lately. Which is their business, and all right by me, but I do object to them rolling over an Army truck in the process. The dopes I con live without, but the truck cost me taxes.

I hear of this happening every so often, and the silly thing is that the survivors, if any, always come back c;ussin' about the trucks not being safe. Claim they're tQP heavy,

unstable and down-right deadly. But when the occident is investigated, it always turns out that the driver was trying to wind his truck around some tight curve at high speed just like it was the family jalopy. Now dagnabbit, a G.I. truck is not a family jalopy. It's a cargo-carrying machine, designed and built to take 2% tons of freight wherever you need it, without waiting for a nice smooth road to be built first. Which means that your M34 truck has three times the ground clearance of your family car. And it is also three feet higher. Then too, you start putting your load in , on the M35, at a level that is just one foot below the roof of your ~- " ~~iliiilil\iil and pile stuff in anywhere up to four feet more. Fair go, now, is it any wonder that it's a little easier to turn the truck over? But on the other hand, did you ever try to drive your family crate through ten inches of mud? Or across a twofoot ditch? The design people built that truck to do a difficult job, and it will. O 'course, if you insist on drj.~ing it like a booby, it will trap you. But don't hobble in· here on your crutches and cry on my shoulder_~ w-

I figure it's iust as important for a driver to know what his truck can't do as to know what it can , and the boys take their corners easy like.
