About the Authors Vincent (Vinnie) Bradford is a faculty member in the Kinesiology Department at the University of Texas at Austin, where she has been teaching fencing classes for 9 years. She coaches competitive fencers at the Texas Fencing Academy, where she is the head coach . Vinnie has been a staff member of the USFA Coaches College Program since 1988 and is currently the Assistant Director. She had a long and successful competitive career, both in foil and epee. In 1984 she was the United States National Champion in both women's foil and women's epee. All told, she won four U.S. National Epee Championships. She has been a member of numerous U.S. international fencing teams including the 1979 and 1983 Pan Am Teams and the 1984 Olympic Team in women's foil; and the 1987 Pan Am Team in womens epee. Darrell Williams is Associate Professor of Kinesiology at the University of Texas at Austin, where for 27 years he has taught activity and academic classes and studied the acquisition of skills by persons of normal talent, that is, the physical education approach. In his youth he competed in gymnastics. Darrell competed in fencing in his middle years in the South Texas Division of the USFA, has taught beginning fencing for 25 years at UT Austin, and for many years coached USFA competitors in university and community clubs.
