T H R O U G H O U T all E u r o p e there is s t i r r i n g to-day a great superpersonal Idea, the Idea of the I m p e r i u m of E u r o p e , the permanent and perfect u n i o n of the peoples and nations of Europe. T h i s Idea embodies in itself the entire content of the f u t u r e , f o r u n l e s s t h i s I d e a i s f u l f i l l e d , t h e r e w i l l be n o E u r o p e a n future. Those who regard this Idea, which is expressed at this moment in the L i b e r a t i o n F r o n t , as a danger to them, wish to destroy it at all costs. I t s enemies are, f i r s t , the a n t i - E u r o p e a n forces w i t h o u t t h e W e s t e r n C i v i l i z a t i o n w h o , a t t h i s m o m e n t o f h i s t o r y , d o m i n a t e the entire w o r l d , a n d second, t h e i r s u b s e r v i e n t lackeys w i t h i n the W e s t e r n C i v i l i z a t i o n , the r e a c t i o n a r y p a r t y p o l i t i c i a n s , t o g e t h e r w i t h t h e self-interested forces t h e y represent. B o t h are u n i t e d i n their b l i n d h a t r e d o f this y o u n g a n d v i t a l Idea, w h i c h i s i r r e s i s t i b l y r e l e a s i n g forces w h i c h t h r e a t e n t o e n g u l f those old powers of reaction, f i n a n c e - c a p i t a l i s m , claas-war, a n d Bolshevism. This is addressed to the entire Western C i v i l i z a t i o n : to the colonies p l a n t e d all over the w o r l d , a n d to the h e a r t and soul of the West, the Mother-soil and F a t h e r - C u l t u r e of Europe. It is E u r o p e t h a t is the focus of the h i s t o r i c a l force of the w o r l d . T h e profundity and s t r e n g t h of t h i s soul and body d o m i n a t e even those extra-European forces which have just concluded a temporarily victorious war against Europe, and who are now eng a g i n g i n p r e p a r a t i o n s for w a r a g a i n s t one a n o t h e r , i n w h i c h e a c h hopes t o p u s h its c r u d e a n d f o r m l e s s l u s t f o r n e g a t i v e c o n q u e s t even to the m a s t e r y of the w o r l d . In the plans of their masters of to-day, the t r u e A m e r i c a n people a n d the R u s s i a n people figure only as expendable material. In these two p o p u l a t i o n s , there are wide and deep s t r a t a w h i c h i n w a r d l y b e l o n g t o the W e s t e r n C i v i l i s a t i o n , and who look to the sacred soil of E u r o p e as to their origin, their inspiration and their spiritual home. To these also, this proclamation is addressed. By gigantic war, by terror, and by manifold persecution, the party-politicians and their extra-European masters have s o u g h t a n d seek t o s t i f l e t h i s m i g h t y I d e a . They have sought in vain to deprive it of voice, a n d of a l l means of self-expression, through the written word or the spoken. They themselves thus testify that the L i b e r a t i o n F r o n t is already a power in Europe. A g a i n s t the organic Imperative of t h e F r o n t , they seek to e n l i s t a l l the forces of the past. They create thus a s p i r i t u a l disjunction w h i c h compels a l l m e n to take t h e i r place on the one side or the o t h e r . 3

It has become necessary t h a t those w h o are in the service of this Idea should p r o c l a i m to the W e s t e r n C i v i l i z a t i o n the spiritual foundations and significance of the L i b e r a t i o n F r o n t , a n d o f t h e I m p e r i u m o f E u r o p e for w h i c h t h e F r o n t w i l l clear the w a y , for t h i s F r o n t i s the sole c r e a t i v e force o f o u r times. Therefore the representative adherents of the F r o n t , from all the former nations of Europe, have gathered together in L o n d o n for t h e purpose o f d o c u m e n t i n g t h e i r outlook, t h e i r a i m , a n d t h e i r position in the w o r l d . This Proclamation is published in the original in the G e r m a n , E n g l i s h , Spanish, Italian, F r e n c h and F l e m i s h languages.

I. THE HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE LIBERATION FRONT 1. T H E UNITY OF THE WESTERN CULTURE F r o m the b e g i n n i n g , the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e has been a s p i r i t u a l unit. T h i s b a s i c , u n i v e r s a l l y f o r m a t i v e fact i s i n t h e s h a r p e s t c o n t r a s t to the shallow a n d i g n o r a n t outlook of those who pretend t h a t the u n i t y of the W e s t is a new idea, a t e c h n i c a l t h i n g w h i c h can o n l y be b r o u g h t a b o u t on a l i m i t e d a n d c o n d i t i o n a l basis. F r o m its very birth-cry in the Crusades, the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e h a d one State, w i t h the E m p e r o r at its head, one C h u r c h a n d r e l i g i o n , G o t h i c C h r i s t i a n i t y , w i t h a n a u t h o r i t a r i a n Pope, one race, one n a t i o n , a n d one people, w h i c h felt itself, a n d was recognized by a l l outer forces, to be d i s t i n c t a n d u n i t a r y . There was a u n i v e r s a l style, G o t h i c , w h i c h i n s p i r e d a n d informed a l l art from the crafts to the cathedrals. T h e r e was one ethical code for the C u l t u r e - b e a r i n g s t r a t u m , W e s t e r n c h i v a l r y , founded on a p u r e l y W e s t e r n feeling of h o n o u r . T h e r e was a universal language, L a t i n , and a universal law, R o m a n law. E v e n in the very adoption of older, n o n - W e s t e r n things, the W e s t was u n i t a r y . It made such things into an expression of its proper soul, and it universalized them. M o r e i m p o r t a n t t h a n a n y t h i n g else, t h i s C u l t u r e felt i t s e l f to be a p o w e r - u n i t as a g a i n s t a l l outer forces, whether barbarians l i k e the Slavs, T u r k s and M o n g o l s , or civilised like the M o o r s , Jews, and Saracens. E m b r y o n i c n a t i o n a l differences existed even then within the West, b u t these differences were not felt as contrasts, a n d c o u l d n o t possibly become at t h a t time the focus of a s t r u g g l e for p o w e r . A W e s t e r n k n i g h t was fighting equally for his Fatherland whether in battle against the S l a v or the T u r k on the E a s t e r n M a r c h e s of G e r m a n y , against the M o o r i n S p a i n , I t a l y , o r S i c i l y , o r a g a i n s t the Saracen i n the Levant. T h e outer forces recognized as w e l l this inner u n i t y 4

of the W e s t . To Islam, a l l Westerners whatever were l u m p e d together as F r a n k s , giaours. This higher C u l t u r a l u n i t y embraced w i t h i n its rich possibilities the several N a t i o n - I d e a s w h i c h were to a c t u a l i z e so m u c h of W e s t e r n history, for it is obviously a p a r t of the d i v i n e p l a n that a H i g h C u l t u r e create as phases of its o w n u n f o l d i n g , not only h i g h e r esthetic units, schools of music, p a i n t i n g , and l y r i c , h i g h e r religious a n d philosophical u n i t s , schools of m y s t i c i s m a n d theology, higher bodies of n a t u r e - k n o w l e d g e , schools of technics a n d scientific research, but also h i g h e r power-units w i t h i n itself, E m p e r o r versus papacy, Estates versus E m p e r o r and Pope, F r o n d e versus K i n g , N a t i o n versus N a t i o n . I n G o t h i c times, the intra-Cultural power struggle between E m p e r o r a n d Pope was always strictly subordinated, by the universal conscience, to the o u t e r t e n s i o n w i t h the n o n - m e m b e r o f t h e C u l t u r e , t h e b a r b a r i a n and heathen. The Nations existed then, but not as power-units, n o t a s political o r g a n i s m s . T h e members of the n a t i o n s felt t h e m selves to be different f r o m one a n o t h e r , b u t t h e differences were in no case d e t e r m i n i n g of the whole o r i e n t a t i o n to life. A Slavic, T u r k i s h , o r M o o r i s h a t t a c k o n E u r o p e was m e t b y forces d r a w n from all parts of Europe. The first p o l i t i c a l expression of E u r o p e was in the Crusades, in w h i c h E u r o p e was a power-unit, a c t i n g against the outer world in unitary self-assertion of its now-born soul. Alongside of this form of p o l i t i c s there arose the tension, w h i c h e n d u r e d for three centuries w i t h i n the C u l t u r e , o f the t w i n factions o f E m p e r o r and Pope. A n d then from the middle of the 13th century began the r e v o l t of the g r e a t b a r o n s a n d bishops a g a i n s t the a b s o l u t e power of E m p e r o r and Pope. T h i s was a stop further away from the p r i m e C u l t u r a l u n i t y , b u t i t i n n o w a y affected t h e g r e a t essential idea of unity of the W e s t vis-a-vis any e x t r a - C u l t u r a l force. T h u s , d u r i n g this p e r i o d , the P o p e decreed t h a t the crossbow was a b a r b a r o u s w e a p o n a n d forbade i t s u s e a g a i n s t m e m b e r s of W e s t e r n C h r i s t e n d o m , b u t e x p r e s s l y s a n c t i o n e d its use a g a i n s t barbarians and heathens. T h e i n c r e a s i n g p o l i t i c a l differentiation w i t h i n the C u l t u r e was s i m p l y t h e o r g a n i c process o f f u l f i l l i n g the m a n i f o l d p o s s i b i l i t i e s of the soul of the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e . The entire process was o r g a n i c a l l y necessary, a n d thus d i v i n e l y n e c e s s a r y , for the soul of a H i g h C u l t u r e is a direct e m a n a t i o n of the G o d h e a d . The development continued w i t h the breaking of the religious u n i t y of the West, in Renaissance, Reformation and CounterReformation. These phenomena, religious in o r i g i n , show us the t r u e m e a n i n g of the p o l i t i c a l : whenever any superpersonal movem e n t or i d e a rises to the i n t e n s i t y at w h i c h it i n v o l v e s t h e q u e s t i o n o f life o r d e a t h , i t t h e r e w i t h becomes political, r e g a r d l e s s of its o r i g i n in a non-political sphere. F r o m that moment, the contestants are States, p o l i t i c a l o r g a n i s m s , regardless of h o w t h e y describe themselves, and the way of c o n d u c t i n g the organism is the political w a y : dividing the world into friend and enemy; seeking after power, and not after t r u t h ; p u r s u i n g alliance, w a r , 5

and n e g o t i a t i o n , and not conversion and salvation. This is the lesson of the Reformation-centuries as it h a d been of t h e c e n t u r i e s of the P a p a l - i m p e r i a l conflict. A c c o m p a n y i n g the break-down of religious u n i t y , which transformed itself into a political struggle, was the rise of the dynastic State, a n d the beginning of large-scale i n f r a - C u l t u r a l wars among Western States. A g a i n , the d i s u n i f y i n g process w i t h i n the C u l t u r e w a s limited. T h e i n t r a - E u r o p e a n wars w h i c h took place w e r e c o n d i t i o n e d e n t i r e l y by the g r e a t fact, felt a n d u n d e r s t o o d by a l l , t h a t the E u r o p e a n S t a t e s belonged to the same C u l t u r a l world. T h u s these wars never proceeded to the political a n n i h i l a tion of the opponent. T h e y were prosecuted only to the p o i n t where the l i m i t e d issue w h i c h h a d occasioned the w a r c o u l d become the object of negotiations w h i c h c o u l d satisfy both contestants. T h e h a n d i n g o v e r o f a s t r i p o f t e r r i t o r y , o r the r e c o g n i t i o n of an i n h e r i t a n c e : such were the l i m i t e d issues of these i n t r a C u l t u r a l wars. T h e scale o f those d y n a s t i c wars g r a d u a l l y increased, u n t i l the d y n a s t i c form of politics was itself finished, t o w a r d s the close of the 18th c e n t u r y , w h e n a new f o r m of i n t r a Cultural power-struggle emerged. B u t d u r i n g the centuries of d y n a s t i c politics, w i t h its l i m i t e d wars, and its consequent p r e s e r v a t i o n of C u l t u r a l u n i t y , the other type of politics, w i t h its other form of war, went on between Western political units and outer forces: absolute politics. These wars were u n c o n d i t i o n e d by the fact of m u t u a l membership in a H i g h C u l t u r e , a n d t h e p r e s e n c e o f a c o m m o n code o f h o n o u r , for the b a r b a r i a n a n d the h e a t h e n d i d n o t share the feeling o f Western chivalrous obligations. The H u s s i t e W a r s , 1420-1436, show the n a t u r e of w a r f a r e between a C u l t u r e - p e o p l e a n d a barbarian people. F o r 16 years, the H u s s i t e armies flooded over large areas of G e r m a n y , b u r n i n g , r a v a g i n g , k i l l i n g , a n d destroying. T h i s n i h i l i s t i c S l a v i c o u t b u r s t was t o t a l l y unconnected w i t h any constructive war-aim, and was thus merely an early expression of w h a t is now called B o l s h e v i s m , the spirit of negation and d e s t r u c t i o n , wherever it manifests itself, w h i c h aims at the utter annihilation of everything Western. D u r i n g the centuries o f G o t h i c a n d B a r o q u e , i t was p r i m a r i l y G e r m a n y a n d S p a i n which protected the body of the W e s t , and saved it from the barbarian h o r r o r s w h i c h h a d been i t s fate i f t h e o u t e r forces h a d p r e v a i l e d .

2. THE AGE OF MATERIALISM D u r i n g the centuries of its g r o w t h and unfolding, the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e increased in power and maturity. The i n n e r aspects of life s t e a d i l y receded before t h e e x t e r n a l aspects, u n t i l by the end of t h e X V I I I t h c e n t u r y , the W e s t stood before i t s deepest crisis up to t h a t time. Since the issue was great, fundamental, a n d intense, it i m m e d i a t e l y became a m a t t e r of life a n d death, t h a t is to say, p o l i t i c a l . The g r e a t c r i s i s took p o l i t i c a l shape in the F r e n c h Revolution. A s e v e r , w h e n a n i d e a r i s e s t o political 6

i n t e n s i t y , i t absorbs e v e r y t h i n g else w i t h i n i t , a n d focuses a l l h u m a n a t t e n t i o n a n d effort o n t o t h e p o w e r - s t r u g g l e . The R e v o l u tion, however, was not F r e n c h alone, b u t E u r o p e a n . T h i s total revolution m a r k e d the victory of democracy over aristocracy, p a r l i a m e n t a r i s m over the State, mass over q u a l i t y , Reason over F a i t h , equality-ideals over o r g a n i c h i e r a r c h y , of M o n e y over B l o o d , o f L i b e r a l i s m , p l u r a l i s m , free c a p i t a l i s m , a n d c r i t i c i s m over the o r g a n i c forces o f T r a d i t i o n , S t a t e a n d A u t h o r i t y , i n one w o r d , o f C i v i l i s a t i o n o v e r C u l t u r e . Rationalism and m a t e r i a l i s m were the c o m m o n d e n o m i n a t o r s o f a l l the new ideas w h i c h rose i n r e v o l t a g a i n s t t h e o l d o r d e r o f t h o u g h t , S t a t e , economy, society, war, and politics. Metaphysics was to be a m a t t e r of w e i g h i n g and m e a s u r i n g ; g o v e r n m e n t was to be a m a t t e r of c o u n t i n g n o s e s ; e c o n o m y was to be e n t i r e l y reduced to m o n e y - t r a d i n g ; the s t r u c t u r e of society was to be a reflex of m o n e y ; international relations of w a r a n d p o l i t i c s were to be the apotheosis of national egoism, w i t h utter d i s r e g a r d of the great, inclusive, C u l t u r a l unity, of which the nations are mere separate manifestations. Even to-day, after m o r e t h a n a c e n t u r y of u n d e r m i n i n g , the t r a d i t i o n a l connections of the C u l t u r e - b e a r i n g s t r a t u m of E u r o p e a r e u n i m p a i r e d , a n d r e a c h s t r a i g h t b a c k t o the selfe v i d e n t pride and mastery of our Gothic youth. A n d this connection is not weaker, but stronger w i t h time, for the d i r e c t i o n of our s p i r i t u a l d e v e l o p m e n t has changed, and a second great world-transformation has occurred in the life the W e s t . We are now in t h e m i d s t of the second g r e a t t u r n i n g - p o i n t of the maturity of C u l t u r e . The noise and s h o u t i n g of democracy a n d m a t e r i a l i s m h a v e d i e d a w a y ; l i b e r a l i s m h a s become a f o u l t y r a n n y m a s k i n g an e v i l and a n o n y m o u s d i c t a t u r e of m o n e y ; the p a r l i a m e n t s talk now only to themselves, a n d it no l o n g e r m a t t e r s w h a t they s a y ; the c r i t i c s h a v e d i s s o l v e d t h e m s e l v e s i n their o w n acid, a n d c a n n o t believe now in either t h e i r methods or t h e i r r e s u l t s ; rapacious c a p i t a l i s m has eaten u p i t s o w n f o u n d a t i o n s ; finance has c o n v e r t e d the n a t i o n s i n t o h u g e s p i d e r - w e b s o f d e b t in which all Western m a n k i n d is trapped; above all, fanatical c h a u v i n i s m has d e s t r o y e d a l l the f o r m e r F a t h e r l a n d s a n d delivered them to the occupation of e x t r a - E u r o p e a n forces of barbarism and Culture-distortion. A l l o f t h i s i s t h e legacy o f the A g e o f M a t e r i a l i s m . The servants of that Age continue to apply its outmoded and sterile methods to the l i v i n g tasks of the present. B u t even as t h e i r dead a n d r i g i d hands g r i p the reins of power, the revolt continues. They cannot build a wall against D e s t i n y ; they cannot order H i s t o r y and T i m e to stop in their tracks. The assertion of liberalc a p i t a l i s t i c - d e m o c r a t i c - p a r l i a m e n t a r i a s m that it has a timeless a n d eternal right to rule is an organic lie. The methods of the materialistic Age, its antiquated ideologies and cadaverous s t e r i l i t y , cannot even s u r v i v e except as an i n s t r u m e n t of e x t r a E u r o p e a n forces, u n f e e l i n g t o the i n n e r force o f E u r o p e a n d e s t i n y . E v e n as the cadaver of M a t e r i a l i s m tries to d i v e r t the life7

blood of the new a n d v i t a l forces i n t o its h a r d e n e d arteries, it sinks deeper into the c l a m m y r i g i d i t y of D e a t h . A g a i n s t this corpse rises now the u p t h r u s t of the R e s u r g e n c e of A u t h o r i t y , the highest embodiment of the old, eternally y o u n g and manly virtues of Discipline, Responsibility, D u t y , L o y a l t y , and F a i t h . In the face of the chaos of i n d i v i d u a l i s t i c - l i b e r a l - c a p i t a l i s m , it flings its d e m a n d for a s u p e r p e r s o n a l e t h i c a l - s o c i a l i s t O r d e r . Over the equality-ideals of democracy and the chaos of n a t i o n a l and i n t e r n a t i o n a l p l u r a l i s m rises n o w the i m p e r a t i v e of H i e r a r c h y arid I m p e r i u m . D i s p l a c i n g suicidal petty-stateism is the Idea of the monolithic C u l t u r e - S t a t e - N a t i o n - R a c e - P e o p l e of E u r o p e as the p r e l u d e to the greatest t a s k of a l l : the expression of the absolute western will to unlimited political Imperialism. The u l t i m a t e outcome of this gigantic struggle is k n o w n to us, for we h a v e seen before t h i s s t r u g g l e of t h e P a s t to r e t a r d the F u t u r e . F r o m 1800 to 1850, the r e a c t i o n a r y a d h e r e n t s of t h e negative alliance a g a i n s t democracy allied themselves w i t h the ideas a n d methods of the P a s t in order to prevent the F u t u r e . B u t it was the democrats of that t i m e who represented the true i d e a of the times, a n d history does not go b a c k w a r d . The H o l y A l l i a n c e had to f a i l , regardless of the m a t e r i a l power at its disp o s a l , for a r m i e s a n d c a n n o n c a n n o t fight a g a i n s t a n Idea. W i t h i n a mere c e n t u r y , the democrats, e q u a l i t a r i a n s , liberals, c r i t i c s , ideologues a n d p a r l i a m e n t a r i a n s h a v e become the most r a d i c a l o p p o n e n t of the S p i r i t of the A g e , far this A g e is no longer t h a t of M o n e y , D e m o c r a c y , a n d E q u a l i t y , but that of A u t h o r i t y , Discipline, and F a i t h . No more than the Liberal-democrats could be permanently s u p p r e s s e d i n 1850 c a n t h e y s u p p r e s s u s i n 1 9 5 0 . E v e n as the liberal-democratic tyrants b r i n g their economic pressure, they have a bad conscience. T h e y show it further in their vacillation between senseless c r u e l t y a n d c l u m s y b r i b e r y , i n t h e i r c h i l d i s h propaganda and their v a i n cajolery. B u t to the bearers of a super-personal mission, no y i e l d i n g is possible, cither to terror o r t o c o m p r o m i s e , for t h i s m i s s i o n e m a n a t e s d i r e c t l y f r o m t h e ultimate reality of G o d . T o the m a t e r i a l i s t i c - l i b e r a l - C o m m u n i s t d e m o c r a t s , the i n n e r e n e m y of E u r o p e , we present only one, u n a l t e r a b l e d e m a n d : t h e y m u s t v a n i s h f r o m t h e face o f H i s t o r y . A g a i n s t this inner enemy a n d the s p i r i t he embodies, we n o w d o c u m e n t our charges before a l l E u r o p e . In three realms, materialistic-communistic-liberal-democracy has injured the body a n d t h w a r t e d the D e s t i n y of E u r o p e : (1) w i t h i n the E u r o p e a n nations, (2) in the relations among the nations of E u r o p e , a n d (3) in the relations of E u r o p e to the rest of the w o r l d .

II. THE CHAOS OF THE PRESENT A. THE UNDERMINING OF THE NATIONS 1. CLASS-WAR In its first phase, the g r e a t revolution of n a t i o n a l i s m a n d M a t e r i a l i s m t u r n e d itself a g a i n s t the two poles of the C u l t u r a l life, t h e forces o f A u t h o r i t y i n t h e s p i r i t u a l l i f e a n d t h e p o l i t i c a l social life. E n c y c l o p e d i s m , J a c o b i n i s m , F r e e m a s o n r y , a n d R e p u b l i c a n i s m are some of its early forms. T h e y fought all signs of rank, and against a n y t h i n g which had grown organically through the centuries. The spirit of this revolt permeated the r u l i n g s t r a t a i n some c o u n t r i e s , p a r t i c u l a r l y i n F r a n c e , a n d i t was this weakness above t h a t made t h e R e v o l u t i o n a n d the T e r r o r o f 1793 p o s s i b l e . T h e c a n a i l l e never breaks loose u n t i l the r u l i n g e l e m e n t s p e r m i t i t ; t h i s w a s e q u a l l y t r u e i n 1 7 8 9 a s i n 1944, w i t h the A m e r i c a n conquest of E u r o p e . The worship of Reason applied to State and Society developed the test of q u a n t i t y as the sole measure of l e g i t i m a c y . N o t rank, talent, genius, or a b i l i t y , but n u m b e r alone mattered to the materialists. The source of power, according to the doctrinaire democrats was in the broadest, most undifferentiated mass of the population, and not in the s p i r i t u a l l y differentiated s t r a t a born w i t h the mission of accomplishing the life-task of the N a t i o n , and actualizing the national Idea. B l i n d l y , the democratic ideologues continued w i t h their w o r k of levelling and destroying. In the century 1850-1950 they a c t u a l l y succeeded i n u n d e r m i n i n g t h e State a n d society. What succeeded the old o r d e r ? N o t h i n g t h a t the democrats of the early period had sought. The new centre of g r a v i t y of L i f e was in economics, a n d the d o m i n a t i n g economic r i v a l r y was between the industrial-capitalist and the financier. A l l the idealism a n d a l l the sacrifice of the e q u a l i t a r i a n s h a d only succeeded in w i p i n g out an organic aristocracy a n d s u b s t i t u t i n g for it a sordid a n d vulgar plutocracy. W i t h i n all countries, there now began the next form of class-war, the war between economic groups instead of between social groups. T h e differences e n g e n d e r e d by q u a l i t y a n d t r a d i t i o n h a d been u n d e r m i n e d , a n d the e c o n o m i c m a t e r i a l i s m now supplied the cadre of forms of the struggle. 9

By speculation and manipulations on the exchange, the finance-capitalist attacked the productive forms of property so t h a t they m i g h t a l l h e w o r k i n g for h i m , t h e unseen a n d u n k n o w n master, c o n t r o l l i n g the economic life of continents through his universal network of debts and interest. T h e e x i g e n c i e s o f the s t r u g g l e forced the i n d u s t r i a l i s t s to squeeze every possible source o f p r o f i t t i g h t e r , a n d t h u s t o i n c r e a s e the a l r e a d y c r u e l o p p r e s s i o n of the labourers and their families. The r u l i n g code of h o n o u r w a s n o w t h a t of the c u t - t h r o a t , a n d t h e e c o n o m i c l i f e o f t h e n a t i o n s w a s a v i l e s c r a m b l e for profit. Into this scramble there now entered new contestants. F i r s t w a s t h e p r o l e t a r i a t , w h i c h n o w a l l i e d i t s e l f w i t h t h e financec a p i t a l i s t in the a t t a c k on the i n d u s t r i a l i s t f r o m above and below. T h e p r o l e t a r i a n c o n s c r i p t was fitted o u t by his self-chosen nonproletarian loaders w i t h a doctrine, o r g a n i z a t i o n , and tactics. T h e d o c t r i n e w a s t h a t the e n t i r e h i s t o r y o f the w o r l d was n o t h i n g b u t a c o n t i n u a l c l a s s s t r u g g l e , w i t h m o n e y as its sole end and aim. T h e fact that t h i s repulsive and grotesque outlook could e v e n be f o r m u l a t e d is i t s e l f the o n l y c o m m e n t a r y n e c e s s a r y on the k i n d of world L i b e r a l i s m creates. T h e o r g a n i z a t i o n - f o r m w a s the trade-union, and the tactic was the s t r i k e . All three, the d o c t r i n e , t h e o r g a n i s a t i o n , a n d the t a c t i c , are p u r e l y economic, purely materialistic and capitalistic. A l t h o u g h they proclaimed t h e m s e l v e s a g a i n s t c a p i t a l i s m , they t h o u g h t in its cadre, shared its a i m , a n d fought w i t h its weapons. Instead o f m a n i p u l a t i n g t h e s u p p l y o f g o o d s , l i k e the i n d u s t r i a l i s t , o r the s u p p l y o f m o n e y , l i k e the f i n a n c e - c a p i t a l i s t , t h e y m a n i p u l a t e d the s u p p l y o f l a b o u r . T h e l a b o u r - l e a d e r now became the t h i r d member of the s n a r l i n g c a p i t a l i s t t r i n i t y .

2. THE EMERGENCE OF THE JEW M o r e i m p o r t a n t t h a n t h e s e d o m e s t i c c o n t e s t a n t s was a new element, the C u l t u r e - a l i e n . H i s e n t r a n c e into W e s t e r n affairs was a d i r e c t result of the v i c t o r y of R a t i o n a l i s m a n d M a t e r i a l i s m . S i n c e o n l y q u a n t i t y m a t t e r e d , t h e n o b v i o u s l y the q u a l i t y of a man was indifferent. The fact t h a t he came f r o m a different C u l t u r e , t h a t t h e r e f o r e he felt h i m s e l f to be a m e m b e r of a different race, people, n a t i o n , S t a t e , r e l i g i o n , society—these meant n o t h i n g to the doctrinaire liberals. They spoke fervently of " h u m a n i t y " a n d wished t o embrace it, little t h i n k i n g that outside of the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e there was no r e c i p r o c a l feeling, but only sullen envy, indifference, or resentment. The liberal ideology prevailed, and from that moment the Rothschilds, Ricardos, Marxs, Lasalles, Bebels, Dreyfuses, Guggenheims, Loebs, Trotskys, Staviskys, K r u e g e r s , Baruchs, Frankfurters, and Blums entered i n t o the public life of the W e s t . 10

The Culture-State-Nation-Religion-Race-People of the J e w is a product of a C u l t u r e w h i c h was already completed and r i g i d fied by the t i m e of our G o t h i c period. At the time when we were j u s t e m e r g i n g f r o m the p r i m i t i v e , these C u l t u r e - a l i e n s d i s p e r s e d themselves t h r o u g h o u t E u r o p e . M o n e y - t h i n k i n g , regarded as evil by t h e W e s t , was the forte of the J e w . Interest-taking was forbidden to Westerners by t h e i r religion, and the J e w was not slow t o seize t h e u s u r y - m o n o p o l y t h a t this c o n f e r r e d o n h i m . There was no place in the Western world of Gothic Christianity, chivalry, piety, and simple a g r i c u l t u r a l e c o n o m y for t h i s l a n d l e s s a n d u p r o o t e d s t r a n g e r w i t h h i s T o r a h a n d T a l m u d , h i s m o n e y a n d his c y n i c i s m , h i s d u a l i s t i c ethics, o n e for his o w n k i n d , a n d a n o t h e r for t h e g o y i m . The J e w created his o w n g h e t t o as a s y m b o l of his c o m p l e t e i n n e r isolation from his e n v i r o n m e n t . The general feeling of the religious G o t h i c A g e was t h a t the J e w was the creation of the D e v i l , who a p p o i n t e d h i m t o d r i v e his trade o f u s u r y . Between the m e m b e r s o f the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e a n d t h i s element w h i c h l i v e d in a n d on the body of the W e s t , b u t in no way shared in or c o n t r i b u t e d to its d e v e l o p m e n t , there arose mutual hatred and oppression. Crusaders massacred entire J e w i s h communities on their way to the L e v a n t , a n d r e t u r n i n g Protests a g a i n s t u s u r y p r o d u c e d p l u n d e r a n d b u r n i n g of the J e w s . Popes and Scholastic philosophers denounced the J e w . All W e s t e r n k i n g s , at one time or another, drove o u t the entire Jewish population of their kingdoms. J e w s were h a n g e d en masse a s r e p r i s a l for t h e i r u s u r y and c o u n t e r f e i t i n g . A n y possibility of a s s i m i l a t i o n of the p a r a s i t e by t h e h o s t t h a t m a y have been present w a s forever rendered i m p o s s i b l e by the i n f i n i t e l y deep resentment and revenge-imperative that developed in the C u l t u r e S t a t e - N a t i o n - R a c e - P e o p l e o f the J e w . B e t w e e n h i m a n d his W e s t e r n h o s t - s u r r o u n d i n g s there was no inner connection. He looked upon all Western developments with an even eye, the eye of the c a l c u l a t i n g s p e c t a t o r who seeks solely his own advantage. S h y l o c k is the s y m b o l of t h e J e w in the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e , the usurer c o u n t i n g his coins and a c c u m u l a t i n g his resentment. F o r a l m o s t a thousand years the J e w d r a n k his gall and bided his time, and then at last his opportunity emerged. W i t h the c o m i n g o f m a t e r i a l i s m , c a p i t a l i s m , d e m o c r a c y , a n d liberalism, a great wave of excitement went t h r o u g h the J e w i s h w o r l d . The J e w h a d seen the p o t e n t i a l i t i e s of these t h i n g s a n d had fostered t h e i r g r o w t h i n every w a y . The Illuminati and all of its F r e e m a s o n i c offspring were infiltrated by the J e w and m a d e into instruments of his revenge-politics. To the J e w the great attraction of all of these W e s t e r n m o v e m e n t s was t h a t they were quantitative, and thus all tended to break down the exclusiveness of the West, which had kept h i m out of its power-struggles and confined in his ghetto, d r e a m i n g of his revenge for centuries of 11

H e n c e f o r t h , he was generously accorded the same s p i r i t u a l status as W e s t e r n e r s in their own C u l t u r e , and the same civic status as Westerners in their own Nation-States. He kept h i s o w n e x c l u s i v e n e s s of course, a n d h i s o w n p u b l i c life, for the New Year's Resolutions of Liberalism—humanitarianism, B r o t h e r l y love, " t o l e r a n c e " and the l i k e — w e r e one-sided. They were a phase of o u r d e v e l o p m e n t a n d c o u l d not be echoed in the J e w i s h o r g a n i s m , w h i c h had l o n g since passed beyond all development, like the Chinese, H i n d u s , a n d M o s l e m s . In finance, in trade, in society, in education, in letters, in d i p l o m a c y , the J e w now forged steadily ahead, a closed organism i n s i d e an open one. I n E u r o p e , i t h a s b e e n i m p o s s i b l e f o r the J e w to annihilate T r a d i t i o n , which constantly opposed its silent and s t r o n g barrier, but in A m e r i c a , because of its colonial origins, there h a d never been c r e a t i v e n e s s a n d e x c l u s i v e n e s s , a n d there were no barriers to the Jew. A m e r i c a was more thoroughly disintegrated by rationalism, materialism, liberalism and d e m o c r a c y t h a n a n y E u r o p e a n l a n d , because a colony has not, and cannot have, the s p i r i t u a l p r o f u n d i t y and c o n t i n u i t y of the M o t h e r - s o i l of the C u l t u r e . As a r e s u l t , the success of the J e w h a s been g r e a t e s t i n A m e r i c a , a n d i n t h e y e a r 1933, the e n t i r e continent of A m e r i c a passed into the control of the Jewish Culture-State-Nation-Race-People. parasitism. The disease-condition displaces Culture-members and has a s l o w l y s t e r i l i z i n g effect on the C u l t u r e - b o d y . M o r e aggravated is the condition when the Culture-alien i n t e r v e n e s i n t h e p u b l i c a n d s p i r i t u a l affairs o f t h e h o s t , for t h e n he m u s t of his o w n i n n e r necessity d i s t o r t t h e life of the host, w a r p i n g and frustrating its proper tendencies to make t h e m serviceable to his alien needs. The Jew is the only Culture-alien w h o a t p r e s e n t exercises t h i s Culture-distortion o n t h e l i f e o f the W e s t e r n C i v i l i s a t i o n . The domestic disease-elements w i t h i n the C u l t u r e w h i c h w i s h to retain the outmoded ideas and methods of the P a s t a n d to fight a g a i n s t the creative s p i r i t which is a c t u a l i z i n g a C u l t u r a l m i s s i o n a r e t h e forces o f Culture-retardation. These have been brought i n t o the service of the Culture-distorter. A c t u a l l y these elements s i m p l y desire to load, but are themselves incapable of leadership, and therefore devote their lives to opposition, to great formative Ideas, creative s p i r i t u a l c u r r e n t s , and leaders of vision and genius. T h e y are the c h u r c h i l l s , the spaaks, t h e g a u l l e s , t h e rejects o f h i g h e r h i s t o r y w h o offer t h e m s e l v e s t o t h e forces o f n e g a t i o n a n d d e s t r u c t i o n . The most critical form of the disease of C u l t u r e - r e t a r d a t i o n is the c o n d i t i o n in w h i c h it seeks t o p r e v e n t the r e a l i z a t i o n o f the I d e a o f t h e F u t u r e e v e n at the shame of a l l y i n g w i t h outer forces, the d e g r a d a t i o n of becoming their vassal, and the risk of d e s t r o y i n g the e n t i r e Culture. B e f o r e s h o w i n g t h e effect o f t h e d i s e a s e - e l e m e n t s o n t h e e x t e r n a l r e l a t i o n s o f t h e C u l t u r e , t h e i r i n t e r n a l effects m u s t be summarized.

3. SOCIAL DEGENERATION T h e forces o f r a t i o n a l i s m , m a t e r i a l i s m , a t h e i s m , J a c o b i n i s m , democracy, and liberalism became ever more radical in their demands d u r i n g their century. Their most i n t r a n s i g e n t product was c o m m u n i s m . The l e a d i n g values of c o m m u n i s m are i d e n t i c a l w i t h those o f l i b e r a l d e m o c r a c y : c o m m u n i s m a l s o preaches the economic meaning of life, the supremacy of the i n d i v i d u a l , the sublimity of " h a p p i n e s s " , the doctrine of heaven-on-earth, the s u p e r i o r i t y o f the l o w e s t t y p e o f m a n , m a t e r i a l i s m , c r i t i c i s m , atheism, intellectualism, hatred of authority, race suicide, feminism, and pacifism. T h e sole difference between l i b e r a l democracy and c o m m u n i s m in practice was t h a t c o m m u n i s m was an i n t e n s i f i c a t i o n of t h o s e beliefs to the p o i n t w h e r e t h e y became political. L i b e r a l i s m was anti-political, and hope to conquer w i t h drooling sentiments, but c o m m u n i s m was filled w i t h an intense hatred which demanded expression in class-war. A l l aspects of social decay were permeated by the C u l t u r e distorter, who well realized their value in his programme for ascendancy. At the same time that he spread and advocated 13

a l l of these f o r m s of s o c i a l d e c a y for the w h i t e n a t i o n s , he carefully strove to keep his own C u l t u r e - S t a t e - N a t i o n - R a c e - P e o p l e free f r o m t h e m . It was an i n v a r i a b l e c h a r a c t e r i s t i c of the tactics o f the J e w t h a t he, h i m s e l f t h e bearer o f C u l t u r e - d i s e a s e , i n s t i n c t i v e l y allied himself w i t h all forms, theories, doctrines and practices of decadence in every sphere of life. T h e d e g r a d a t i o n of the social life d i d not merely happen, it was planned, deliberately fostered and spread, and the systematic u n d e r m i n i n g of the entire life of the W e s t continues to-day. T h e i n s t r u m e n t s of this assault are the weapons of propag a n d a : press, radio, c i n e m a , stage, education. These weapons a r e c o n t r o l l e d a t t h i s m o m e n t i n E u r o p e , a l m o s t e n t i r e l y b y the forces of C u l t u r e - d i s e a s e a n d s o c i a l d e g e n e r a t i o n . The chief fount o f the p r o p a g a n d a i s the c i n e m a , a n d f r o m his c a p i t a l o f H o l l y wood, the J e w spews o u t an endless series of perverted films to debase a n d degenerate the y o u t h of E u r o p e , as he has so largely succeeded in doing w i t h the youth of A m e r i c a . Concomitantly he inspires a vicious literature of j o u r n a l i s m , novels, and dramas which preach the same message of destruction of healthy i n d i v i d u a l instincts, of n o r m a l f a m i l i a l a n d sexual life, of disint e g r a t i o n of the social o r g a n i s m into a heap of wandering, colliding, grains of h u m a n sand. T h e m e s s a g e o f H o l l y w o o d i s t h e t o t a l s i g n i f i c a n c e o f the isolated i n d i v i d u a l , stateless a n d rootless, outside of society and f a m i l y , whose life is s i m p l y the p u r s u i t of money a n d erotic pleasure. I t i s n o t the n o r m a l a n d h e a l t h y love o f m a n a n d wife b o u n d together by m a n y c h i l d r e n t h a t H o l l y w o o d preaches, but a diseased e r o t i c - f o r - i t s - o w n - s a k e , the s e x u a l love of two g r a i n s of h u m a n sand, superficial and impermanent. Before this highest o f a l l H o l l y w o o d ' s v a l u e s , e v e r y t h i n g else m u s t s t a n d a s i d e : m a r r i a g e , h o n o u r , d u t y , p a t r i o t i s m , s t e r n n e s s , d e d i c a t i o n o f self to a higher a i m . T h i s g h a s t l y d i s t o r t i o n o f t h e s e x u a l life has c r e a t e d t h e e r o t o m a n i a w h i c h obsesses its m i l l i o n s o f v i c t i m s i n A m e r i c a , a n d w h i c h h a s n o w been b r o u g h t t o t h e M o t h e r - s o i l o f E u r o p e b y the A m e r i c a n i n v a s i o n . N o t only the i n d i v i d u a l s are the v i c t i m s of this technic of d e g e n e r a t i o n , b u t the f a m i l y a n d the race are dissolved wherever it touches. D i v o r c e replaces marriage, abortion replaces birth, the home acquires a purely c o m m e r c i a l raison d'être, the family b e c o m e s t h e b a t t l e g r o u n d o f i n d i v i d u a l s t r i f e for p e r s o n a l a d v a n t age. The e r o t i c - a s - i t s - o w n - e n d d e l i b e r a t e l y r e d u c e s the n u m b e r s of the race, even as it also d i s i n t e g r a t e s the h i g h e r o r g a n i s m into sand. As a p a r t of the technic, woman is made into a feminist, a n u n h a p p y derailed c r e a t u r e who w o u l d contest w i t h m a n i n his o w n d o m a i n a n d seeks t o lose a l l the a t t r i b u t e s o f her p o l a r i t y w h i c h a s s u r e h e r d e s t i n y o f i t s u n f o l d i n g , a n d g u a r a n t e e her the n a t u r a l d i g n i t y w h i c h is hers. T h e e n d o f t h e p r o c e s s i s seen i n those w i d e s t r a t a i n A m e r i c a w h i c h h a v e been c o m p l e t e l y H o l l y woodized. H o l l y w o o d - f e m i n i s m has created a w o m a n who is no longer a w o m a n b u t c a n n o t be a m a n , a n d a m a n w h o is devirilized into an indeterminate thing. process is the " s e t t i n g f r e e " of w o m a n , a n d it is done in the name of " h a p p i n e s s " , the m a g i c w o r d of the l i b e r a l - c o m m u n i s t democratic doctrine. It accompanies the s p r e a d i n g of inverted P u r i t a n i s m , w h i c h seeks to spread e r o t o m a n i a by s u r r o u n d i n g the sexual life w i t h an a u r a of attractive evil. F r o m the s t a n d p o i n t of the race, the result of t h i s t e c h n i c of degeneration is the a t t e n u a t i n g , and finally the d y i n g out, of racial instincts. The disintegrated victims, shorn of their organic connections w i t h the great superpersonal content of L i f e , become u n f r u i t f u l , lose t h e i r w i l l - t o - p o w e r , a n d soon l a c k t h e a b i l i t y t o believe i n o r t o f o l l o w a n y t h i n g o n w a r d a n d u p w a r d . T h e y become c y n i c a l , g i v e u p a l l i n n e r d i s c i p l i n e , s e e k a l i f e o f ease a n d pleasure, and sneer at all seriousness and honour. A l l intense feelings d e p a r t , for they m i g h t i n v o l v e r i s k a n d sacrifice. Love of F a t h e r l a n d gives way to money-madness and erotomania. T h e complete m e d i o c r i t y t h a t results is s h o w n by the disintegrated a n d unhappy A m e r i c a n s w h o were c o n s c r i p t e d a n d thrown onto E u r o p e i n the Second W o r l d W a r . Utterly lacking as they were in any desire to fight or to accomplish even t h e destruction which was expected of them, nevertheless they allowed themselves to be sent abroad and k i l l e d rather than defend themselves a n d t h e i r F a t h e r l a n d a g a i n s t t h e p l a n s o f the a l i e n r e g i m e in Washington. This condition of degeneration, so widespread in America, w i t h its colonial lack of resistance to Culture-disease, and so threatening to Europe under the present A m e r i c a n domination, has not arisen by accident. A c e n t u r y ago, the l i b e r a l - c o m m u n i s t democrat K a r l M a r x and his c o t e r i e f o r m u l a t e d a s t h e i r p r o g r a m m e the destruction of the family, of marriage, and of the Fatherland. T h e y declared a h o r i z o n t a l war against the W e s t e r n civilization, affirming their aim of disintegrating all social, c u l t u r a l , a n d political forms. A m e r i c a is their programme in process of a c t u a l i z a t i o n , a n d its e x a m p l e shows E u r o p e w h a t the liberal-communist-democratic regime of C u l t u r e - d i s t o r t i o n is prep a r i n g for i t d u r i n g the c o m i n g generations. B u t let there be no m i s t a k e : there is n o t h i n g inevitable about this Culture-disease. A s l o n g a s the C u l t u r e - o r g a n i s m retains its traditions, its racial instincts, its will-to-power, a n d its natural exclusiveness and resistance to everything culturally alien, this result cannot be. T h e example of Quebec is proof. There, healthy i n s t i n c t s of resistance to C u l t u r e - d i s e a s e made it i m p o s s i b l e for the W a s h i n g t o n regime to conscript the population of an entire t h i r d of C a n a d a in its war of revenge, hatred, and destruction against the F a t h e r - C u l t u r e and Mother-soil of E u r o p e . The massheroism of the entire Quebec regiment w h i c h l a i d d o w n its a r m s and refused as a u n i t when ordered to p a r t i c i p a t e in the hostile invasion of the sacred soil of E u r o p e is an inspiring proof of the prevalence a n d h i g h p o t e n t i a l , even in the colonies, of the i n vincible Western tradition of cultural purity and exclusiveness. E v e n i n A m e r i c a itself, the m a i n focus o f the efforts of t h e C u l t u r e - d i s t o r t e r , a n d the base of his greatest power, the m a i n body of the people held aloof from the W a r , in the attitude castigated by the alien regime as " i s o l a t i o n i s t " . Far f r o m b e i n g i s o l a t e d , the i n n e r soul of the true A m e r i c a n people is c o n n e c t e d i n d i v i s i b l y by the s t r o n g e s t possible tie, the m y s t i c a l c o r d b i n d i n g t h e M o t h e r - O r g a n i s m to its c o l o n y , and it was precisely because of this c o n n e c t i n g bond that the true A m e r i c a n instinct shrank from the hateful war against Europe. It sought i s o l a t i o n o n l y from the foul treason a g a i n s t E u r o p e which was hatched and directed in Washington. T h i s great fact demonstrates to E u r o p e and to H i s t o r y that A m e r i c a is not lost, and from this moment the L i b e r a t i o n Front exists also in A m e r i c a . T h e w a r for the L i b e r a t i o n of the Western C i v i l i z a t i o n embraces the colonies as w e l l , since it is a h o r i z o n t a l war, like the Culture-diseases against w h i c h it is fighting. A t t e m p t s to split the W e s t into separate units, economic, politic a l , m i l i t a r y , r a c i a l , are p u r e l y a r t i f i c i a l i n this age. T h e v e r t i c a l battle of a l l against all belongs to the dead capitalist-nationalistic p a s t , a n d its r e s u r r e c t i o n now is s i m p l y a technic of the i n n e r enemy, an a t t e m p t to strangle the future w i t h the dead clutch of the past. In a century-long battle t h e forces of disease a l m o s t c o m p l e t e l y succeeded in d e s t r o y i n g a n y propertied groups w i t h W e s t e r n t r a d i t i o n s whose ascendancy itself represented a barrier to degeneration a n d conquest by Culture-distortion. T h e y b r o u g h t in the device of huge anonymous financial structures, called h o l d i n g companies, they made the c u r r e n c y of n a t i o n s a f u n c t i o n of t h e i r b a n k s , and on forced the p r i n c i p l e of constant flux on the n a t i o n a l economy, in order to create the possibility of financial coups. The corrosion of Culture-disease of society and economy, b u t those of once the State had stood, speaking focus of respect a n d the source of chaos of ideologies, each c l a i m i n g to n i u m , t h e secret o f b u i l d i n g the o l d 16

The W o r l d - M i s s i o n of the W e s t they understood as the s e c u r i n g of markets and raw materials overseas. W h e r e A u t h o r i t y had stood, clothed w i t h dignity, they now brought in gabbling parliaments, wherein the gabble became ever more meaningless, and the shame ever more patent. F o r these deputies are mere things, replaceable units describable only mathematically, in aggregates. A m o n g them there is not, a n d c a n n o t be, a s t r o n g i n d i v i d u a l i t y , f o r a m a n , a w h o l e a n d e n t i r e m a n , does n o t s e l l h i m s e l f l i k e these p a r l i a m e n t a r y w h o r e s . To replace the a u t h o r i t a t i v e principle of p u b l i c responsibility Culture-disease has b r o u g h t in the a n o n y m o u s i r r e s p o n s i b i l i t y of the decision of the amorphous majority, w h i c h can never again be f o u n d after i t has c o m m i t t e d i t s t r e a s o n t o E u r o p e . E v e n in E n g l a n d , the birthplace of the p a r l i a m e n t a r y idea, and the only place where it ever h a d d i g n i t y a n d value, the idea is completely dead. With a sound instinct, the population dubs the local parliament the "gas-house". E v e r y w h e r e in E u r o p e , the populations show what they think of this putrescent fraud by insulating themselves from i t : they close their ears against the p r o g r a m m e s a n d the lies, they hate the ideologies, they boycott the elections, t h e y despise from t h e i r souls the entire old-Testament T o w e r of B a b e l w h i c h to-day has the temerity to c a l l itself g o v e r n m e n t , a n d to a s k for t h e confidence of t h e p e o p l e s . They have sought to rot Europe, to a t t e n u a t e i t s racial instincts, to de-virilize it, to deprive it of honour, heroism and manliness, of the sense of its W o r l d - M i s s i o n , of its sense of C u l t u r a l u n i t y , oven of its chivalrous m i l i t a r y code. They have sought to paralyze the w i l l of E u r o p e a n d destroy its will-to-power by b r i n g i n g in the ethical syphilis of H o l l y w o o d to poison the sacred soil of Europe. T h i s we lay to their charge. These t h i n g s are facts, and n o t h i n g in the future can ever eradicate the knowledge that they h a v e been done a n d a t t e m p t e d by the i n n e r enemy. N o r is this the full extent of the destruction wrought by the hatred, negation, and revenge of the enemies of E u r o p e . This is the d e v a s t a t i o n within t h e peoples, o f E u r o p e . It remains to document their effects i n t h e s p h e r e o f t h e m u t u a l r e l a t i o n s o f the n a t i o n s o f Europe, and, lastly, in the sphere of the relations of Europe to the outer world.

B. THE DESTRUCTION OF THE POLITICAL UNITY OF EUROPE D u r i n g the dynastic period of Western history, although i n t r a - E u r o p e a n w a r s were o f large-scale a n d l o n g d u r a t i o n , t h e y were l i m i t e d into their a i m , a n d the e x p l o i t a t i o n of victory was strictly conditioned. T h e y were not n a t i o n a l wars, but dynastic wars. P o w e r was the s t a k e , b u t only power w i t h i n the p r e v a i l i n g forms of chivalrous ethics, comity, and C u l t u r a l unity. This u n i t y was k n o w n as the C o n c e r t of E u r o p e , a n d the very name i t s e l f reflects t h e deep sense o f u n i t y t h r o u g h o u t the E u r o p e a n family. W i t h the c o m i n g of the A g e of M a t e r i a l i s m , and the assault on a l l the t r a d i t i o n s of the W e s t by the forces of l i b e r a l i s m , Jacobinism, democracy, money, and rationalism the dynastic concept of the N a t i o n - i d e a s l o w l y b r o k e d o w n a n d w a s r e p l a c e d by the linguistic concept of the nation. The mystical-authoritative s y m b o l o f t h e r u l i n g h o u s e h a d been t h e u l t i m a t e e x p r e s s i o n o f t h e N a t i o n - I d e a for c e n t u r i e s , b u t now a new ago d e m a n d e d a n e w f o r m of the n a t i o n - c o n c e p t to reflect the m a t e r i a l i s t i c o u t l o o k o f the X I X t h c e n t u r y . M a t e r i a l i s m thus created the l i n g u i s t i c test of nationality. 18

The increasing expansive tendency of the W e s t e r n o r g a n i s m had resulted in a vast increase of the W e s t e r n p o p u l a t i o n , the reflection of its more extensive life-task. F r o m this arose huge economic systems, stronger States t h a n any t h a t had previously existed, larger-scale w a r s , a n d c o n s t a n t increase of the powercontent of the struggle. T h e l i t e r a r y concept of t h e N a t i o n - I d e a i s o l a t e d the nations from one another, a n d a c c e n t u a t e d t h e i r n a t i o n a l feelings v i s - a vis one another. O u t of this arose the distorted p a t r i o t i s m called chauvinism, or jingoism. It invaded the universities, the w o r l d of letters, the cabinets, and the political parties. It concentrated a l l of i t s hopes, feelings, ideals and understanding on to the nations, a n d in its last stage, it finally attained to the ridiculous idea that nations are the creators of c u l t u r e , t h a t , thus, there were as m a n y C u l t u r e s in E u r o p e as there were nations. Since i t h a d been t h e f e e l i n g o f C u l t u r e u n i t y w h i c h h a d b o u n d E u r o p e together, a n d had kept its i n t e r n a l politics a n d wars l i m i t e d and c h i v a l r o u s , t h i s insane f o r m o f n a t i o n a l i s m w a s s t r i k i n g a t t h e very basis of the u n i t y of E u r o p e . If, in a war between t w o E u r o p e a n States, each one regarded itself as a C u l t u r e , t h e n the o p p o n e n t w a s a total e n e m y , a n d t h e s t r u g g l e w a s a n absolute one. T h i s new c o n c e p t o f w a r a n d p o l i t i c s g o v e r n e d t h e m i n d s o f the materialistic democrats and liberals, who now welcomed the jingoist into their republic of destruction. T h e jingoists rei n c o r p o r a t e d the entire past i n t e r m s o f the X I X t h c e n t u r y nations. They spoke of these nations as though they had always existed, and were m e c h a n i c a l l y and c a u s a l l y necessary to the existence of the w o r l d , a s i f t h e y w e r e t h e sole u n i t s o f h i g h e r h i s t o r y , a n d a s i f t h e f u t u r e , a s w e l l the p a s t , b e l o n g e d t o these h i s t o r i c a l b u i l d i n g blocks. B u t once more, the materialistic assault was not entirely successful. T r a d i t i o n d i d not break d o w n c o m p l e t e l y , because i t is the very core, t h e w r a p p i n g of the soul of the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e . T h u s , after t h e F r a n c o - P r u s s i a n W a r , late i n the X I X t h century, B i s m a r c k saw to the safety and honourable t r e a t m e n t of the defeated F r e n c h E m p e r o r , a n d the t r e a t y of peace was in t h e X V I I I t h century chivalrous style. The vertical nationalism of materialistic jingoism did not succeed in d e s t r o y i n g entirely the feeling of C u l t u r a l u n i t y , and the proof is in the W e s t e r n reaction t o t h e C h i n e s e B o x e r R e b e l l i o n i n 1900. A s one, the E u r o p e a n nations joined, together w i t h the A m e r i c a n colony, in sending a joint e x p e d i t i o n a r y force to r e p r e s e n t a n d p r o t e c t E u r o p e as a unit, under the c o m m a n d of the G e r m a n F i e l d - M a r s h a l Waldersee. The struggle between T r a d i t i o n and vertical nationalism continued a n d finally reached its highest i n t e n s i t y w i t h the caesura of the F i r s t W o r l d W a r . B u t suddenly, w i t h the end o f t h a t w a r , there was a new world in existence. E u r o p e , in that powerful t r e m o r , h a d entered u p o n a new phase of its existence. The break w a s j u s t as p r o f o u n d as t h a t of the R e v o l u t i o n of 1789, the o t h e r great turning-point in recent E u r o p e a n history. The old notions of materialism nations, society, history, politics, State, war, 19

culture, education, ethics, science, were a l l swept away. In their place was a new, complete, organic view of life. Its relation to the o l d , m a t e r i a l i s t - r a t i o n a l i s t - d e m o c r a t i c - c o m m u n i s t view is most e a s i l y u n d e r s t o o d , n o t as t r u e to false, b u t as the F u t u r e to the Past. The old materialistic, disintegratory, atomistic, liberalp a r l i a m e n t a r y view of the w o r l d had simply died a n a t u r a l death. T h i s is t h e o n l y w a y h i s t o r i c a l Ideas c a n be overcome, the o r g a n i c way, by complete fulfilment and death. The First W o r l d W a r itself was a creation—the last independent c r e a t i o n — o f that old o u t l o o k ; it was the h i g h e s t expression of v e r t i c a l n a t i o n a l i s m and the age of m a t e r i a l i s m . O u t o f the d e a t h o f t h e a g e o f m a t e r i a l i s m c a m e the n e w values. F i r s t , in the realm of economics, the favourite preserve of the l i b e r a l - c o m m u n i s t - d e m o c r a t i c gentry, the old ethical p r i n ciple of c a p i t a l i s m y i e l d e d to the new p r i n c i p l e of e t h i c a l socialism. I n s t e a d o f t h e c u t - t h r o a t c o d e o f e v e r y m a n for h i m self, a n d t h e c o n c e p t of life as a r u t h l e s s D a r w i n i a n c o m p e t i t i o n to g e t r i c h , t h e r e arose t h e new code of each m a n for a l l , the feeling t h a t the S t a t e is the custodian of the destiny, and thus, of the p o w e r , of a l l w i t h i n it, t h a t the a i m of L i f e is not to get r i c h , b u t to actualize one's self and one's possibilities w i t h i n the higher o r g a n i s m . Instead of the supremacy of economics and i n d i v i d u a l i s m , the s u b o r d i n a t i o n of economics a n d the i n t e g r a t i o n of the i n d i v i d u a l into the superpersonal life. T h e good conscience and theoretical foundations of laisser-faire vanished. In the s p i r i t u a l r e a l m , atheist m a t e r i a l i s m slowly began to recede f r o m its h e i g h t s a n d to y i e l d to a r e n e w a l of t r u e r e l i g i o u s feelings. In philosophy, sensualism gave way to the historical method, and the organism of the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e throbbed anew w i t h the rediscovery of its u n i t a r y destiny and its m i g h t y Imperialist mission in the world. In the sphere of Society, opposing t h e chaos of atomism, feminism, d i s i n t e g r a t i o n of h o m e and f a m i l y , race-suicide, and u n i v e r s a l decadence, arose the idea of race-ascendancy, f e r t i l i t y , the preservation and integration of society, the r e t u r n to social health. T h e i d e a o f the S t a t e r e s u m e d its p r i s t i n e s w a y i n the r e a l m of p o l i t i c s , a n d p a r l i a m e n t a r i s m , w i t h its c h a o t i c t r a i n of elect i o n , p r o g r a m m e s , utopias, a n d c o r r u p t i o n , t o o k its place a m o n g the archaic things. T h e a t t e m p t to use l e g a l i s m to deprive the E u r o p e a n o r g a n i s m of life was o v e r t h r o w n , a n d the E u r o p e a n will-to-power increased. T h e political life intensified, pacifism disappeared, E u r o p e a n man oriented h i m s e l f to the c o m i n g absolute w a r s for the s u r v i v a l of E u r o p e , and a g a i n s t the outer forces. After more than a century of constant disintegration, d i v i sion, a n d disunification, of a constant crisis arising from the autopathic Culture-disease of rationalist-materialism, the C u l t u r e came back once more to health a n d soundness, to A u t h o r i t y a n d F a i t h . The difference now was t h a t these States were not t r u e p o l i t i c a l u n i t s , b u t merely r e m nants w h i c h h a d t o u n i t e i f the o r g a n i s m o f E u r o p e were even barely to survive. The attempt in this situation to perpetuate petty-stateism a n d v e r t i c a l n a t i o n a l i s m was treason to E u r o p e and to every petty-State w i t h i n E u r o p e as w e l l . B u t treason is the profession of Culture-disease elements; t h e i r only acquaintance w i t h E u r o p e ' s g r a n d I m p e r i a l i s t m i s s i o n i n t h e w o r l d i s as with an enemy. W h e n t h e y see s o m e t h i n g g r e a t a r i s i n g , t h e y resolve in their crooked a n d envious souls to t h w a r t it and to tear it d o w n . T h i s was the W o r l d Empire of Europe. T h i s e m p i r e was the basis of the power, t h e security, the p r o s p e r i t y , yes, t h e very e x i s t e n c e of E u r o p e ' s peoples. I n r e a l i t y t h i s E m p i r e w a s s i m p l y a n d s o l e l y European, a n d its superficial o r g a n i z a t i o n as a c o l l e c t i o n of e m p i r e s — F r e n c h , E n g l i s h , G e r m a n — w a s o n l y apparent. B u t the internal tension created by petty-stateism was g e n e r a t i n g a c e n t r i f u g a l tendency w i t h i n t h e E u r o p e a n E m p i r e , a n d e x t r a - E u r o p e a n forces were e x p l o i t i n g this tendency. In particular, a revolt was spreading a m o n g the coloured races. The only way the great W o r l d - E m p i r e could m a i n t a i n its world-strength was by firmer integration in order to u p h o l d its mastery a n d reverse the diffusion of power. The final proof of the o r g a n i c u n i t y of t h i s W o r l d - E m p i r e was the fact t h a t no single E u r o p e a n N a t i o n - S t a t e c o u l d injure t h e power of another E u r o p e a n N a t i o n - S t a t e w i t h o u t at the same time injuring itself in an equal or greater measure. B u t this r u l i n g organic fact was ignored, a n d the t r a g e d y o f t h e F i r s t W o r l d W a r , the c r e a t i o n o f the C u l t u r e - r e t a r d e r s , t h e c h a u v i n i s t s , jingoists, a n d v e r t i c a l n a t i o n a l i s t s , was t h e p r i c e E u r o p e p a i d for the presence of C u l t u r e - d i s e a s e . A n y coloured or extraE u r o p e a n troops w h a t e v e r t h a t fought in t h i s w a r were fighting against all Europe. A n y extra-European fleets that participated were fighting the sea-power of E u r o p e . T h e d e m o n s t r a t i o n o f these o r g a n i c facts was t h e new s i t u a tion created by the war. T h e E n g l i s h fleet, t h e c h i e f u p h o l d e r o f E u r o p e a n p o w e r o n t h e seas o f t h e w o r l d , w a s d e f e a t e d b y t h e e x t r a - E u r o p e a n sea power of J a p a n and A m e r i c a . The new a r b i t e r s of the d e s t i n i e s of the e a r t h - b a l l w e r e the e x t r a - E u r o p e a n forces, J a p a n , A m e r i c a , a n d R u s s i a . Before the F i r s t W o r l d W a r , R u s s i a had figured as a Western State. Its r u l i n g s t r a t a , its r u l i n g o u t l o o k , were W e s t e r n . The tension which existed between the W e s t e r n elements of R u s s i a and the Asiatic will-to-destruction underneath was however strained to the breaking point by the F i r s t W o r l d W a r , and t h e A s i a t i c elements, in conduction with and assisted by the C u l t u r e State-Nation-Race-People-Society of the J e w a l l over the w o r l d , gained the upper h a n d and re-oriented R u s s i a against E u r o p e . F r o m t h e n o n w a r d , a n d also t o - d a y , 1950, R u s s i a f i g u r e s a s one of the leaders of the c o l o u r e d revolt a g a i n s t the E u r o p e a n race. B u t E u r o p e a n possibilities s t i l l e x i s t w i t h i n R u s s i a , because i n certain s t r a t a of the p o p u l a t i o n adherence to the great o r g a n i s m of the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e is an instinct, an Idea, a n d no m a t e r i a l force c a n e v e r w i p e i t o u t , e v e n t h o u g h i t m a y b e t e m p o r a r i l y repressed and d r i v e n under. 23

The F i r s t W o r l d W a r showed, to those who did not know the difference, the m u t u a l independence of m i l i t a r y a n d p o l i t i c a l victory. T h u s , a l t h o u g h R u s s i a was defeated in the field, it emerged from the war w i t h increased p o w e r a n d voice in the affairs of the w o r l d . J a p a n , which took no m i l i t a r y part in the war, was a leading political victor. A l t h o u g h E n g l a n d was supposedly victorious in the fight, it lost its power in the Pacific to J a p a n and A m e r i c a , its power in the W e s t e r n Hemisphere to A m e r i c a , its n a v a l hegemony to J a p a n a n d A m e r i c a , a n d its w o r l d - p r e s t i g e to the c o l o u r e d revolt a g a i n s t the E u r o p e a n race. T h e E u r o p e a n - E n g l i s h R a j in I n d i a was completely undermined by the w a r , a n d t h e s u c c e s s f u l I n d i a n M u t i n y i n 1947 s t e m s d i r e c t l y f r o m the F i r s t W o r l d W a r . B u t the Culture-retarders had not finished their work. They h a d f o u n d a E u r o p e w h i c h c o n t r o l l e d 9 / 1 0 t h s of t h e surface of t h e planet. L a w does not e x i s t to express and to serve life, no, these liberal-communistd e m o c r a t s s a i d t h a t Life e x i s t s i n o r d e r t o serve t h e Law. This old-Testament legalism determined to forever prevent E u r o p e from r i s i n g a g a i n o u t o f t h e g e n e r a l defeat o f the F i r s t W o r l d W a r and from reconquering the w o r l d - d o m a i n w h i c h belongs to it by v i r t u e of its s t r e n g t h of w i l l , its o r g a n i z a t o r y a b i l i t y , its necessity o f self-expression, its i r r e p r e s s i b l e i n s t i n c t , its D e s t i n y a n d its Faith. Here, as always, the various forms of Culture-disease showed their n a t u r a l affinity. The Culture-distorting Jewish State-Nation-Race supplemented the efforts of the Cultureretarders to hold E u r o p e down and back, to strangle it economically, a n d to force the dispersion of t h e E u r o p e a n populations over the earth as despairing, poverty-stricken, futureless emigrants. All the disease-elements united in the negation and hatred of the great European Resurgence of A u t h o r i t y . The conquest of the savage negro landscape of A b y s s i n i a by the E u r o p e a n race was diabolically represented as a " c r i m e " by the J e w i s h democratic-liberal-communist disease. Therefore, the n e x t assault was more carefully prepared a n d preceded by a thorough organization of the Culture-retarding e l e m e n t s for t h e s u p r e m e t r e a s o n o f c r e a t i n g a S e c o n d W o r l d W a r i n the f o r m o f a senseless s t r u g g l e w i t h i n t h e E u r o p e a n organism. A l l the world k n e w that such a war, if prolonged, could only r u i n the E u r o p e a n E m p i r e a n d every people a n d province of Europe. T h e i n d u s t r i a l life o f E u r o p e was u n i m p a i r e d , the a r m i e s were intact, but the A m e r i c a n - J e w a n d the J e w i s h - A m e r i c a n c o n t i n u e d t h e i r w a r a g a i n s t h o m e s a n d f a m i l i e s , w h i l e the forces o f A s i a t i c R u s s i a c a r r i e d o n the r e a l , the m i l i t a r y w a r . A t t h e e n d o f t h e i r w a r , t h e y w e r e able t o s u r v e y t h e Europe of their own creation. E u r o p e stripped of its worlde m p i r e a n d o c c u p i e d b y e x t r a - E u r o p e a n f o r c e s , e c o n o m i c a l l y dependent on them as a slave upon his master. In this E u r o p e of liberal-democracy, the enemies of E u r o p e proceeded to exploit their victory. D r u n k w i t h their power they b e g a n t o k i l l e n m a s s e t h o s e w h o h a d o p p o s e d them a n d w h o h a d devoted their lives to f u r t h e r i n g t h e D e s t i n y of Europe. E v e n in m u r d e r , they c o u l d n o t be s t r a i g h t : t h e y h a d to find O l d - T e s t a ment reasons, legalistic r i t u a l s , to mask their murders. THE MISSION OF THE LIBERATION FRONT E u r o p e k n o w s t h e i d e n t i t y o f the i n n e r e n e m y a n d t h a t for which he is responsible. It knows that he is the worst enemy of E u r o p e , because he masquerades as a E u r o p e a n , but E u r o p e has outer enemies toward w h o m also it m u s t adopt a definitive position. A n d a mere fifty years ago, E u r o p e was a proud independent o r g a n i s m , sure of itself and master of the w o r l d . The sacred soil of the W e s t e r n C u l t u r e is now occupied by the M o n g o l s , T u r k e s t a n i , and K i r g h i z i a n s of A s i a , by the Negroes of A m e r i c a , the Senegalese of A f r i c a , the J e w s from the pavements of the world. This is democratic Europe, liberal Europe. B u t these c o n d i t i o n s are only e x t e r n a l , m a t e r i a l . The soul of E u r o p e cannot be occupied, ruled, or dominated by Culturealiens. E v e n i n o u r short lives w e h a v e seen empires c o m e a n d go, and the t e m p o r a r y p o w e r - a g g l o m e r a t i o n s of Moscow and Washington will go the same way. T h e outer enemies of E u r o p e are doomed j u s t as the inner e n e m y is. T i m e is against the i n n e r enemy, because H i s t o r y cannot go b a c k w a r d , even if for a short t i m e b a c k w a r d - l o o k i n g dotards m a y t r y t o force H i s t o r y t o s h a r e t h e d e a t h - r a t t l e w i t h them. A n d s o w i t h these crude a n d heterogeneous things t h a t the Moscow barbarian a n d the W a s h i n g t o n J e w like to think are empires. N e v e r i n t h e 500 y e a r s o f R u s s i a n h i s t o r y has R u s s i a been able t o m a k e i t s w a y u n a i d e d i n t o E u r o p e . It invaded P r u s s i a against t h e great Frederick only when aided by France, A u s t r i a and Sweden. I t i n v a d e d F r a n c e i n 1 8 1 4 a n d 1815 only when assisted by E n g l a n d , A u s t r i a and Prussia. It invaded E u r o p e in 1945 o n l y by t h e h e l p of A m e r i c a . R u s s i a is only a t h r e a t t o a d i v i d e d E u r o p e ; a u n i t e d E u r o p e c a n d e s t r o y the power of R u s s i a at the m o m e n t of its choosing. It is a crass lie t o say t h a t E u r o p e cannot defend itself a g a i n s t R u s s i a . Do they t h i n k it is possible for E u r o p e to forget t h e knowledge t h a t it has j u s t purchased with the blood of millions of its sons? Do they believe t h a t E u r o p e can forget t h a t the Jewish-American regime, and it alone, b r o u g h t t h e Red A r m i e s into the heart of Europe? Is it possible that they t h i n k that E u r o p e can forget that the inner enemy w i t h his liberal-communist-democracy led Europe into this abyss? E u r o p e remembers, and it knows the liberal-democrat as the creature of the abyss, the spirit of negat i o n w h o seeks an ever-lower abyss. He destroyed a worldE m p i r e , a n d n o w he asks for t h e confidence of E u r o p e for a n e w crusade. T h e E u r o p e a n s t r u g g l e i s t h e f i g h t for t h e l i b e r a t i o n o f o u r sacred soil a n d our W e s t e r n soul. It is a h o r i z o n t a l struggle, against all enemies of E u r o p e , inner enemies and e x t r a - E u r o p e a n forces, w h o e v e r they are. Before Europe can fight a v e r t i c a l war, it m u s t be c o n s t i t u t e d as the I m p e r i u m of E u r o p e , the organic Culture-State-Nation-Race-People of the West. And when E u r o p e makes war then, it w i l l be against the p o l i t i c a l e n e m y o f i t s o w n c h o o s i n g , a n d a t the t i m e o f i t s c h o o s i n g . In these decisions, J e w , M o s c o w , a n d W a s h i n g t o n will figure not at all. The propaganda of the A m e r i c a n - J e w a n d the J e w i s h A m e r i c a n deceives no one. W i t h their t a l k of a struggle beween " E a s t " and " W e s t " they hope t o entice the m a r g i n a l minds of Europe into co-operation with them. B u t to us, the W e s t is a w o r d c o n t a i n i n g a d i v i n e l y - e m a n a t e d M i s s i o n , a sacred w o r d , a n d i t does n o t refer t o A m e r i c a , t o R u s s i a , o r t o t h e J e w , but solely to the sacred soil of E u r o p e a n d to the E u r o p e a n organism. A l l e x t r a - E u r o p e a n forces o n E u r o p e a n s o i l are enemies t o precisely the same extent a n d in exactly the same degree. E u r o p e w i l l n e v e r f i g h t for a n y e x t r a - E u r o p e a n f o r c e ; E u r o p e w i l l never enter into any relationship in which it is not m a s t e r ; the outcome of wars between e x t r a - E u r o p e a n forces is a m a t t e r of indifference to the future of E u r o p e . The crude-power structures of W a s h i n g t o n and Moscow have no Past, and therefore no F u t u r e . T h e y are w i t h o u t T r a d i t i o n , without a World-Mission, without a Nation-Idea, without a Destiny, without organic unity, without a State, and without Imperial possibilities. B o t h of these formless things are mere pale caricatures of the one, true, W o r l d - M i s s i o n , w h i c h inheres i n E u r o p e alone. T h i s M i s s i o n does not arise f r o m h u m a n w i l l , but is a direct e m a n a t i o n of G o d . I n this g r e a t s t r u g g l e for the L i b e r a t i o n o f E u r o p e , every E u r o p e a n o f race, h o n o u r , a n d p r i d e belongs w i t h us, r e g a r d l e s s of his provenance. The only E u r o p e a n s outside of our ranks are the C u l t u r e - t r a i t o r s , the disease of our A g e . The Liberation F r o n t itself is the provisional form of the E u r o p e a n nation, and it w i l l e n d u r e u n t i l the p e r m a n e n t f o r m of the E u r o p e a n I m p e r i u m is established. In the mission of the L i b e r a t i o n of E u r o p e , the exact date of final a c c o m p l i s h m e n t is secondary to us, precisely because we know that our victory is already determined. 31

F r a n c i s Y o c k e y s t u d i e d a t the U n i v e r s i t y o f M i c h i g a n , G e o r g e t o w n U n i v e r s i t y o f F o r e i g n S e r v i c e ( B . Y o c k e y s a w t h r o u g h the m o n s t r o u s f r a u d o f t h e s e s o - c a l l e d " w a r c r i m e s " ; h e w a s n a u s e a t e d w i t h the i l l e g a l p r o c e d u r e s b e i n g f o l l o w e d a n d , a f t e r an angry confrontation with Justice Jackson, r e s i g n e d . Y o c k e y t r a v e l e d a b o u t E u r o p e a n d s o u g h t out p e r s o n s a n d g r o u p s advocating European unification. L a t e in 1947, he d e c i d e d at last to put his thoughts down on p a p e r . S e c l u d i n g h i m s e l f at a s m a l l i n n at Brittas Bay, Ireland, he completed his monumental work I m p e r i u m . It is e x c e e d i n g l y difficult to r e v i e w Y o c k e y ' s a c t i v i t i e s at this p a r t i c u l a r juncture of his l i f e . Y o c k e y and his associates t r i e d t h e i r h a n d a t the f o r m a t i o n o f a r e v i s i o n i s t a n d p o l i t i c a l u n i t , a n d the E u r o p e a n L i b e r a t i o n F r o n t w a s b o r n . Efforts were made to establish liaison w i t h r e v i s i o n i s t r e - g r o u p i n g s on the C o n t i n e n t , disc u s s i o ngroups were started, a few open-air meetings were held, copies of Imperium were d i s t r i b u t e d , a newsletter was issued and a m a n i f e s t o was p u b l i s h e d — t h e one w h i c h you n o w h o l d in your h a n d s . Soon the p r e s s u r e exerted by the v i c t o r i o u s w o r l d C u l t u r e - d i s t o r t i n g apparatus reached a dangerous level. Y o c k e y ' s movements during this period were to become e v e r m o r e cloaked in s e c r e c y and k n o w l edge of his p e r s o n a l c o n t a c t s and h e l p e r s was n e c e s s a r i l y g u a r d e d . O p e n p o l i t i c a l e x p r e s s i o n o f the I d e a w a s not g o i n g t o b e t o l e r a t e d . O t h e r p r o b l e m s d e v e l o p e d : the p e t t y j e a l o u s i e s , s q u a b b l e s o v e r d o c t r i n a i r e p o i n t s a n d p e r s o n a l d i s l i k e s and m i s t r u s t s that s e e m t o attend e v e r y r e v o l u t i o n a r y m o v e m e n t began t o t a k e t h e i r t o l l . Y o c k e y , disappointed and tense, resented by his associates and t r i m m e d f i n a n c i a l l y , p a r t e d c o m p a n y — o n not t h e best o f terms— with his f o r m e r c i r c l e and was soon to begin his w o r l d - o d y s s e y , h i s f i n a l e l e v e n - y e a r M i s s i o n i n the S e r v i c e o f the W e s t , a p i l g r i m a g e in w h i c h he would become a c o m b i n a t i o n of M a r c o P o l o and outlaw, a n d w o u l d e v e n t u a l l y t a k e h i m a l o n g the t r a g i c p a t h that l e d t o h i s capture and m a r t y r d o m in a malodorous San F r a n c i s c o jail c e l l , J u n e 16, 1 9 6 0 . I n the e a r l y 1 9 5 0 ' s , a f e w c a r t o n s o f r e m a i n i n g I m p e r i u m s a n d Proclamations made their way to A m e r i c a .
