>, che spesso significa del « mezzo uomo », in modo che non uno sporga un centi­ metro in su, offesa imperdonabile alla mediocrità, che non ammette insidie al suo successo. A questo punto sulla scena di questo nostro secolo che già viaggia per il cielo e si appresta ad « allunare » e a « marziare », non si profila l'uomo « non colto » o di poca cultura, ma l'uomo incolto che, oltre a mancarne, fa sen­ tire gli effetti della sua incultura, cioè la sua rozzezza e il suo « risentimento » verso la cultura. E si tratta di un in­ colto armato della tecnica piu sviluppata, capace di met­ tere in opera per odio la totale distruzione della cultura ; infatti, l'incolto, come il sofista nei confronti della verità, non solo non cerca o ama la cultura, ma la odia. Per con­ seguenza, la civiltà non forma piu l'uomo
