Now we are alone with our thoughts but where are they tomorrow I can continue reading

Larry Eigner was born in the summer of 1927 on Massachusetts Bay between Boston and Gloucester, near Salem, and lives there still. "For Larry Eigner," writes Samuel Charters, "the circumstances of his life have given a form and a shape to his poetry. He is a spastic, and his life has been spent in a glassed-in front porch of a frame house on a side street in a small Massachusetts town. Through the windows—and through the windows of his bedroom—he follows the world of seasons, the sky, and birds, the trees." And Robert Duncan has said of Eigner's poetry, "His eye, searching into the depths of the visual field, his ear, attentive to sounds beyond, command the poem directly . . ." Larry Eigner's first book of poems was published by Robert Creeley's now famous Divers Press in Mallorca in 1953, and ce then Eigner has published over twenty books of verse, st recently Stirring Together or Far Away (1974).
