THE PROBLEM AND DEFINITIONS OF TERMS USED Many c o m m u n itie s a r e s e e k i n g t o u s e t h e s c h o o l r e c r e a ­ t i o n a l f a c i l i t i e s f o r b o t h t h e s c h o o l a n d t h e community a c t i v i ­ t y program s.

As a r e s u l t , t h e y o f t e n f i n d t h a t t h e s c h o o l

p la y g ro u n d -is too sm all or oth erw ise in a d eq u ate to p erm it s u c h an a r r a n g e m e n t .

In order to c o rre c t t h i s d i f f i c u l t y , i t

i s n e c e s s a r y f o r t h e r e s p o n s i b l e p e r s o n s t o be a c q u a i n t e d w i t h t h e s t a n d a r d s s e t up by l e a d i n g e d u c a t o r s a n d r e c r e a t i o n a l experts.

I n r e c e n t y e a r s , many s c h o o l s i n d e p e n d e n t o f t h e com­ m u n i t y r e c r e a t i o n a l p r o g r a m have f o u n d t h a t t h e i r p l a y f a c i l i ­ t i e s w ere n o t s u f f i c i e n t t o m eet t h e n e e d s of t h e i n c r e a s e d en rollm ent.
