This book meets the requirements of B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), B.Sc. (Pharmacy), B.Tech. (Biotechnology), MBBS, B.Sc. (Agr.) and M.Sc. courses having practical biochemistry module. Beedu Sashidhar Rao received his Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Hyderabad in 1981 and Ph.D. from Osmania University, Hyderabad, pursuing doctoral research work at the National Institute of Nutrition, in 1987. He joined the Department of Biochemistry, Osmania University, as a faculty member in 1988. Presently, he is working as an Associate Professor in Biochemistry. During 2002-04, he also served as the Coordinator & Chairman, BOS, of the Forensic Science Unit of the department. He is actively engaged in research and teaching postgraduate students over the past sixteen years. His research interests are in the areas of Food toxicology (Mycotoxins, Alkaloids and Pesticides), Biomarkers and Immunodiagnostics. He has authored several research papers, published in both national and international journals.

Beedu Sashidhar Rao Vijay Deshpande

Vijay Deshpande obtained his Master’s and doctoral degrees in Biochemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He joined the Department of Biochemistry in 1984 as an Assistant Professor and became Professor in 1998. He also served as Head (1999-2001) and Chairman (2001-2003), BOS in Biochemistry, Department of Biochemistry, Osmania University. In addition to teaching, Prof. Deshpande has thirty years of research experience in the area of protein chemistry (growth hormone, prolactin, thyroglobulin of mammalian origin and ferritins of animal and plant origin). Several research papers authored by him have been published in both national and international journals.

The experimental format includes theoretical considerations, methodological aspects and their applications in practical exercises.
