kingdom were able to experience this revolutionary mobile phone last November 2007. Keeping up with the latest technology is the current trend in mobile technology. This also kept mobile companies looking for ways to improve and enhance their products to keep up with the advancing technology and lifestyle of professionals. Speaking of future technologies,

79

iPhone will also release its new version with 3G technology to provide service to the next mobile generation.

A Review of the Apple iPhone The iPhone was first introduced in the MacWorld convention in January 2007 and was warmly received by the delegates, guests and media people who attended it. In June 2007, it was finally released in the United States. Almost immediately, an iPhone review was to be found in almost every IT blog and magazine worldwide. All with high praises for the iPhone advanced features and capabilities. The iPhone is a multimedia phone designed by Apple Inc. and is capable of multi-touch screen and virtual keyboard and buttons. It is also capable of internet browsing and email through its Wifi connectivity. The review iPhone received in its initial release really made it look truly like the phone of the future which every other mobile phone manufacturer should follow. In later days, other iPhone reviews came out. This time, however, there were very little flying colors and more wish lists. An example of an iPhone review mentioned that, while it had so many advanced features and incredible graphic displays, it lacked many basic features most ordinary phones would have. This included video recording, voice dialing from a car kit, contacts sending, instant messaging, multiple SMS sending and other phone features that every mobile phone should have. Another iPhone review criticized Apple for not complying with the emerging and more advanced 3G mobile technology.

81

iPhone currently only supports the EDGE technology. All in all, the iPhone is really an advanced multimedia phone which is aesthetically eye- catching and user friendly. It's amazing button less design and multi-touch screen is a feature many handsets are now following. This alone already makes it an outstanding and innovative phone that has set a new standard in multimedia/mobile communications.

82

What Do We Need to See in iPhone Reviews? In the US, if you buy an Apple iPhone, you may need to commit to telecom carrier AT&T for a two-year service contract. There are consumers who may not balk at that because the iPhone has a nice sleek design that will appeal to gadget-lovers of all hues. The recessed lens of the 2 megapixel camera is fitted on the back of the iPhone unit. There you will also find the reflective logo of Apple Computer shining innocently at you, as well as minute writing that will give details about the Apple iPhone unit you purchased. The slim and small unit size is why some consumers like this gadget so much, though if you tend to be forgetful it is very easy to lose your iPhone somewhere due to its size. The pixel display is very advanced at 480 x 320 and is much better than that of many mobile devices around. It is good that even when direct sunlight shines on the display screen, you can still read and view the display images. Its touch screen glass surface allows you to control iPhone functions with your fingers and no, you cannot use a stylus for that, the touch will not register. According to one of the iPhone reviews, the display automatically switches off once the iPhone gets too close to you (about 0.75 inches away to be exact) thanks to the built-in proximity sensor. This prevents a user from accidentally triggering an iPhone function when you inadvertently touch the display screen. This usually happens when you are holding the iPhone to your ear for a conversation.

83

To Use or Not to Use iPhone Ringtones If you are not really tech-minded and want iPhone ringtones then you can always plunk down $2 to get your official iPhone ringtones from the Apple iTunes store itself. But for those who want to try their hand at doing the job themselves, you can save on the $1 Apple iTunes charges for selecting a song and the other $1 for transforming the song of your choice into an authentic ringtone for your iPhone unit. Of course, it is understood that Apple does not want you doing the job yourself because legally that can be construed as hacking. But it can be done and there are apparently loopholes in the Apple system which allow it to be done by tech-minded consumers. Ambrosia Software, for one, developed a $15 iToner application which acts as the iPhone ringtone manager for people who use a Mac desktop system. Those who rely on the Windows desktop system can use the $15 iPhoneRingtoneMaker product created by Efiko Software. A word of caution though: Apple iTunes is constantly being updated so if you do opt for such desktop-based ringtone managers, the next update from iTunes could render your ringtone manager ineffective and obsolete. You really should not be surprised that Apple iTunes aims to make such ringtone managers obsolete because it becomes a you-or-me survival situation, meaning the profits either go to Apple Inc. or to the ringtone manager developers.

84

A law student would understandably be cautious about using ringtone managers because using ringtone managers of this sort might be construed to be committing copyright infringement. And so long as the intellectual property rights of songmakers and performers is in question, there will still be room for lawyers to do their thing to protect artists and their medium. So you need to understand what you are getting into first before doing it.

iPhone Sale: Where to Get Discounts and Affordable Prices iPhone is one of the hottest mobile phones that was introduced by Apple Inc. last January 2007. They have come up with a revolutionary phone that changed how mobile phones are perceived. With its multimedia features like iPod includes multi touch screen buttons and virtual keypad, Apple fans surely can't wait to have one. The iPhone sale followed months after. In the United States, the sale of this amazing device started last June 29, 2007. As for other countries like Germany, France and the United Kingdom, iPhone was released just last November 2007. With the great demand of having an iPhone, sale prices went down. Just this past holiday season, iPhone went on sale from $599 to $399 per unit. Aside form that, other discount prices are available if an individual switches from other mobile network to AT&T/ Cingular. Apart form other promos, iPhone fans can get a hold of this new technology by just surfing the internet. There are a lot of iPhone units for sale in the internet. Some are unlocked iPhone units for sale online. These can be used by consumers outside the United States. Along with it comes with other accessories. That is why when looking for an iPhone sale, it is important to check what's included in the product. When looking for an iPhone sale, it is essential to check whether they are selling a com-

86

plete set of the product. To be sure, iPhone fans can get their subscription in any AT&T branch. In this way, people can be assured of quality iPhone units.

87

Understanding the iPhone Samsung Rivalry The Apple iPhone was released earlier than the Samsung F700, but the Samsung Ultra Smart F700 proves it can successfully compete with the Apple iPhone. Both have touch screen capability and are both considered an all-in-one gadget. Let us take a closer look at these two gadgets. The iPhone has a screen that measures 480 x 320 at 3.5 inches, while the Samsung F700 is quite smaller at 440 x 240 at 2.78 inches. The iPhone touchscreen is fitted with multi-touch technology while the Samsung F700 has drag and drop capabilities. The iPhone is Quad-Band while the Samsung F700 is Tri-Band only - but both have EDGE connectivity. The iPhone camera stands proud at 2.0 Megapixel capacity while the Samsung F700 has a whopping 5.0 Megapixel capacity with an auto-focus cam. A keyboard always proves useful to have on a phone. The iPhone keyboard can be seen onscreen, while the Samsung F700 has a slideout QWERTY keyboard with VibeTonz. The Samsung F700 powers up on cam, support, keyboard and 36 capability, but the iPhone can offer screen resolution, email, storage, search engine, widgets, and of course, the whole iPod package. Though the Apple iPhone has always been the popular choice for this type of gadget, product competition is always there so that manufacturers can improve on previous products and develop better products later on. It is up to the consumers and tech lovers to find what are the best which are suited for them.

88

The Samsung Croix is another one of the Samsung handsets that happens to have a similar layout as the iPhone. It is not impossible that devices like these would literally take control of the market so that most of the other gadgets have to be phased out then replaced by just one. It would be more convenient for most people to relay on just one product than to have many gadgets that each do only one thing.

89

Should an iPhone Sprint Network Exist? What you need to know about Sprint is that it is a wireless network. One point that Sprint likes to promote is its Network Speed. There is a huge difference between using the iPhone and using any Sprint products. The iPhone is compatible only with EDGE and GSM networks, therefore slower download can be experienced when you use the iPhone with the Sprint network. The Sprint network coverage reaches up to 208 million people in many countries, and covers more than 1,000 airports and 11,000 cities. Sprint is also the leading wireless network provider to businesses. Sprint offers different kinds of Smartphones that may suit your particular needs. Some of the phones they offer give you more choices that allow you from being affected by the negative side of choosing the iPhone. Some of the negatives Sprint people point out are the unsecured functions of the iPhone for sending email (since the iPhone uses Yahoo and Mac email); the virtual keyboard that many iPhone users are not happy using; the iPhone has no external storage or expansion slots; and it operates on the GSM and EDGE networks which is slower than that of the Sprint network. The iPhone price usually sells up to $600. Within this price range, there are many smartphones from Sprint that are offered and may appear to have even greater value. These Sprint smartphones may also have features similar to that of the iPhone, and in a price range that is affordable for anyone who can afford an iPhone

90

, and most of the time much less expensive than the Apple product anyway. Industry publishers and analysts agree that Sprint is the leading industry player as far as innovation and technology are concerned. If you believe IDC, Wall Street Journal and Yankee Group, then you might say that Sprint is on its way to successfully building its 4G network (which can be 4 times faster than the network speed we experience today.)

Understanding the iPhone Unlock Issue First of all, why unlock your iPhone? The iPhone unlocking process enables the iPhone to use other SIM Cards so that you can venture onto other networks. There are installers available throughout the Internet devoted solely to iPhone unlocking. After downloading the software, there are steps you must go through to unlock your iPhone. The steps that are provided below work on Firmware V1.1.2 or V1.1.1. •

First, make sure that the PIN in your SIM-Card is turned off, same with the power on your phone.

Next, while the activation screen is open, put on emergency dial and key in *#301# to call the phone itself. (If you notice, the incoming call dialog disappears quickly, so just key in 0, but remove the *#301# first.)

• •

Then answer the call and put it on HOLD. The phone will then call itself once again and press DECLINE. From then on, you will be back at the normal dialer.

Press on contacts and the + icon to add another entry. You will have to input 2 URL's. Just press on Add new URL. The first URL is prefs: and the next one is jailbreakme.com and then save it.

92

Select the first one and connect on Wi-Fi. Press the HOME button and use emergency dial 0, take the call, HOLD and then DECLINE to get the contacts. Got o contacts and select jailbreakme.com.

Read through the webpage, and then install AppSnapp.

This will take you to the activation screen, and the phone will automatically restart after a minute. After that, the phone will no longer be at Slide for emergency, but changed to slide to unlock.

93

Have You Ever Witnessed the iPhone Unlocked? Unfortunately for those who believed the SIM lock system of the iPhone from the Apple Computer to be impenetrable, there are now people who do know how to unlock that SIM lock system without asking for permission from Apple Computer. One company that was able to do that is a team of techies from iPhoneSIMfree.com who created their own unique software just to prove the SIM lock system of the iPhone can indeed be unlocked which just proves that no security system is 100% intruder proof all the time. The six people from iPhoneSIMfree.com are considered the first official group of techies who have been able to perform this feat (though if they were able to do it, maybe there are unpublicized instances of other people being able to do the same thing too.) The benefit of being able to do this is that the iPhone unlocked can now be used by consumers outside the USA with full functionality. The unlocking process of the iPhone by the six-man iPhoneSIMfree.com team requires only a few minutes and does not leave any undesirable side effects on the performance of your iPhone. You will only find the root menu installed with Carrier settings which permit you to select a specific network for your use. The team claimed that their process leaves your iPhone restore-resistant afterwards. It may be possible that iPhoneSIMfree.com may eventually try to cash in on their new technology to unlock the iPhone technology as well.

94

Where Can I Get Beautiful Yet Affordable iPhone Wallpaper? iPhone Wallpaper comes in a wide variety of designs nowadays and so do their prices. Online alone there are many websites which cater to this market. But you need to be cautious about downloading iPhone Wallpaper because sometimes other programs get downloaded into your iPhone with the wallpaper (and some of these programs are malicious.) The range of iPhone Wallpaper also include rather pornographic material (called adult-oriented material for legal purposes sometimes) so if you are inclined that way there are websites which will provide that for you. For those with less wild or conservative inclinations, there are other types of wallpaper for your iPhone unit, including photos and spoofs of the great Steve Jobs himself. Another type of iPhone Wallpaper that you might want to try on your unit is composed of those based on Japanese manga or anime characters. This would appeal to fans of Japanese animation, or those who just like the way these cartoons look on their iPhone. Surprisingly, majority of those who are fanatical about buying the iPhone itself and any accessories related to iPhone usage are male consumers, whose age is 35 years old at the most, and who are relatively highly educated (meaning they have earned at least a four-year degree and may have attained higher education too.)

95

One limitation of the iPhone is that it might not be able to accept third-party software into its system so before buying iPhone software to serve as wallpaper, better make sure your iPhone can accept it.

96

New Nokia Phone Mimics iPhone Features iPhone is considered as the initiator of multi touch screen with virtual keyboard technology. The features that tagged iPhone as a revolutionary device includes having a portable media player (iPod), advanced web browsing and Wi-fi connectivity. With these amazing features, all in one mobile phone no wonder other companies are trying to imitate the same kind of technology. Mobile companies such as Nokia released a mobile phone just like iPhone. Nokia's S60 also offers touch screen software just like an iPhone. Nokia is one of the leading mobile companies that offer high end mobile phones. With their latest design, they are now providing their clients a quick look at the Nokia interface design which they plan to introduce this year. With iPhone as the initiator of these amazing features, mobile companies are now joining the mobile bandwagon in touch screen, Wi-Fi connectivity and 3G technologies. Having this kind of competition is a great way to improve ones product and services. It also provides consumers various alternatives to choose from. Thus, giving them freedom to pick better and affordable mobile phones that will satisfy their needs and lifestyle. Nokia with its iPhone-ish features will surely stimulate the market especially

97

those who support their product. But the fact still remains that iPhone led the way to the future mobile technology. With the fast growing demand for 3G technology in the market, mobile companies are expected to innovate better features and devices that will fit the consumers' needs in this generation. As for iPhone, they already came up with new and better version of iPhone with 3G technology which is scheduled to be released this year.

98

Owning an Unlocked iPhone The iPhone is an amazing mobile phone that is capable of multimedia applications as well as Internet access. With its touchscreen capability, it allows mobile enthusiasts to control everything by just tapping the screen. This revolutionary phone also has a full virtual keyboard that allows you to send SMS messages. Currently iPhone is exclusively distributed and locked exclusively to T-Mobile, Orange, and AT&T. An unlocked iPhone has been the challenge of many hackers ever since the iPhone was released in June 2007. In Germany, a mobile carrier is not allowed to lock a phone's SIM to their system. With this rule in place, T-Mobile announced that it will sell unlocked iPhone for more than $1,000 per piece. In the USA, AT&T supposedly paid a huge amount of money for exclusive rights to the commodity for five years. This means that an unlocked iPhone would have to be put on hold, and will not be sold in the US, until after the contract ended. In the race for an unlocked iPhone, a New Jersey teenager from Glen Rock by the name of George Hotz finally was able to create an unlocked iPhone. He eventually sold the rights of his discovery after CertiCell, a phone repair shop offered him a sports car and more iPhones to play with. A few months later, a team of mobile experts have again officially unlocked Apple's SIM locks for the iPhone by using a software custom-made to make the iPhone an unlocked iPhone.

99

As of the moment, they have not yet confirmed the release of software to the public but it is almost sure that one day it will be freely available on the web for download and installation.

100

The Unlock iPhone Patch The iPhone is one of the most remarkable mobile phones released in 2007. This device has earned iPhone a recognition from Time Magazine as The Invention of the Year in 2007 . Almost immediately after its release in June 2007, several mobile phone enthusiasts were already hacking their way to unlock the iPhone. Some even went to the point of disassembling the iPhone just to get to know the engineering behind the technology. In a matter of weeks, a New Jersey teenage resident was the first to unlock the iPhone and he was rewarded by a cell phone repair shop with a brand new sports car for his triumph! Unlock iPhone websites were up and running a few days later. Since it was introduced a year ago, many patches and updates were already offered for the user. At the same time, hackers and mobile experts were only ever so eager to make new unlock iPhone patches. As of today, there are already several software downloads the feature unlock iPhone patches even for the latest version. There are also unlock iPhone patches that have firmware version downgrade patches. Apple has responded to these unlock iPhone patches with firmware updates that warn users of modded iPhones of potentially irreversible damage to their units, turning them into expensive bricks if patches were applied. They have sternly warned iPhone users that using unlock iPhone patches will void all warranties and will no longer be eligible for technical support. This has made iPhone users more wary of unlock iPhone patches.

Verizon iPhone Killer Apple's iPhone is a phone with multimedia and internet capabilities. It has a touch screen capable of multiple taps and a virtual keyboard and buttons. Before the launch of the iPhone, it was offered to Voyager as early as two years ago. They were not able to reach a mutually beneficial agreement and therefore the Verizon iPhone never materialized. Verizon eventually signed up with LG electronics and they came with their own Verizon iPhone look-alike called the Voyager. The Voyager is a product produced by LG Electronics and distributed only through Verizon Wireless. This mobile phone looks just like the iPhone--with a full keypad that slides down to have a full view touch screen. To many, the Voyager was dubbed as the Verizon iPhone. The Verizon Wireless introduced four models of brand new mobile phones to compete with iPhone. Because LG's Voyager mobile phone looks a lot like Apple's iPhone, including its huge touch screen that slides sideways to have a full view of the keypad, this will definitely steal people's attention away from the iPhone. This Verizon iPhone look-alike with a full QWERTY keypad gives users a choice in how they can access the phone's features and other capabilities. And just like the iPhone, the Verizon iPhone look-alike also has shortcut menus which is remarkably similar to the iPhone. The Voyager from LG also has an edge over the iPhone because it has 3G capabilities which is definitely faster then the Edge technology.

102

The Verizon iPhone killer will definitely be the thing to watch as it battles it over the cell phone industry.

103

Did Apple Produce Cell phones that Pleased Anyone Before? Ever since Apple Computer was set up and started competing in the Information Technology industry, it has been known for its well-made computers (but not for cell phones.) Then it came out with the iPod and things started changing for Apple, it seemed that hip techno fans liked the iPod.

104

Apple iPhone, a Picture of Modernday Technology at its Finest You most probably have an idea how an iPhone looks like. With its release coupled with news hypes and buzz reports, you definitely have seen a picture of an Apple iPhone. You must not deny the fact that you fell in love with this hot product the mere sight of it. It has a lot of exciting new features, with the multi-touch interface as one of the favorites. Its sleek design may be compared to a gaming console or a typical palm or PDA, but still its appeal is so highly recognized around the world. Some fans even traveled to the US or pre-ordered one even though it is not yet available in certain locations. The iPhone craze has truly captured the hearts of many, proving that technology has still a lot to offer to the changing demands of the public. The iPhone in itself can still be considered as a baby. This means that there are still a lot more that users and fans alike can expect in the coming days. You might have a glimpse in the past on how mobile phones look like and how models have evolved from a typical device used to take calls to a modern day personal and household gadget. It is simply amazing how today's technology has changed people's lifestyle. With the birth of iPhone in other neighboring countries and the incorporation of some additional features such as 3G compatibility and other software updates, expect that this will

105

surely create some more noise; a blast that will definitely change people's perspective on how a mobile phone looks like. This is what you call power of innovation.

106

Still Available: Apple Inc.'s iPhone and 3G Technology iPhone has indeed surpassed the usual functions of a mobile phone. This multi media device is designed for work and entertainment. Aside from its iPod features, this mobile phone functions as a camera phone, multi touch screen that has virtual buttons and keypad, visual voicemail and web- browsing. Apple Inc. made it available to designated iPhone distributors such as AT&T, Orange and T Mobile. They are the official networks that provide iPhone services in Europe and the United States. With Apple Inc.'s first introduction of iPhone, mobile enthusiasts are glued on updates on when they will launch it in the market. This mobile phone is available in GSM standard and has the international capacity. One of the most interesting features of this device is its web browsing ability and Wi- Fi connectivity. This will enable users to do their work, send email and browse the internet anytime, anywhere. There are also available unlocked iPhone online that can be used in other countries. These services provide software that can unlock iPhone units that will cost users for about $49.00. If users are willing to open their units, a fee of $9.97 is charged by online stores. Apple continues to develop iPhone into a more advanced mobile technology to fit the increasing demand of modern communications. That is why this year, Apple will release their 3G iPhone to suit the advanced telecommunication needs of most professionals. With this available technology, iPhone will surely lead the way to the future mobile industry.

Cingular iPhones also allows integration with the other features of

The Legal Troubles Surrounding the Apple Cisco iPhone The dispute started because Cisco stated it has the rights to the iPhone trademark since this big time networking company Cisco claimed it has the original rights to the iPhone trademark. The lawsuit filed by Cisco against Apple was the last action taken by it after attempts to pursue negotiations were unsuccessful followed by the launch of the iPhone by Apple Inc. at the MacWorld Expo. The launch of the Apple iPhone was the trigger that resulted in the legal conflict between Apple and Cisco. Cisco said it has owned the iPhone trademark since year 2000. Apple expressed confidence that they would win the case, while Cisco stood pat on its claim that they owned the trademark rights and wanted Apple to respect their intellectual property rights. The confusion among consumers regarding the product and the similarity in names was among one of the chief Cisco complaints. The complaints about the iPhone did not stop there. There are reports that Apple may be facing yet another trademark problem in Canada, where a company called Comwave Telecom has been using the name iPhone since 2004 for their Internet phone service for their own clients. But as for the Apple-Cisco face off, as of February 21, 2007, Apple and Cisco announced they had resolved their problem about the iPhone trademark. Originally, Cisco had the rights to use the trademark name iPhone, but after that long dispute, Cisco and Apple came to an agreement that both of them may get to use the trademark iPhone throughout the world. Apple and Cisco have acknowledged joint ownership rights over the iPhone, which thus

110

dismisses any future discussions concerning the iPhone trademark name. Furthermore, both Apple and Cisco have the rights to explore prospects for interoperability in enterprise, consumer communications and security issues. Other agreements by Cisco and Apple are now treated in a confidential manner.

Pros & Cons: An Apple iPhone Review

Time Magazine has tagged it as the "best gadget for 2007", and prior to its launching in June of the same year, no other gadget has lived up to the buzz that was created by the iPhone. The question is: does it really live up to the hype? Read on to learn more about the pros and cons of Apple's latest technological innovation known as the iPhone. First, let us take a look at its basic features. An 8GB memory is not bad for a mobile phone of its kind. The phone itself is sleekly designed which fits right in the palm of your hand. Instead of the usual keypad, this has a multitouch screen interface where you can virtually type on the keys to access the phone's different functions. iPhone's widescreen features ups the ante to your music listening and video viewing experience due to its crystal-clear display. Another cool feature of the iPhone is its full screen web browser which uses Safari to view the actual webpages that you visit with your laptop or desktop computer. On the downside, however, the iPhone have less-than-stellar call quality. It also does not have 3G technology and other features found in most mobile phones like stereo Bluetooth support. All in all, the iPhone is a combination of all the features from your beloved iPod, PC with Internet access and mobile phone. If you can't wait to get your hands on this candy bar phone, you can get yours now at less than $400. However, your patience will surely

113

pay off if you wait until a newer edition comes out of the market, which might just integrate 3D calling, multimedia messaging and other common phone functionalities that the current iPhone is lacking.

Can You Call iPhone Perfect As It Is Now? The reviews about the iPhone are great, but then again, what do you expect from a company like Apple? They relied on a great unique and sleek design to make the iPhone and now they have the award to prove they were right to use that. What else can you ask for? The iPhone is a great gadget but now it can be hacked too so you can change its settings to optimize your own needs. Some of the reviews about the iPhone are pretty positive, and some of them might make you think twice before trying to own an iPhone for yourself. The most common reaction among those who write the reviews is that the touch screen works perfectly. The iPhone was flawlessly designed in both the user interface aspect and with regards to its technical functions. Whether you opt to play music, take or make a call, and compose or send email, the touch screen always seems to get it right. It is a simple, yet a very cool phone. No pauses, no long waiting, because it is a fast and dependable mobile phone to use, that is the good news. The bad news is, the touch screen works only with direct skin contact. Meaning, it does not work when you have gloves on. Still, the screen is more scratch resistant than an iPod anyway which is pretty good. Though the virtual keyboard is a big improvement over the features of other smart phones, some still find it hard to use. The

115

buttons are larger and you do not have to hit it at the center light tap will work just fine.

one

The iPhone has a very beautiful display, fast speed of operation and great connectivity. Though this phone may be great for some, you just cannot please everyone. Hopefully, in the long run, more and more applications and improvements will be available through further studies and developments so that every user will find the iPhone perfect for their needs.

The Need for an Exclusive iPhone Carrier The long-awaited moment will soon arrive for iPhone fanatics in other parts of the world as Apple Inc. has plans of launching this exciting new technology on selected locations come 2008. This will only be possible, if and only if, Apple Inc. has already negotiated with a local mobile phone company that will act as the exclusive carrier of iPhone on that particular location. This seems to be the trend with iPhone. It started with Cingular/AT&T Wireless as the sole carrier for iPhone in the United States. There is no official statement yet that has been declared in the past as to when this exclusive bond between Apple Inc. and Cingular/AT&T Wireless will end. Though, there have been numerous buzz reports that TMobile customers will wait for a long time before it will be made available to them. You might be asking “Why come up with such decision?” Steve Jobs, Apple Inc.'s CEO, announced earlier that Cingular is the best and most widely used in the US so they have decided to partner with them. This so-called trend continued with the release of iPhone in the United Kingdom, France and Germany last November of 2007. In the UK, O2 signed a contract with Apple Inc. as its exclusive carrier. In France and Germany, Apple Inc. has made deals with

117

Orange and T-Mobile respectively. For Canadian users, some reports pointed out Rogers Wireless will be iPhone's exclusive carrier with its launch also set in 2008. But then again, these are just mere speculations and Apple Inc. has yet to release its official statement once everything went well. The coming of iPhones on your location might be sooner that what you expect.

118

Free iPhone from Cingular The introduction of Apple, Inc of iPhone has been given full exclusive distributorship too Cingular. For one to own an iPhone is buy the unit for as low as $499 and high as $599. The data plan is what would require a monthly plan and this is where Cingular would generate income. It might be that Cingular would give out free iPhone but the cost of such would probably be embedded in the cost of the plan. The Cingular iPhone contract would hold from one to two years. Due to the cost of the iPhone and its maintenance cost, Cingular and Apple should team up on doing a special pricing plan to have interested parties get enticed of owning an iPhone. Both companies should offer an introductory "free" month of data service for the iPhone. How nice it is to get hold of an iPhone and pay them on installment or as part of the contract plan. It would be easy to the pocket as these are acquired on installment without necessarily shelving out one time the cost of the device. After all in contract agreements, the warranty and service are provided which also protect buyers in the long end. Offering a contract plan but making it look that the iPhone is free would attract a lot of interested parties of owning an iPhone. Owning an iPhone is a lifestyle, yet it can also be helpful for those busy businessmen who frequently go out of town or outside the country.

When iPhone Dominates, A Look-back at the Coming of the iPhone Nokia and Sony Ericsson are two of the leaders that dominated the mobile phone market, not only in the United States but also some parts of the world. Releasing different models every year, these two companies have introduced a whole new mobile phone experience, integrating text, call and voicemail capabilities with multimedia features such as music, video, camera and web connectivity. Now, it seems that you can do almost everything with your mobile phone. It is like a one stop shop that offers a lot of features for everybody to enjoy at their own convenience. Now the competition in the mobile phone market has been greatly affected by the coming of a hot product now known as the iPhone. Designed and introduced by Apple Inc., the iPhone is not your regular mobile phone. It may have some features that appear to be almost similar with other mobile phone models. But then again, what makes this product amazingly different is its multi-touch screen plus virtual keyboard features, in addition to its unique music player that functions like an iPod. This product has received rave reviews that it was declared by Time Magazine as the Invention of the Year for 2007. Now that's something that every iPhone user should be proud of. Officially, the iPhone was made available to the US market last June 29, 2007 and was released almost four months after in

120

neighboring countries such as United Kingdom, France and Germany. There is no definite date has been set yet with its availability in the Asian circuit and other parts of the world. If everything went well with the negotiations and all, 2008 might be the best year. Just keep your fingers crossed and the iPhone experience will definitely come right at your doorsteps this 2008.

Commercial iPhone: The Launch Commercial's Lack of Time In the quest to sell more and more iPhones to the public, Apple Inc. has seen to it that it has effective publicity moves that can greatly affect the buying public's perception of the product. There is no doubt at all that publicity is important in the effective selling and success of any product. In terms of viability, the iPhone is already a great item or product to have handy inside one's pocket, but its price leaves it less to be desired. It is therefore important and wise to have a publicity bliss for the product, which was what Apple Inc. did. In preparing the people's perception to the product and presenting it as a whole new and revolutionary, yet innovative product that no current technological gadget can rival, the Company was able to prepare the public to face and not be at awe with the product's price. And the publicity and launch commercials were too good that the public were not only impressed with the product, but also felt that the commercials were too short and unclear to in terms of being able to fully present the iPhones. There was also the perception that the commercials ought to have focused more on the presentation of the product itself and not on other things. And so in other matters concerning the commercials about iPhones, many people have remarked that these launch commercials have been too time-compressed to satisfy the demands of the people for more information about iPhone. Also, critics of the

122

commercials are lamenting the absence of many and direly important information in the launch commercials.

123

So How Much does an iPhone Cost Now?

If you were one of the first people to get in line when the iPhone was first released in Apple stores in June, you may just be a tad bit disappointed to see the price drop to almost $200. The initial cost of the iPhone when it was launched in June 2007 was $599. Now, you can get this nifty mobile device for as low as $399. However, it is good news for those who have long been wanting to purchase the iPhone. Initially, the phone is exclusively activate by AT&T so existing customers of this wireless service provider can get a discounted rate for the services. For those who would like to purchase the iPhone but are not AT&T subscribers yet, the phone can be purchased for $399. When it comes to the plan that the company has for the services, the costs range from $59.99 to $99.99. The price of their family plans range from $109 to $149. With such a decline in price, does this mean that iPhone did not live up to its hype? Not necessarily. Although there are some obvious flaws when it comes to the 'mobile phone functionality' of the iPhone, it is, after all, a phone instead of a glorified iPod many tech reviewers still believe that the iPhone is worth all the buzz. When it comes to innovation, unique features and being an eye candy, then nothing will beat the iPhone if you compare it with the latest phones in the market today. Aside from having a touch screen interface, you can also easily connect to the Internet, and have an amazing multimedia player with excellent screen quality.

A Look Back Into the Day that iPhone was Released

Think of buyers lining up stores for days even before the gadget was set to be released, this was a typical scenario in Apple stores when the iPhone was formally launched in the US, June 29th of last year. There was media frenzy and buyer's hype surrounding the launching of the ultimate mobile phone, which did not disappoint users when it comes to the cool features included. Think of a widescreen, touchpad version of your beloved iPod and then throw in a wide array of mobile phone and Internet connectivity features: that is what the iPhone is all about, and more. Here's a quick look back into the day that the iPhone was first released in the country. It all started when Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs announced the launching of the iPhone at the Macworld convention. Instead of the company launching another Personal Digital Assistant, they went on a more, massively popular path and tried to take in the mobile phone users market. This is how all the media hype was developed. If Apple will release a mobile phone, how will they revolutionize the way that people talk and communicate? What nifty features will they include? Will the iPhone imitate the way that the iPod has revolutionized the way that people listen to music and hold a media player on the palm of their hand?

125

In June of 2007, excited buyers lined up the stores. In spite of the initial problems, Apple sold one million iPhone in less than three months. With their impressive sales and the continuous improvement and development of the device, there is no doubt that the iPhone is set to be the ultimate mobile phone device for the year to come.

126

The Real Deal: How much is the iPhone 8GB Model Nowadays? Have you heard about this? You can now have your own iPhone 8GB model for only $399, a drop of $200 from its original price. Yes, you heard it right& though this may come as a late notice already. If you have been saving bucks just to purchase your new iPhone, now is the right time to buy. Just go to the nearest iPhone distributor on your area to still avail of this exciting new offer. Apple Inc. announced earlier, September of last year to be exact, that they are on their way to sell the one millionth unit of iPhone. To thank the public for the tremendous support that they got and the holiday season then is just almost around the corner, they have decided to lower the price of iPhone and make it more affordable. Now that's real good news& but not for all. Lowering the price of iPhone has been an issue to customers who previously bought the product at $599. This made some people upset and disappointed that it even went as far as reaching the attention of Steve Jobs, Apple Inc.'s CEO. He released an official statement a few weeks after the announcement of lowering the price of iPhone, to make an appeal to their loyal customers and enumerated their business reasons why they end up having such decision. Come to think of it, it will still be a win-win situation to Apple Inc. and their consumers as more and more people will be given the chance to experience such an amazing technology. Steve

131

Jobs also indicated that old customers can expect no changes will be made to their current service and that Apple will continue to strive on coming up with new and exciting innovations to live up with their customers' high expectations.

132

iPhone 8GB Model, Surviving the Changing Times The iPhone by Apple Inc. has been one of the great innovations in mobile phone technology that it was even recognized by Time Magazine as the Invention of the Year in 2007. Such accomplishment can be attributed to the iPhone's many adoring fans that it reached on top of the competition in just a matter of 2 months. As reported by Apple Inc. and AT&T, it has surpassed way beyond expectations as 270,000 units were sold in its first 30 hours of release alone, with 146,000 phones activated at the same time. By September of 2007, Apple Inc. announced its sales reaching the 1 million mark (in number of units), followed by a statement nearly a month later declaring a total of US $1.39 million in iPhones sales. There is no way to put an end to the enormous success of iPhones, as plans of distribution to other countries is set to happen in 2008. With its November 2007 release in countries such as the United Kingdom, France and Germany, more and more people have been touched by the iPhone phenomenon. Though there may be some side issues concerning exclusive carrier rights (web and media player features can be activated only by an authorized carrier), still the iPhone is a hit to many. At first, two versions were released in the market with the only difference lies in the phone memory, 4 GB versus 8 GB. But then again, Apple Inc. announced earlier that iPhones can now be obtained in 8 GB memory only for $399. 4 GB phones are only

133

available in retail stores with remaining supplies available. New models are set to be released in 2008 as well.

134

Longing for an iPhone in Canada Where the iPhones have been released in the USA and UK, Canada has long been waiting to get hold of iPhones in Canada. It has become a joke that some would have to smuggle iPhones in the USA just to bring iPhones in Canada. It seems that Apple, Inc. will not release the CDMA version of the iPhone, which Canadians get stuck with the service of Rogers, the largest Canadian GSM wireless carrier. The release of the Canadian iPhone will be on early 2008 and can only be bought through Rogers. It is estimated that the cost of the iPhone would be around $799 to $899. The purchased would include a two to three year contract with Rogers and the supply of the units will be limited. Those desiring to have an iPhone would most likely buy the unit without service provider that could range from $ 1099 to $1299$ or more. The data plans should also be purchased as these are not cheap in Canada. Rogers being the sole provider for iPhone is feared to be a show stopper of most TV programs and movies seen on iPhone. This also includes searching the internet. It is also expected that the fees would be extremely high compared to the data connection in the USA due to lack of competition. This is one of the reasons why Apple, Inc is quite hesitant to have the iPhone released in Canada. Taking aside all the apprehension, the iPhone is soon to be in Canada and surely Canadians are dying to get hold of one the moment these are offered over the counter.

135

The real cost of owning an iPhone The introduction of the iPhone in the market industry has brought a lot of phone users to think wisely of whether purchasing an iPhone would be economical and same time live up with their lifestyle. Owning an iPhone is a lifestyle particularly to those who value the looks of the phones they carry. The cost of Apple's iPhone 4GB model is $499 excluding tax. Inasmuch as iPhones use a SIM card, users are given the option as to the service company that will provide connectivity. Plan features vary. The monthly cost of plans depends on the number of text messages that can be sent and the number of calls to be made limited or unlimited. A $59.99 plan allows 450 minutes talk time in a month and 200 text messages, giving a ballpark figure of $1974++. The figure includes the iPhone cost, the plan and activation plan plus taxes. But a shiny new iPhone with a 450 minutes talk time in a month will not be sufficient especially for busy people on the go. The iPhone cost varies according to the GB that is opted by users. A 4GB cost $499, and an 8GB cost $599. Not all the features of the iPhone are free. To download iTunes and avail of Voice mail require payment a certain fee as well. It is a lifestyle for the rich and for those who are into owning a classy fashionable cell phone. It is hoped that just like other mobile phones, the iPhone will lower its cost in the months to come.

136

Lighten it, make it Flat To own an iPhone is quite expensive and costly to maintain one. Other than the unit being pricey, the plan is quite expensive as well. The iPhone is used to browse the web, check e-mail and access other information in more than 29 countries, including Canada, China, Mexico and in areas throughout Europe and Asia. The access of these features has caused discontentment among users as it entails higher cost in the data usage that escalates the monthly bill. To answer the customer dissatisfaction, a flat rate international data plan that starts from $25 per month has been offered by service company providers. A $60 Data Global Plan offers iPhone users a 50 MB of data per month to browse the Web check e-mail and access other information in more than 29 countries. Such plan includes the domestic voice and data iPhone plan acquired during iPhone activation. The flat rate plan enables international voice and data roaming, and international long distance dialing from the United States at standard rates. The flat rate fee was answer to accommodate customer who traveled overseas who bring along with them their iPhones and not to astound them by the high roaming charges as they return home. Other than the flat rate offer for data usage, companies also offer rate fees for iPhone music service. Downloading of music over a 3G (third generation) mobile phone networks can be done between 30 seconds and one minute. Service companies' music station service includes features, such as messaging and the ability to share play lists and tracks.

137

Indeed, the cost of owning and maintaining an iPhone is starting to unburden the pockets of iPhone users. Thanks to companies who have come up with iPhone flat rate fees.

138

iPhones for Sale, Making a Mark in the Mobile Phone Industry Are you the type wherein you almost have all the newly released gadgets in the tech market today? If the Apple Inc. has changed the way people listen to music files through the birth of the iPod, now the iPhone introduces a whole new multimedia experience that no ordinary mobile phone can provide you. Though it is only made available to a few countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and France, still the iPhone craze has already reached different parts of the globe and is considered one of the ultimate must haves of many or simply everybody's number one wish list this new year. Tagged as Time Magazine's Invention of the Year for 2007, the Apple Inc. has reported that over 270,000 units of iPhone were sold within its first 30 hours of release on a launch weekend. 139

hold of it, then you can check out various web sites to actually purchase it. In addition, Apple Inc. promises to include more features to iPhone as a new version of it will be introduced in 2008. This will definitely make more people go gaga over this hot new product.

140

Is it worth the price of an iPhone If you are the type of person who would like to be always in fashion trend, owning an iPhone is one of the most classy and cool thing to have. iPhones was designed and introduced by Apple, Inc. that is designed as a multi-media, internet capable mobile phone. What is so cool about iPhones is its touch screen because it is case sensitive, that the use of stylus is not required. It is so light that you cannot carry it anywhere and you can even work on sending email and as well as attached photos or word file, excel or pdf file. Those busy users who do frequent travel are able to manage and attend to their clients with use of iPhone. iPhone prices vary according to the features that the phone provides. For a 4GB iPhone the selling price in the market is at $499 and the 8GB iPhone is priced at $599 per unit. The price of the iPhone does not include the service connectivity to the users intended plan. Plans differ also in terms of the number of minutes users of iPhone intends to have. This also goes for the number of text messaging that users can send. The iPhone provides features such as watching TV or movies, Voice mail, voice conferencing, World Wide Web access etc. The access to these is matched with a fee to enjoy such. It might be sometime before everyone could afford to have an iPhone as the demand for iPhones are high. If that happens, how nice it is to carry one shiny cased mobile that has all the luxury of communicating easily with others.

141

The move to recall iPhones For an iPhone designed by Apple, Inc. the expectation is very high. It should be the best as it is Macintosh. But there instances that due to unavoidable circumstances along the production and distribution something gets along the way. Apple, Inc. had to recall the first batch of iPhones it has released after users have reported problems with its on-board toaster. This is one of the best things that Apple, Inc. has done, to be humble enough to accept their mistakes and apologize to its customers. It was also found out that the iPhones have been built without microphones installed on it. This has been discovered after having retrieved the first batch iPhones and Apple, Inc. had realized it. Perhaps, it was too early for users to discover themselves as they have been recalled soon. The cost of the iPhone is too expensive for one to own. But it pays off for the features that it provides. One good thing about defective iPhones is that Apple would recall the iPhones and have the defects sorted out. The Iphone is expected to live up to the hype and the communication qualities what iPod has did for entertainment and music/movies. Apple, Inc. deserves success and works very hard to provide quality products. They make sure that customers are happy. If there is a need to recall iPhones found to be faulty they would do so rather lose their name in the industry. That is how Apple, Inc. are committed to serve its client's well.

Ringtone Customization, A Great iPhone Feature At first, ringtones on mobile phones are preset and are only limited to monotones. A monotone is compared to a melody played on the piano without accompaniment from any other music instrument. It is usually short but it will continuously play on your phone unless you answer the call. After a while, polytones became popular. With polytones, you can now hear other music instruments playing. With the integration of music player capabilities on recently released mobile phones has paved the way in making mp3 files as ringtones. You can now change your default ringtone anytime you like, with more music selections to choose from. The iPhone also has this capability. Released only in the US on September of 2007, the ringtone feature of the iPhone allows the creation of custom ringtones. iPhone users can purchase songs on iTunes Store for 99 cents each. Custom ringtone capabilities include fading in and fading out, pause and loop. You can even make it as your default alarm tune on your iPhone. What's good about this is that users can cut 3 to 30 seconds on any part of the song to make it as the default ringtone. All customizations can be done in iTunes or use the Apple software known as GarageBand version 4.1.1 or later. Take note that this software is only made available for Mac OS X users. The ringtone is one of the many features that most customers are looking forward to on any mobile phone device. This brings more excitement to users as they hear their selected tunes playing when somebody calls them. It will surely call anyone's attention and the iPhones ringtone customization capability surely sets it apart from the rest.

Should iPhone Replace your iPod?

If you are looking for an innovative way to listen to music, place calls and have a mobile means of connecting to the Internet, then an iPhone is a must-have device for you. When it was first launched in the market on the second half of 2007, it caused such a stir in the media and people literally lined up the Apple stores to lay claim to the fact that they are one of the very first owners of the iPhone. Basically, the iPhone performs three functions all rolled into one sleekly designed gadget. Aside from using it as your phone to place and receive calls, you can also use the iPhone to replace you iPod, and it serves as a mobile means to connect to the Internet. It has an 8GB memory which is satisfactory enough for a mobile phone of this kind. iPhone Features: convenience in Multi-tasking The public's perception that Apple Inc.'s iPhone was one of the most revolutionary and innovative technological gadgets ever made in this current year. And this perception is not altogether a bad perception, as it is in fact a near perfect perception to have. This is a perception that is very much prevalent in the near opening of the iPhone sales and the post-opening days as the people experienced the good and bad sides of the cellular phone. Being touted as a revolutionary product, the iPhone has a feature that includes a HTML email client, which gives it quite an edge over other cellular phones out there. iPhone Offers a Wide Array of Fun Features

With all the hype that surrounded the launching of iPhone on the first part of 2007, you cannot help but wonder whether all the buzz is really worth it. At first, there were some problems with the activation but iPhone users who lined up the stores to grab a unit of this nifty gadget were not disappointed with the slew of fun and high-tech features that it has to offer. With iPhone, "fun" is the keyword since no other cellular or mobile device in the market can equal the cool features that it has to offer. First up, an iPhone user cannot help but be amazed at the size and quality of the screen. The clarity of the images is startling , and instead of the usual keypad, it utilizes the touch screen technology. Second, it is a wonderful media player that can play music, the quality of which rivals its predecessor which is the iPod. It also performs the functionalities of a basic camera phone. Naturally, the iPhone offers the other functions of your regular cellular phone which includes text messaging, e-mail, web-browsing and Wi-Fi connectivity. Another convenient feature about the iPhone is that it fits the palm of your hands nicely. This 8GB phone gives you ample storage for the price. Apple, the manufacturer of iPhone, are still working on improvements to further enhance the features and functionality of this revolutionary mobile phone. Despite its flaws, you still cannot deny the fact that

148

the iPhone was worth all the buzz because it is still the coolest mobile device to have around.

149

Why pursue an iPhone Hack? Apple has designed the iPhone as a closed system smartphone, meaning you cannot add other applications on it - not even the popular types of cell phone applications and other features such as customized ring tones. But hackers nowadays seem to be more persistent than ever since talented hackers have proven they are able to crack the iPhone security code and make modifications and other sorts of changes to optimize the iPhone. This development is truly impressive since it has been a very short time since the iPhone was launched in the market. Some of the cracks in the iPhone system that hackers are able to take advantage of, modify and change are the installation of new and customized ring tones, and integration of additional applications (such as Nintendo emulator and screen capture program) into the original system. Hacking the iPhone usually takes just 30 to 45 minutes, and it is not a complicated process. It is done by creating unique software and codes to crack the original iPhone code. When your iPhone is hacked, the iPhone system opens itself to the use of many sorts of applications. Why hack your iPhone? To some it does not make sense, but adding some new ring tones may seem to be a sensible enough reason to hack your iPhone for others. Though this is all that many iPhone hackers can do for the moment, for some hackers it could be fun, give their iPhone a uniqueness from within, and prepare the iPhone unit itself for future applications that might be cool to have on the iPhone.

150

What should Apple do about the fast pace of progress in hacking? It is not just fast, it is inevitable because applications are being quickly developed for those consumers who need and want these hacking innovations. Though it is not a necessity, for these hackers it is still fun to do stuff that you know could optimize the gadget you bought for hundreds of dollars.

151

iPhone Hacks May Cause Irreparable Damage iPhone mobile phones are in demand these days. Especially when it was first launched, Apple fans and mobile enthusiasts can get their eyes off this revolutionary device. Come to think of it, this mobile phone indeed created a great impact and changed how cell phones are perceived. With its touch screen features using a virtual buttons and keypad, visual voice mail, web enabled and Wi-Fi capability, people just can't wait to get their hands on this newest mobile phone. Its release in the market also gave way to iPhone hacks and unlocking services. Ever since it was launched mobile experts and hackers tried to unlock this device to open it to other network services. Currently Apple officially distributes iPhone support and services to AT&T, Orange and T Mobile. iPhone hacks can be seen all over the internet. With just one click, people can avail their various services. iPhone hacks vary from different services. If users agree to open their iPhone case, they can have it unlocked by just paying for less than $10.00. Aside from that, users can choose downloading iPhone unlock software without opening the case. This option is much expensive for it will cost about $50.00 per software download. Apple does not recommend availing any of these services for it will create irreparable damages the iPhone unit. They stated that unauthorized unlocking of iPhone will definitely break iPhone's software program. This could also result to a permanent damage on the handset, when other official iPhone software are installed.

iPhone is a Better, Widescreen iPod

For about six years now, millions of people all over the world have been enjoying the way that Apple Incorporated has revolutionized the way that they listen to music, with the use of their beloved iPod's. But what if the company can take this to another level, and include mobile phone functionalities with music playing capabilities? This is the technological wonder known as the iPhone, which is tagged as Time Magazine's chosen gadget for the year 2007. Despite the flaws found by the initial, iPhone has still managed to improve the features of the usual mobile phones released in the market today. The iPhone incorporates the music playing capabilities of the iPod and merged it mobile phone features which include: call conferencing, caller ID, call merging and call holding. iPhone has the Visual Voicemail feature which lets you visually sift through your messages and automatically delete those that you do not want without even opening them. Now, here comes the fun part. iPhones are created to rival or mimic the functionalities of its predecessor which is the iPod. iPhones are like a widescreen version of the iPod, and there is no better way to watch your movies or listen to your music on the go than by using this cool mobile device. When it comes to music quality, the iPhone is as good as the iPod , with the added bonus of having your mobile phone and music player all in once device. Finally, the crisp, crystal clear image quality of the videos on your iPhone can easily beat the ones offered by even the most expensive mobile phones in the market today.

153

With all these features and more, you will surely have a great multimedia experience with the iPhone.

154

Steve Jobs and the iPhone

Steve Jobs is the Chief Executive Office of Apple, Incorporated, the company responsible for the iMac, the iPod and now the iPhone. When you have such revolutionary technological products out in the market and you are responsible for everything that has to do with it, how hard must you be working? Pretty hard, no doubt. This 52-year old CEO is a father to four kids, and he is married to Laurene Powell. Creating a balance between your family life and your professional life must come pretty hard, but he still managed it with the launching of the revolutionary iPhone last June of 2007. Initially, Steve Jobs wanted the Apple engineers and designers to create a tablet PC so he had them investigate on touch screen technology. Believing that the company needed to 'invade' a different, yet more massively popular market, he decided to have Apple engineers work on a mobile phone instead. Aptly named the iPhone, it has set to become the latest and most innovative mobile phone in the market today. When he announced the soon-to-bereleased iPhone at the Macworld convention on January 9, 2007, the media all went crazy over how the iPhone will change the way that mobile users use a mobile phone. Just as with the initial launching of any other mobile phone in the market, Steve Jobs and his team did have some flaws on the gadget that they needed to work on but despite these challenges, this amazing CEO still managed to lead the company into selling the one millionth iPhone unit, barely three months after it was initially launched.

155

Cisco, LG and Qantum iPhone Lawsuit Ever since Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the iPhone, which is a mobile phone with multimedia capabilities that are similar to the iPod, an iPhone lawsuit immediately followed. The most popular and talked about lawsuit is probably the Cisco iPhone lawsuit filed on January 10, 2007--one day after the iPhone announcement at MacWorld. This iPhone lawsuit claims that Cisco has been the owner of the iPhone trademark when it acquired and took over Infogear in 2000. One month later, Cisco and Apple eventually reached an agreement with both companies using the iPhone name and will be mutually exploring interoperability between their products. This was not the only iPhone lawsuit filed since Apple's released the iPhone. The Head of LG Electronics Mobile Handset R&D Center, Woo-Young Kwak issued a statement claiming that the iPhone copied the LG Prada design. This iPhone lawsuit in-the-making has been in the news for several months already but LG has yet to formally file an iPhone lawsuit. A closer look at the LG Prada and the Apple iPhone actually reveals very little similarities. Aside from the design, phone features and capabilities are significantly different. Another iPhone lawsuit in-the-making claims that the touch screen technology of the iPhone and its proximity sensors are already patented by Quantum Research (QR). But QR immediately backed down on their threat stating that they will have to wait until the iPhone was released. As of today, no iPhone lawsuit has been

156

filed by QR. Quantum Research already has a pending lawsuit over Apple's iPod click wheels which they claim uses charge-transfer technology similar to the Cypress PSoC chip patented by QR.

157

iPhone Linksys: Apple Inc. and Cisco on iPhone Before the wonderful iPhone was ever released, there have been another product named iPhone, which has been made by the company known and named as from Cisco Systems. And this iPhone is a more commonly known as the Linksys iPhone, which is in itself, a line of Internet appliances that combined the power and capabilities of a regular cellular phone and a Web Terminal. The Linksys iPhone was first brought out for public sale by the company Infogear in the year of 1998. In this time, this same Company was later purchased by the company, Cisco and during the years of 2001 to 2006, Cisco refrained from releasing to the public any new products udner the said name of iPhone. This is something that came automatically under the merger of Cisco and Infogear. And with no new products being marketed under the name of iPhone, it was later pushed out of the public's mind and into the unknown world of countless and countless of technological gadgets until the conception and introduction of Apple Inc.'s iPhone. This introduction made by Apple Inc. soon brought out the word ‘iPhone' back into the public's mind as well as their desire to buy and have an experience with the revolutionary product as well. And though it may come at such a high price, the Apple Inc.'s iPhone has many capabilities that used to be part of many different kinds of gadgets. Yet, with the trademark of iPhone still in Cisco, the Company soon decided to rebrand its Linksys VoIP-based

158

cellular phones in a move that matched Apple Inc.'s and Cisco's iPhones respectively in name. This similarity in name severely caused a trademark dispute between the two Companies, but this has been resolved in the greatest of convenience.

159

iPhone Order Pre: A Costlier, yet more Convenient Venture There is no apparent reason why the Apple Inc.'s new and revolutionary product named iPhone must be dumped into the sidelines as an unprofitable object. It is very foolhardy to expect it so. And from the very beginning, the speculators were not quivering for its probable numbers of sale, rather, they were inquiring on the possible release dates, price and the stocks of iPhone. There is indeed a definite amount of fear that there may be a shortage of iPhones available for the public's use. In fact, far from being left out of the so-called iPhone mad-rush there have been people who try to order their iPhone through pre-orders, which is distinctly forbidden by the executives of Apple Inc. To ask why, is a mystery that no one can answer, but as for all concerned, Apple Inc does not allow pre-ordering. Although, there have been rumors and reports about stores accepting pre-orders from their customers, who hope to avoid the lines of waiting. Today, there are now pre-order Websites that offer their services for a higher price. It is mostly likely though that these Websites are foreign in distribution and headquarters, as most pre-order sites are to be found in places outside America. There are in fact cases where people would try to find a lower pricing for their pre-order iPhones, but it is however no doubt that these iPhones are more expensive that the iPhones bought in the stores. Sometimes, the differences in terms of the cost are at the

160

thousands of dollars and these iPhones simply do not come cheap, but in cases where convenience is the main consideration, preordering is a must.

161

The Pros and Cons of the iPhone Pic Capability The iPhone is an Internet-enabled phone which has multimedia features which were marketed and designed by Apple Inc. The main feature of the iPhone is the multi-touch screen with buttons and a virtual keyboard. The main functions of the iPhone are to allow you to use its portable media player (like the iPod, only better) and its camera phone. The added feature of visual voicemail makes text messaging a thing of the past. With its Wi-Fi capability, the iPhone also makes web-browsing and email on the go a fact of life so that you can put your PDAs to rest. With its Quad-Band capacity, the iPhone certainly proves its international capability. It supports the EDGE or Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution data technology. The downside of picture taking with the iPhone is its camera capability. Yes, a 2.0 megapixel camera is very good for taking pictures with, but the iPhone has no flash to enhance the photo quality when you have darker conditions to take pictures with. plus the iPhone also does not support video recording. Still, the iPhone package also comes with software that will allow you to upload, email and view photos in the same iPhone. You may also zoom in and zoom out the photos you have taken. The software from the package enables the user to interact with the Mac iPhoto or in the Windows Photoshop through your PCs.

162

The resolution of the pictures is considerable enough for everyday pictures, and the fact that it can capture the moments you always want to remember. A gadget like the iPhone is appealing to buy for your self because of its sleek design. You can think of it this way: imagine you are carrying a phone, a PDA, and even mobile Internet connection on the move, music and camera all in one. Not all gadgets can promise you the same thing and live up to high standards at the same time, as the iPhone can.

163

The Pros and Cons of Having your iPhone Pre-ordered

iPhone is the gadget must-have for the year 2007. With its sleek design, enhanced features and innovative interface, no mobile phone in the market equals this attention-grabbing mobile phone. When Steve Jobs announced the launching of the iPhone during the Macworld convention, the media and gadget enthusiasts are all abuzz about their expectations from the new iPhone. When the product was finally launched on the latter part of June on the same year, there was a clamor from people who want to be the first ones to have the iPhone. In the US, there was no iPhone preorder line available since that was the first time that the phone will be released in the market. In other countries, however, they have developed a pre-order line, some on websites and some on stores, so that as soon as the stock is delivered in their respective countries, they would already have placed an order for this phone which has a huge demand in the market. One example of an iPhone pre-order line is in Australia. Although there are no units in stock yet, Apple Incorporated, the manufacturers of iPhone, already foresee a high demand of their mobile device in the country. This is the reason why they have created an iPhone pre-order layby, where individuals who would like to purchase the phone can already start paying for their very own iPhone, long before the stocks arrive. In the United Kingdom, there is also a website which allows individuals to place an order for the iPhone even before the

164

stocks arrive, although there is no commitment to buy. People who will register at the website are assured that they will be contacted as soon as the units arrive.

165

167

iPhone Theme: The Demand and Artistry will Provide the Themes It is apparent that the arrival and introduction of the iPhones into the public for its use and enjoyment caused many changes that greatly affected not only the business venture of Apple Inc. and its stockholders. Also greatly affected were the technological gadgets to be released in the future by Apple Inc. and other Companies out there. A great summation of the statement would be in the terms of iPhone, being so revolutionary, it changed the way the people looked out to the world in the future. Today, cellular phones brought to the people the use of themes, which can greatly affect the cell phone's look, making it more adorable to look at and may be a mirror of the owners perception and artistic tastes. With the unmatched technology put into the iPhone, there is no doubt that its themes would be much fancier than the rest in terms of graphics, colors and even effects. Even greater would be the demand for the themes. And history shows that people do not want to see similarity with other people in terms of clothes and shoes, themes included. Everyone wants and longs to be different, and this longing will greatly affect the number of themes available for the people to download. There are now many Websites that provide these themes for free, while there are also others that give it for a price. Although,

168

there are limited numbers of themes available for the artistic public with iPhones, there is no doubt that further demand and artistry will prevail in the end.

169

171

Changing of iPhone Prices. Meeting the Market Demands Before the iPhone has been made available to the public, there are a lot of speculations on how much it would cost. There are some reports that remained true to their word, forecasting a $500 to $600 price for the iPhone. Some other reports were just mere fabrications of the real deal, and later adored this hot product upon its release. Initially, there are two models available for expecting users to choose from: the 4 GB model and the 8 GB model. These two models have the same features but they obviously differ in phone memory. The price for the 4 GB iPhone is $499 and the 8 GB iPhone can be bought at $599. Though a bit higher than most mobile phone brands, the iPhone still dominated the market as more and more people became curious of the current craze in town. Come to think of it, the $499 and $599 prices for the 4 GB and 8 GB iPhones respectively are just reasonable enough with all its great features and other functionalities. After the iPhone unit sales has reached the 1 million mark, Steve Jobs and company decided to cut a $200 value off the original price of the 8 GB iPhone. Now that owning an iPhone will only cost $399, the iPhone experience has reached across the boundaries of the US. In addition, the 4 GB iPhone model has been sunsetted already, as new models of the iPhone are expected to be released in 2008. Though there may be some who got disappointed of these sudden changes, there are still others who feel lucky to have an iPhone as new and exciting features are set to impress old and new fans alike.
