Adventure

I had everything I thought I wanted. And I burned it all to the ground. Many years ago I set out to get what I wanted in life. A beautiful fiancé, a purpose filled, impactful, coaching business, nice house, car, savings, you name it… On the surface all looked well, but on the inside all was not. …Although I loved aspects of my work, although I was selling thousands of books and coaching hundreds of incredible people, I’d started to drift away from what I loved, the writing, the coaching… Before I knew it I had a team of people, I was working every minute under the sun, spinning plates and running around like a headless chicken… All the while the aspects of work I loved ? Became less and less and less. Why ? Because I’d become numb. The busy-ness, the ego-inflation, the money made me lose sight of why I’d gotten into coaching in the first place… And as I marched forth relentlessly in full warrior mode, my life began to fall to pieces around me. So, on one dark winter’s night in Ireland, I decided to leave it all. Fiancé, business, house, car - gone. And I booked a one way flight to Brazil…

This trip wasn’t like the many I’d taken over the years… Life had a different message for me this time… When I arrived in Brazil, and all the noise stopped, and the stress and fear began to settle, My body opened up.. And I realised for the first time in my life… How heartbroken I truly was… The tears came flooding…I cried my way back to my heart, And I allowed life to pull me where it wanted to, deep into the ground, and deeper within myself… Beneath the surface I found tremendous reservoirs of old pain. The fear of inadequacy, being alone, the belief that I’m not good enough, and the grief of being someone who I was not, for such a long time… Through this process of reconnecting to my emotions & feelings, the melting process of transformation began. For gold cannot be cast into a new shape, before it first turns to liquid state.

The Abyss

I’ve had many mentors over the years, Many gave me a hand along the way. This time, like Gandalf the Grey, I had to find my own way. For one full year I worked through shadows, tears, roars, while shaking, crying & releasing, all of my pain and the old beliefs that were still active in my system from childhood… The pain was so daunting at times, I wanted to run home, get back to busy work, and start distracting my mind again… I’ll never forget something my good friend, Jesse Eustis, said to me one day. He asked “Why are you always trying to leave the battlefield, man”? …That statement hit me like a ton of bricks... And that’s when I realised, getting through this wasn’t about using the same old tools I’d relied on before. It wasn’t about “trying”, “pushing”, “grinding” or “hustling”. In fact, that was the exact energy that brought me here in the first place. I saw in that moment there was no way through this, except through the eye of the needle… I had to go where I did not want to go. And most importantly, I had to let go. I chose to remain in the abyss as long as it took… And over the next year I saw it all, I felt it all, and I let go of what felt like oceans of pain.

What I know now is those deep wounds became the womb I needed. I needed to reconnect to something authentic. I needed that time to remember who I was. I needed to heal. I needed to feel. I needed to change the way I was looking at the world. I needed to reimagine the life I wanted. I needed to learn to listen...to what life was really asking of me. I needed to rekindle my love for people again, my love for transformation. I needed to discover my true purpose in life. And it wasn’t long before life began to point me home, where this all began. Soon a new vigour, confidence and energy started to emerge. Something different, something solid, something real. And then I knew, I was ready for the next stage of the journey ahead. As I write this final piece for the hero’s journal, My business is undergoing the fastest growth I’ve ever experienced after 8 years as an entrepreneur. As thousands buy this journal each week, hundreds more reach out to seek my help. I believe this is not by coincidence. This is because I’ve found something that I both needed to share, and that people needed to hear.

This book is one of my gifts to the world. I’m beyond excited that you are here. And as you go along this journey with me, My hope is that you’ll use this system to help you move from wherever you are in your life, To some place you’d rather be. Whether that be building a business, getting healthier, discovering things about yourself you did not know. Building a family, a community, starting a movement, or doing whatever it is that makes your heart sing. and so this is not a book for you to follow in my footsteps. It's a blank slate for you to create your own reality. One with the authentic YOU at the helm. Inside I’ll be asking deep thoughtprovoking questions. These will challenge you to look where you may not want to look. I’ll be asking you to hack away that which does not serve you. I’ll be asking you to commit to yourself, To your mission, to your vision. This is the journey that lies ahead for you… I urge you to not take this work lightly, for words have power, and the decisions & choices you make here, Have the capacity to profoundly transform your reality.

School primed you to be a cog in a machine, and gave you a set number of potential “professions” to choose from… Perhaps growing up, you received some incredible information that truly served you… But perhaps also, you received a belief system & way of looking at the world that never served the unfolding of your potential in the slightest…

Did you know that the word “Matrix” means “Womb”? Personally, I find this fascinating… Except unlike in the movie, most humans today seem to happily accept their slavery & keep their umbilical cord plugged firmly into their controlling Mother. Why? Well, because just like in any codependent, parent-child relationship, there's a serious payoff in the deal…. So instead of embarking on a wild adventure of becoming a sovereign, powerful, free adult standing on their own two feet… Most people choose the comforts of a steady wage to keep them feeling safe, and all the bells and whistles of modern technology to keep them comfy, distracted, and hidden from the unfilled void that lurks beneath the surface…

When I look around the world today I don’t see a world of responsible, empowered, self-authoring adults…I see droves of un-initiated children. Seldom do most venture outside of their little ‘known world’… let alone face the true journey life is constantly inviting them to step into. And as consumption and the destruction of our planet rages, the masses appear to be becoming softer and more entitled than ever before. However, this is not the end of the human story. Because simultaneously growing numbers of people have had After working with 100’s of powerful, enough of being slave-like children… committed people and watching them do remarkable things in business… and after experiencing such radical transformation in my own life, I have come to believe there is, in fact, hope for us all indeed…And in this journal I’ll be giving you tools not just to re-write your own story, but even play your part in paving the way for the next stage of the human story…

For the one who is truly ready for the adventure of becoming an authentic, powerful being who creates a life of their choosing… Then this journey requires no less than FULL INITIATION into adulthood (I’ll explain more on what that means later). But first consider this; when a kid knocks a plate off the table, who cleans it up? The child or the adult? Obviously the adult does. Why? In the same way, your Because adults take responsibility, power as a sovereign children DON’T. adult lies in your willingness to take full responsibility for your life. What many refuse to accept is that RESPONSIBILITY IS AND ALWAYS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CHOICE. This is good news. Because not only do you get to decide what you do next with your life, you even have the power to revisit, rediscover and REWRITE THE STORY of your past, if you so choose.

Being radically responsible means taking responsibility for both your conscious choices AND your unconscious choices. If you choose to accept that you are where you are because of the choices and decisions you’ve made thus far in your life, then you hold the keys to what happens next. If you want to shift from the place you are now, into something bigger, more authentic and new…then my invitation to you would be to take FULL responsibility for what has happened before, what IS now, and most importantly, what happens next.

Remember, adults take responsibility,children don’t. I choose to be an adult, I choose to bear a load and march on forwards… Thus, I get to create the reality I desire. Of course I could have chosen comfort and safety, but the way I see it, that’s choosing to be a sheep… And personally, I’d rather be the wolf. Whichever path you choose, is entirely up to you…

The Journey

Ahead

Imagine you're watching a movie, following a hero along his journey... However, as he progresses through life, instead of descending into a roaring abyss, where he faces his darkest demons only to make incredible discoveries about himself and about life, before returning home with gifts to bestow upon his fellow men… The hero, instead, follows a linear 8 step path, and step-by-step, in a predictable way, he progressively makes his way to the finish line & it's happily ever after, The End.

Now, would that be an interesting movie to watch? Personally, I think NOT.. And my question for you is, what makes you think your journey should be any less extraordinary than the greatest heroes of our time? I say this because one gripe I have with the majority of the 'positive pop psychology' movement (and new-age ‘follow-the-light’ spirituality along with it) is they seem to have missed the part where you come face to face with your dragons. Instead of honouring the ancient paths of initiation our ancestors took, for example going off into the wilderness alone… Or the non-linear healing paths of many indigenous people, like working with shamans or plant medicine etc… Or, complex exploratory processes like Jungian psychoanalysis that cultivates separation/ individuation…

Many people seem to think that by consuming and following ‘how to videos’ or ‘expert podcasts’, that they can short-cut their process of growth by following someone else’s linear step-by-step path. Now here’s the problem with that; You were never meant to follow someone else’s fucking path. And this idea that you can simply take someone else's lived experience and use it to ‘think’ or ‘do’ your way to the life of your dreams, is FANTASY. Now, before you close this book and run for the hills, I’m not saying positive thinking & taking action doesn't have its place. In fact the entire 3rd and 4th part of this journal are about doing EXACTLY that, following systems, creating a plan, and taking serious action. However, this is only one part of the journey… The real journey is, and always has been, about being YOU. And YOU are far more than the things you ‘THINK’, ‘DO’, or ‘HAVE’ in your life.

Finally, just like the hero’s path doesn't go in a straight line, yours won't either, because that's not how life works. I’m sure you’re familiar with the Taoist yin yang symbol; Yin is the black half of the intertwined circles, yin represents the feminine, she also represents chaos... If your life doesn't look or feel authentic, beautiful, or the way you want it right now, then perhaps instead of trying to force or ‘yang’ your way to

So please, before you proceed in this journal, don't think for one second the path you go on here will look anything like anyone else's, because that's not what this journal is designed for. Instead, it's purpose is to help you find your own unique way to the top of the mountain that sits in front of you. Sure I can share stories and systems with you, but at the end of the day, you must walk through the door alone, for that’s the only way this will work.

change, you might consider taking a look at WHY you are where you are, why you do the things you do, and what might be lurking beneath the surface waiting for you to discover… You neve know, there may be some medicine for you here… And maybe it’s a windy dark journey to get there… But maybe, this path holds the keys to the very thing you’ve been looking for all along…

02. Awareness

Know Thyself 3 years ago I wrote a book called “Way Of The Modern Warrior.” The core idea was simple: War is won by warriors, business is NO different. In the first chapter I told the story of Alexander's conquest of Persia, and how it was NOT mere mindless savagery that got him there... But that it was a culmination of vision, wisdom, skill, and most importantly... unwavering commitment to a mission larger than himself.

As a result - He became the most powerful ruler the world has ever known before aged 30, an incredible feat that few would argue with... However there's a crucial part of this man’s story that I chose to leave out of the book…and as I reflect on Alexander today, I think to myself, perhaps this was the most important part of Alexander's story after all…

Alexander died aged 32, and while nobody knows exactly how he died (some claim it was alcoholic liver disease, others claim assassination).. I personally have no idea how Alexander came to meet his ultimate fate…BUT I can't help but wonder WHY death came knocking for him at such a young age… There’s no question Alexander was both a remarkable visionary and leader, but Alexander was also a ruthless warlord. The campaigns he carried out across the world were nothing short of savage. And hundreds of thousands lost their lives as a consequence of his mission. Any man with a conscience and a heart, would surely feel the impact of this. A decade-long surge of death, destruction, drama and disease, in which he’d marched nearly 3000 miles across the breadth of the entire known world at the time… One can only imagine the amount of stress and chaos involved in all of that… Perhaps enough to lead to this famous emperor’s swift demise… So here's an idea: What if Alexander was missing something? I mean it's no secret that most warrior cultures had little room for softness and heart. Macedonians, along with Greeks and Spartans underwent brutal training and treatment since they were little boys as young as age 7 - With little room for tears and tenderness, most men became as stoic as steel. In fact, that was the culture that gave rise to stoicism; a necessary philosophy to be able to handle the terrible times of war. 19

Today we that's awakening millennia of near all born out of men after all the brutality we we have lost connection to

live in a world after several constant wars, almost seeking power… perhaps, have been through as people, something dear along the way:

For many years now I’ve coached hundreds of entrepreneurs… I’ve helped them launch & scale businesses, break through barriers and achieve remarkable feats in the realm of business… Throughout this journey, I too have received an extortionate amount of coaching. As a result, monetary success came, and so too did influence… Yet the larger I grew, and the more immersed I became in the world of business…the more I lost connection to my heart. And as I mentioned already, it was this path of ruthless warrior mode that ultimately led to terrible consequences (more on that later)… However thankfully, and perhaps unlike Alexander, I was fortunate enough to find my way through that darkness. And while there were many pieces to that puzzle, one of the most critical things I did was take the time to get to know WHO I AM, and WHAT I NEED to both thrive, love, and bring forth all I have to offer this world. And so, The Complete Warrior System was born. 20

Know Thyself

You are not mere flesh and bones, nor are you merely your mind, intellect or thoughts. And while I won’t attempt to define ‘what’ you are. I do know that you, just like every human, have at least these 4 parts; You have a MENTAL body, a PHYSICAL body, an EMOTIONAL body and an ARCHETYPAL body (I'll explain more on what that means later) For now just understand this: to sever any one of these parts of yourself in its very essence is denying an integral part of who and what you are. Or in other words, it is to live a ‘disembodied’ life.

It’s the sum of the parts that make up the whole. And so just like a car can’t operate without wheels, nor a ship without a sail... if you want to BE a whole sovereign adult, or a powerful creator that dictates his or her destiny, then you are going to need EVERY part of your being to ensure this epic vision turns into a living, breathing, reality. So the journey you’ll be invited into here is not simply ‘designing’ your life and striving forwards. It’s about knowing yourself, discovering yourself, it’s about awakening parts of you that have fallen dormant beneath the surface. This work is critical, and so this stage of The Hero’s Journal ensures that no stone is left unturned here:

What is in the dark, will be brought to the light, what is repressed will come to the surface…the roaring flame that exists within you will be stoked and fed. And so you can begin to embody what is authentic, what is yours, and most importantly, what is fundamentally ready to be born into this world anew.

Hero’s Journey

Uncovering your deepest life’s purpose

My favourite movie scene of all time is in The Lion King; The Kingdom has fallen. Scar rules from Pride Rock like a Tyrant. The hyenas have ripped the life out of the land. The lions and animals live in grave fear, and a terrible darkness has descended over a place which was once filled with life, order and harmony.

In an attempt to save the day, the young Lioness Nala sets out to find Simba, and bring him home to The Pride Lands. Upon finding him, instead of encountering the powerful son of a king… She finds a whimpering wuss who’s forgotten he’s even a lion… He’d rather stay in comfort playing around with his friends like a kid, than accept the responsibility that stares him directly in the face. Not before long Rafiki, the wise shaman-like baboon, appears… There’s something curious here, thinks Simba, as he begins to chase him down… As Rafiki swings cheekily from tree to tree through the enchanted forest, Samba dashes desperately after him until he finally comes to a screeching halt.. A mysterious lake appears, and the whole mood shifts… As Simba begins to approach the water cautiously. In that moment something profound happens… Rafiki points to the water, and as Simba drops his gaze and stares into the water, his Father, Mufasa, slowly appears and stares right back at him. In this heart wrenching moment, Simba remembers what happened to him, he remembers who he truly is, he feels his father’s love within his heart, and so he finally understands the destiny and responsibility that lies before him.

96% of businesses fail within 10 years of starting out. There’s a horrific truth in this statistic. And personally, after 8 years in entrepreneurship, I’ve seen it proven true time and time again. Few ascend to great heights, while most fade away and perish… After mentoring & teaching thousands of people across the world, I see a clear pattern in those who rise, versus those who fall. Today, there’s really only 1 fundamental ingredient I look for to tell me if someones going to have the commitment necessary to pull this off…

And that’s this; Is your business & mission connected to YOUR hero’s journey? Some might think, why is that important? I would go as far to say it’s not just important, but that without it, you don’t stand a chance. Entrepreneurship is a gruelling path that tests you in every way. And without unwavering commitment to a cause that’s BIGGER than yourself, well, just like Simba ‘almost’ did, you’ll fall victim to the safety and comfort of the familiar. Honouring your story and all that you’ve been through to lead you to this point right here, right now, is critical.

The hardships and battles you’ve faced in your life were not just fundamental to your growth… They likely led to profound realisations, lessons and shifts in your consciousness. What you discovered in the void, was your “boon” or in other words, your gifts for the world… In this part of the journal, you’re invited to answer a series of revealing questions to uncover all of the hidden value that lays within you… I invite you to think deeply about these questions, come back to your answers regularly, for it’s easy to forget how much you’ve come to know and how powerful you really are.

WHAT STANDS IN YOUR WAY?

incredible value they hold, they question themselves constantly… Am I good enough? Can I really do this? What will people think of me? Who am I to do this? All of these inadequacies lead to constant procrastination… It’s devastating because it often happens EXACTLY when you’re on the cusp of breakthrough… You hit a barrier, turn away unconsciously, and drift back to the familiar, the safe, the known.

By now you’ve probably identified an immense amount of value you already have… Now the next question is, are you truly honouring that value, giving your gifts, helping others AND receiving adequate value in exchange for all you give? So many people I see never fully honour their value, nor do they daringly stick their neck out & step into their power. Why? Because instead of seeing the

If you continue to ignore the invitation to step into your life’s purpose and show yourself to the world, well, the opposite of expression is depression… And so instead of a beautiful flowering of you, you descend back into the safety of the familiar, playing the inauthentic character of your small self once again… This is sad, and because awareness is the first step to change, it’s necessary that you take a look to see if you do this too, and more importantly WHY you do this: Answer the questions below, and be brutally honest with yourself:

If you’re not clear on this, imagine yourself doing something bold, perhaps standing in front of thousands of people sharing an inspired message from your heart…Or… imagine leading a workshop, or signing copies of your book after a successful launch… Now, feel into that fear… And ask yourself this: If this fear had a voice, what would it say? Or… What am I scared of? Say the words:

The Hero’s Shadow Once you identify your fear, it’s important to understand WHY it’s there. When you feel the fear, next ask yourself :

What does this mean about me? (ask this multiple times whilst feeling your fear) The purpose of this exercise is to pull up what’s lurking beneath the surface. If you get some answers like, “I’m not good enough”, “I don’t deserve it”, then you’ve just identified a core ‘deficiency story’.

What does that mean? I’ll explain more in a minute but basically, it’s a belief about yourself or in other words a false identity you adopted somewhere in childhood. Let’s continue… Not getting clear answers? Let me share a technique with you, it’s called ‘Reverse Inquiry’ (Credit to my mentor, Scott Kiloby for discovering this) Ready? Let’s do it: Imagine yourself once again, doing the thing you both fear and desire most… Then repeat the words to yourself

“I am good enough” or

“I deserve this”

Right now you are in communication with your unconscious mind, and I’d guess that it might be saying something like “But I’m not good enough” “I’m not worthy” “I don’t deserve this” or something along those lines.

The Secret To Flow About 7 years ago I spent a month in a remote Chinese temple learning Kung-Fu with monks... It was both a gruelling and fascinating experience… But when I look back at it now, it amazes me to consider WHY I’d gone there in the first place… You see I’d spent that entire year prior searching for something… I’d travelled to Peru to drink Ayahuasca with Shamans, I spent months learning yoga in the Himalayas, and I’d even sat in a silent meditation retreat for 10 straight days, speaking to no one, looking at no one and meditating up to 10 hours a day… Some might see this as healthy, discipline in action… But as I look back now, I can see the driving force behind it wasn’t actually healthy at all; Basically, I’d hit a point in my life where my thoughts had become so relentless and obsessive that I couldn’t get a moments rest from the noise in my head, “do this”, “do that”, “invest in this”, “build that”, “learn this”, “get that”, and on and on and on…. I had begun to crave peace so badly, that I decided to go to war with the thoughts in my head (what I’d later discover was a seriously bad idea)... In a nutshell, I was prepared to do anything to cage the monkey upstairs, and this journey was my attempt to do just that. Yet even after an entire year+ of studying, practising and learning everything I could about ancient philosophy and spirituality... I returned home, only to lose myself in work addiction once again, and the slow, progressive road to burnout began to unfold (more on that later)

The temple I went to in China was called Wu-Wei-Su. Wu-Wei essentially means ‘Effortless Action’... Or as some might understand the term; ‘No Force’... It’s funny to look back on the journey from where I stand today, because I see now that literally EVERYTHING I was doing back then was coming from a place of both EFFORT and FORCE. In truth, I didn’t know any other way to approach life… And after a near decade of meditation, breathwork, yoga, martial arts, you name it… It took me going through the most brutal break-up & breakdown to finally grasp and experience what Wu-Wei actually means… After a plethora of profound insights and shifts, today I finally feel in harmony with the principle of Wu-Wei, and after experiencing what it’s like to live this, going back to the way I was before simply isn’t an option… Because when you can EMBODY a state of ‘non-resistance’ literally EVERYTHING in your life flows so much easier. As I write this story today, words flow freely and I feel joy in my heart with every sentence that comes forth. A few years ago? I’d be trying to force my way to the finish line with a pit of low-level anxiety in my stomach that urged me forward like a slave-driver with a whip… And whilst this DID get me from zero to one, it never got me from one to ten…while the brutal consequences of operating that old way left some deep scars to remind me what happens when you attempt to control life through force and effort. 40

The Secret To Flow The truth is, there’s a better way to bring about what you want in life… And It’s not just me who knows this, the science is out on ‘flow state’; Creativity goes up by 300%, productivity by 500%, let alone the amazing feeling of being in harmony and rhythm with your work, your surroundings and life as a whole… So what’s the secret to flow then? Well, here I'm going to explain the fundamental piece I didn’t understand and had to discover the hard way, and I hope you’ll see for yourself, whether this is true for you or not too. that tell you “just BE with what is”, or “let everything arise to awareness”... Tried that too! Now here’s the problem with both of these approaches, and it took me years to figure this out; What I discovered was frankly shocking; I had literally OCEANS of trapped energy in my body that WAS NOT and WAS NEVER GOING TO simply ‘arise to awareness’, nor was it ever going to be quelled or dispelled by ignoring it, suppressing it & marching on with a stiff upper lip…

The first thing you must understand is WHAT ‘resistance’ actually is. A lot of people talk about resistance these days, and the solutions they offer - tend to be the classic American “fight ‘til you die” kind of approach; “Optimise your life with discipline and action”, “Conquer fear”, “Control your thoughts” etc... ALL once again, the same old game of fighting against and battling with everything that already IS… Then, on the flipside of that, you’ve got “gurus” and spiritual teachers

And in this discovery I was AMAZED at how few people online seemed to be talking about this fundamental problem! And so this is another huge gripe I have with the vast majority of the personal development industry, because the way I see it, without bringing light to the darkness, as Jung says, “it will run your life, and you will call it fate”. In my opinion 99% of people have NO IDEA how much trapped energy and emotion they are holding onto in their body. THIS IS THE RESISTANCE everyone is pointing to, yet nobody has any idea of what to do about it. This is the holding pattern most people are constantly stuck in; they are resisting FEELING AND EXPERIENCING all of their emotions, feelings, thoughts, sensations and pain. And here’s the trickiest part; the VAST majority of emotions and feelings people have, are SO repressed, that they have no idea they are even there in the first place. Instead they are numbed out to the fact they’ve got a volcano of energy beneath the surface that is constantly trying to release and express itself…

All the while they wonder why their mind is chaotic and they find themselves constantly stressed out or in drama with everyone in their life. This is the fundamental issue nobody wants to accept or deal with. And if you want it to change, well, you’re first gonna need to feel it, and heal it, before you can ever fully let go of it. This is the only way to the state of non-resistance. This

is the only way to truly embody flow and harmony inside your body and life. The journey is no less than coming out of emotional repression which involves not only releasing all of the frozen emotion that’s trapped inside you, but actually learning how to feel again, an art that our numbed out modern culture appears to have almost completely forgotten.

So if you’re tired of the constant energy draining, stress creating battle that is the holding back of emotion…and you’re ready for a new way that creates energy-flow, harmony and health… Then that’s good news, because thankfully, I’ve found a technique that not only helps you heal and feel, but is also incredibly regulating to your nervous system, and today I’m going to give you a little taster. The Secret To Flow But anger’s not the only energy the warrior cultivates. For example; some of the poetry written by ancient Samurai is both deeply profound, beautiful and terribly sad. Your sadness is fundamental too…It shows you what to care about, it connects you to the world around you, to people, to your heart. Without honouring your sadness, without feeling into your heart's depth, one simply becomes a hard headed machine, and although machines are useful, seldom can they create a message that touches peoples hearts, let alone inspire thousands into action.

When you can feel and listen to your fear, it brings with it profound information and guidance; And so, the warrior welcomes fear, the warrior feels fear, the warrior hears the message of fear. And in this dynamic relationship, in the subtle whispers beneath the anxiety, he learns to read the matrix. He sees who he can trust, he sees who & what to avoid, what to create, and what to destroy. Finally there’s joy. Because what's the point of all this if you can’t laugh, dance, play and celebrate. This life is a game, and just like a musician with an instrument, this game is yours to play, my invitation is to enJOY this journey my friend. Now here’s one last secret, to the degree to which you allow ALL your feelings to flow, is to the degree joy flows naturally. This is the secret of Wu-wei, effortless action, this is you in a dynamic flow with your thoughts, feelings and the world around you. Next we have fear, the illusive dragon who guards the deepest chambers of your heart. Most consider fear to be their deepest enemy. I do not, and the warrior does not. Most people are stuck in a constant battle resisting their fear and trying to “overcome” it. But the more you resist, the more it persists. When you stuff down fear, or any of your feelings for that matter, they wreak havoc in your life. But what many don’t realise, is there’s another possibility; FEEL the fear.

Now it’s time for the bad news… Unfortunately, like most people, you've lived your entire life in a world that did not allow you to feel or express yourself fully. And so in order to survive, you stuffed down what was authentically yours to feel and express. Frozen, stuck or ‘repressed’ emotion in your body has been scientifically proven to be a causal factor in almost every disease known to man. Look at the word closely; ‘DIS - EASE’. Ever felt uptight? Stressed? Blocked? All of these signs point to the repression of emotion, and if you truly want to feel at ease in your body and in the world, there is likely much you need to unwind, let go of, feel, and release…

Take a moment to go within yourself, calm yourself with your breath... Then, in your mind's eye, pull up a panoramic view of every important person or authority figure from your life; your mum, your dad, even your peers at school...

Then, say to yourself it's ok to

show anger here. I can show sadness here. It's safe to show fear here… Play with the wording until you find a phrase that feels authentic to you… Then feel into your system as you repeat these phrases individually.

Did you get a no? It’s not ok? It’s not safe?

The

repression test

In this first exercise you'll discover what is repressed within you, again, this is not to change this now, but to at least give you an X on the map for now.

Bingo. You just identified a deeply unconscious decision known as a command. Somewhere, sometime you decided it was not safe to feel or express this emotion. And so the repression session began. Identifying this command is the doorway to your emotional body and it’s known as the ‘repression barrier’. In short, all that anger or sadness you’ve been stuffing down over the years-it never actually went away, instead, it remained frozen in your body… And now, years later, your nervous system is stuck in a constant holding pattern, wasting oceans of precious energy to keep those emotions locked down tight. When I began to release trapped emotion in my body, everything in my physical experience began to radically transform, stress melted, anxiety too, I could feel my heart again, I could be myself again, I could dance, shout, laugh, and play… A quantum leap from the stressed out creature hunched over a computer I’d somehow become.

Defining your Mission ˜WHAT WORK ARE YOU HERE TO DO ? ˜WHO ARE YOU HERE TO SERVE ? ˜WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE FOR THE WORLD ? ˜WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO CHANGE ? Knowing and choosing your mission over the next few years of your life is an enormous decision. And often, the lure of safety, security, comfort and practicality prevent us from ever fully stepping into service. There’s really only one way to combat this.

You have to fucking CARE. You must care about you, about people and about the world around you. Your anger, sadness and joy are critical allies here. I invite you to use them to show you what's most important to you. Here’s an exercise you can do to help you with this:

A conscious rage exercise to uncover your mission Grab two towels. Stand firm in horse stance, or lie down on your back if you prefer. Next, place one towel in your mouth, and begin to wrench the other as if it were soaking wet and you were trying to squeeze it dry. The goal here is to begin to build your anger from 0%, all the way from to 10-20-50-75-even 100% anger if you can do it.

This is a difficult process and may feel ludicrous, but trust me, try it for 3 minutes straight, and you’ll be amazed at what can happen. If you’re an anger repressor, sometimes your anger is locked down tight, and doesn’t express itself easily.

If this is the case, I’d invite you to imagine someone who pisses you off in front of you in your mind's eye. Then repeat the words to yourself; I’m NOT angry at them. What you’re doing here is called ‘poking the bear’, there's a good chance your unconscious mind will object to the statement and say something like; “I AM ANGRY” or “I f**king hate them”. Whatever comes, let it come, wrench the towel as if you’re trying to rip the thing apart. Stay with it, build the anger, say the words “I’m angry because ” over and over again for 3 minutes straight. If and when you break through, grab your journal and your pen and begin to write down ALL the things you are angry about in this world and certain people in it. Whatever comes next, is the shit that you came here to change in the world. You just uncovered your mission, now it’s time to engrave it in stone.

Vision 5 years ago I was in the grips of adrenal fatigue. After a lifetime of having endless stores of crazy kid-like energy, all of a sudden, I had zero energy. And I had no idea why. I’d spent the 3 years prior to that moment building e-commerce businesses that, by that time, I’d grown to hate. Vision Over the next few months I decided to take his coaching certification program, along with several others… More importantly, I decided to proactively create a vision for how I wanted my life to be. Efficiency, Sacrifice, Delegation I used to spend my days bogged down doing all the things I hated in my business (answering emails, troubleshooting, building websites, you name it) By the end of each day, I’d be so burned from juggling 50 moving pieces, all I’d want to do was drink a beer and watch tv… But the saddest part? Is that all of the beautiful creative work I had to offer the world, stayed stuck beneath a pile of anxiety and overwhelm.

WHAT You’re not made to do everything. You have unique talents and they must be I’D honoured. Furthermore, human LATER beings are NOT designed to LEARN multi-task. People (men especially) are stubborn as hell and wont ask for help (eg0, pride, lone-wolf mentality) 3. Or… They simply refuse to pay for help (scarcity, fear, mistrust-because they ultimately don’t trust themselves) THE CONSEQUENCE? 4. People don’t value and honour themselves People rarely get away from and their talents enough to spend their time URGENT, pressing tasks that doing meaningful and enjoyable work (lack of bombard them on a daily basis. self-worth, belief & self trust) Unfortunately, this rarely leaves time for the HIGHLY-IMPORTANT (non-urgent) activities that actually make your business soar! These HIGHLY-IMPORTANT activities are not only what contribute to long term success, they’re most likely the work you enjoy most as well. You see, the thingsyou enjoy doing require zero motivation or willpower. Which dramatically increases your ability to remain focused and energized throughout the day. For example, I love teaching, I love writing, I love speaking and I love coaching. I don’t need to motivate myself to do these things, and doing them makes me feel fulfilled and productive.

Not only am I gonna feel like crap, but the MOST IMPORTANT things in my business, the things that require focus, time and creativity…

Ever wonder how some entrepreneurs are able to build 7 figure businesses in 2 years…? Yet, some entrepreneurs take 10-20 years just to reach 6 figures? It’s actually pretty simple. When you look at the #1 success indicator for entrepreneurs (and all people for that matter) it always comes back to one simple thing: Delayed gratification. Meaning? Your ability to sit down and focus on ONE THING for prolonged periods of Entrepreneur A works 4 hours per time, is the ultimate indicator of your success. Sound day, checks social media con too simple? Then, consider this. Take 2 entrepreneurs stantly, has every notification enabled on his phone, has countless friends and for example. family (many of whom who he doesn’t even like) contacting him multiple times during the day… He does all of his chores and cooking himself… He reads the news, watches TV, plays video games, gets involved in politics, economics you name it. He has multiple side hustles and projects going on at one time… Health and quality sleep are of secondary concern… And he frequently finds himself in drama in his relationships… Then you have Entrepreneur B… He works on his business for 9 hoursa day, has zero notifications enabled on any device. He pays little attention to anything that’s going on in the world other than what is relevant to his business and industry. He spends quality time with only his closest friends and family and has extremely disciplined health and work habits. He sleeps great, rarely finds himself in conflict with others and has few hobbies and interests outside of what supports his personal and entrepreneurial growth… He only ever works on one project at a time and loves the work he does.

So… which Entrepreneur do you think is going to build a 7 figure business faster? The answer is obvious… What’s less obvious however is… How much faster? Here’s where things get really interesting. You see there’s 4 things that influence your output and efficiency above all else, Well, if you find yourself in a battle I call them the 4 keys: Focus, Energy, Time, Unique Ability. for customers with Entrepreneur A To put it simply… If you can become disciplined enough (which is how MOST people to ensure you are twice as focused and energized as your operate)… Well, you’re now competitors… While also ensuring you work twice as working 8X times more efficiently many hours doing ONLY work you love (your unique ability). than your primary competitor… Meaning? You’re gonna get to the top of that mountain 8X times faster (or more…). So, if you want an edge? Look no further than optimising The 4 Keys. So now the question is… Where are you losing points of output and energy every single day? Are old friends draining your energy with drama? Are social media apps on your phone hacking your dopamine system and keeping you stuck in a perpetual loop seeking immediate gratification? Are you spending time engaging in stressful things that you cannot control? (e.g. politics, the news, the environment, trading stocks and so on…) Is your diet weighing you down with brain-fog and lethargy? The serious entrepreneur on a mission MUST value his time and energy above all else. He must prioritise deep work, focus and flow. For it is the only way you can be sure your vision comes to fruition. It’s the only way you can ensure that you reach your highest potential. Working ‘hard’ is easy. But working ‘smart’ is not. THE MODERN WARRIOR MORNING SYSTEM

Own your day. Conquer your mission For the past 3 years I’ve been running a morning system that has led to absurdly disproportionate results in my business. It takes about 10-15 minutes to run... And if you stick to your guns and execute on what you say you will... Well, you’ll get more done in a few hours of work than most do in a week... And after 100 days of this? You’ll have already achieved more than most people do in years, even decades in comparison to many. Run this system for 3 years (like I have) - you would NOT believe what happens in front of your eyes... Take this journal for example. In its first month it produced $100,000 in sales completely on autopilot (as a digital journal). I didn’t need to coach anyone, talk to anyone, post on social media, send a single email, nor send a single physical product to anyone in order to make this happen. Every single part of the machine that sold this journal was completely automated using software and ONE part-time employee to help with customer service.

I spent on average about 10-15 minutes each day monitoring & tweaking the ads for performance...and I spent the rest of my days doing what I love; being creative, building things for the future, and taking care of mind, body, heart and living through my mission. Now, obviously building a machine like this takes focus, work, and an amazing product that provides tremendous value to people... And so, in order to make this happen? I spent the several months prior to launch doing just that; building an incredible product and a powerful machine to sell it!

Most people don’t do this, nor think like this. They don’t innovate, they don’t create, they don’t build, they don’t think long term, they don’t think in terms of leverage (i.e. what small inputs can I do today, that will produce disproportionate results tomorrow), they don’t think in terms of investment (how can I invest $1 and make $10 back in the future...) Most people are instead, caught in an endless hamster wheel putting out fires, getting distracted every 5 minutes & ending up at the end of the day, perhaps feeling accomplished, yet with nothing built that’s going to last into the future nor feed their family for years to come. Every great mind from Archimedes to Aristotle to Alexander knew the secret to greatness lay in the hands of leverage, and if you seek to gain financial and time freedom too, it’s time to start playing the game of the masters.

Often when I consult with a person on their business that’s struggling to grow, I ask a simple question; What percentage of your day is dedicated to marketing and sales? The answer generally lies between 0-10%.... Now here’s the thing - marketing and sales are the ONLY revenue producing activities in your business. Period. So, without further explanation, if you have a business that’s struggling too, well your problem may just be staring at you directly in the face. On a deeper level, the underlying big issue is this: The vast majority of business owners never really take the time to understand business. And because, like everyone else, most entrepreneurs come through the modern education system (which breeds people to be cogs in a machine)... when they enter the world of entrepreneurship, they are still carrying a ‘time=money’ belief system AND slave-like-employee habits from their years spent working for someone else... And then, when the business fails to produce the results it needs to sustain itself and grow, they wonder why they’ve joined the graveyard along with the other 96% new entrepreneurs that don’t make it. As always, the solution lies within yourself.

Throughout time, and ever increasingly today, there exists a small few who truly soar ahead. These people are almost always the ones who are committed to their path of mastery above all else: They pursue their vision relentlessly, they learn the science of business, they honour their gifts & skills, learn how to leverage them AND they place extraordinary value on their personal time….and as an inevitable consequence - they invariably find themselves among the top 1% (or even 0.01%) of the top earners in the world. While I still have much to learn, at 33 years old I’m grateful to say I’ve successfully joined these ranks too, and it was all down to taking consistent ‘right’ action each day; the exact philosophy that's stored inside The Modern Warrior Morning System. So let’s break this down: There are 4 activities that produce revenue in a business:

Hunting

Any activity that’s likely to put food on the table NOW. (Think groups, networking, sending text messages, social events, friends, outreach strategies, you name it...) Any activity that gets you into CONVERSATIONS with people... Because in 100% of cases, conversations are what will lead to sales. And sales are what allow you to validate your product and idea - a critical stage in growing a business. Before you go mass market, you must know WHO you are speaking to, what they need and ultimately what they are going to buy. And what better way to do this than by getting real life evidence and experience by first selling your product and second, working intimately with those people who bought it. If your business is below $5-10k/month (Warrior stage) - you’ve gotta ensure you’re putting food on the table, and so hunting will be your primary activity (and the first thing that goes on your hitlist each day).

Planting

Any activity that is likely to produce results for you in the mid-term (Think inside the next 2-4 months) - The reason humans switched from being hunter gatherers to farmers is simply because of leverage. At a certain point running around talking to prospects is not going to be an efficient use of your time. Once you have proof of concept - you know your product works and people want to buy it - it’s time to build the assets and machine to get that message out to thousands. Welcome to leverage, welcome to higher levels of power, profits and responsibility. If your business is between $10-50k/month (The Chief stage) - You’ll begin your day by planting seeds, so you can reap the harvest later.

Sustaining

Just like a flourishing farm needs upkeep to sustain itself, your business does too. Building systems, optimising, delegating and building a well oiled machine is a fine art and a science. Do this well, and you’ll win back all of your time. Fail to do it, and you’ll forever meet the dragon of chaos as you step into the office each day. Sustaining activities might be tightening up your email sequence, improving your product, even working on your branding or website... In the long run these activities help everything run smoothly; but if you’re in the early phases of growth, they’re frankly a waste of time.

Legacy-making

My favourite part. Once you’ve attained a level of mastery and consistent income business (provided you’ve freed up your time using systems, automation & delegation) - Now you get to enjoy the work of the King (Welcome to Phase 3). Think about your mission and vision; what am I trying to change in this world? What life and message do I want to leave behind for my kids? Activities here might be investing for wealth preservation, or writing a book with a powerful idea that can carry on long after you’re gone.

Doing the ‘right’ thing each day will get you incredibly far in business. But doing the ‘right’ thing efficiently, effectively, and with the utmost quality, is another story all together. Take 2 warriors who enter into battle as an example. . . One trained night and day for years for this fight and came rested, energised and prepared for battle carrying a sword in his hand. The other, who can’t run a mile, spent the days prior to this fight eating junk food every day, going to bed at 3am and showed up to fight with nothing but his bare hands... Not really a fair contest is it? Nope, and interestingly, business isn’t much different than this. Because the masses of the population approach their lives and treat their 4 bodies just like that lazy man; They don’t train, they don’t sleep well enough, they’re completely addicted to quick dopamine hits and so get distracted every 5 minutes, their emotional health is in turmoil, their mind never stops racing and the list goes on and on and on... When you master the 4 areas of life, and when you care for your 4 bodies well, then you’re showing up just like that first warrior, and not only are you going to win the fight, but you’ll conquer the mountain that stands before you in a fraction of the time it takes everyone else.

Before I do a single thing each morning I do 30 minutes of breathwork and 30 minutes of emotional release work, and often a 5 minute cold shower. Every single evening I do yoga for 40 minutes. And I never fill my mind with the toxic drama that gets dripped out on repeat by modern media (and social media too). I treat my mind like a garden, and as cheesy as it sounds, my body like a temple.

Well, I’d get burned out pretty quickly too.

But I’m very cautious where I put my centre of focus, and if I do so happen to get wrapped up in some energy draining activity or drama with some person, I make sure any energetic debt is quickly counterbalanced with doing something healthy, fun or by quickly processing any emotion that comes as a byproduct of letting myself slip. This is the game of energy, master it, and the life you seek, will start seeking you.

That’s why as I’ve moved progressively up the entrepreneurial ladder, I’ve either hacked away, delegated or automated everything I hate doing (Use The Chopping Block exercise for this). Now, because I spend my days being creative, I love the work I do and rarely find myself feeling drained! Sure there are some things that still take away my energy, and of course you never know what life is going to throw at you.

Grief and Letting Go of The Old This journal wouldn’t be complete without saying a few words on the most faithful ally I’ve ever come to know Grief. For the duration of my teen and adult life, I allowed myself to cry no more than 5 or 6 times…Little did I know about the ocean of tears that were there all along, waiting for me to get present enough to allow them to flow. When I was 9 years old, my father left home to start another family. The beautiful bond we had shared when I was a kid, never did return…While our relationship divulged into a multi decade long battle. What I didn’t know was that beneath all that fight, there was a deeply broken heart.

And when I finally allowed myself to feel it, it pulled deep into the ground, and deeper still into myself. After hundreds of hours now of allowing my grief to show me what it wants to say, what it wants me to see, and most importantly, what it wants me to feel - I have come to love this energy, for it was this above anything else, that brought me back home to the love within my heart.

Grieving the loss of your parents, and grieving for yourself, after all the pain you went through, is an integral part of becoming a whole, autonomous adult standing on your own two feet. It is through this process of feeling all you needed to feel, that you bring back home all the parts of yourself that you left on the battlefield. For it was simply too much for you to handle at the time… Grief allows us to let go - it allows what is old to finally die… And the beautiful thing about death - it’s the very thing that gives rise to life… And so by the letting go of the old, you finally make space for something new to grow.

When you allow yourself to grieve fully, every part of your calcified chest begins to open up. And when the rigidity finally loosens, that is when you can finally let go. I let go of clinging onto the old relationship I had with my father, for that was done long ago…It was the refusal to accept it, which had created so much suffering… I let go of clinging to my mother, and needing her to feel love, safety and wholeness. Although she’s still here with us, aged 72, I have now grieved her death more times than I can count… While that might seem strange to some, for me, that was what I needed to do to let her go.

Grief and Letting Go of The Old It’s hard to describe the depth of this work and how much space and possibility it created in my life. Today I feel my father’s (and grandfather’s) love now within my heart. I feel their presence behind me, cheering me on and urging me forwards with profound love and care. And so instead of operating in the world trying to “win” my fathers approval, I can now do the important work I came to do - with a clear path in front of me… My great friend and mentor Jesse puts it beautifully; “Your Grief work has parents belong behind you, not on top of pro foundly affected your workbench”. my relationships too Because the only way I knew love before it was through my mother Consequently, for most of my intimate relationships up until this point; I “outsourced” my love to another. And if this were to go on, I’d forever have an overwhelming “need” in relationship that is simply an impossible hole for another person to fill.

what we must… My invitation to you would be to get to know your grief, befriend it, for it holds the keys to the deepest reservoirs of your heart and all the light that comes forth from it. You need your heart, and so you need your grief, and now more than ever, the world needs it too. Thank you for going on this journey with me, it’s been a pleasure and an honour sharing this message with you.

Today, instead of needing ‘the feminine’ to experience love…love flows freely, except now it’s sourced from deep within…and so too flows outward generously… And it’s all thanks to the work I’ve done with grief. In summary; the path to healthy, loving relationships, as well as the path to creative, authentic and fulfilling work, is once again, the path of becoming a free, sovereign adult. If you can do that - well, then you truly get to create your life anew; new relationships, new family, new art, new love, and new hope for us all. This I believe is the message of grief, it’s the ‘deity’ that helps us accept what is and let go of
