The QibaoVanke Shopping Center in Shanghai occupies a very special location. Geographically, it is located in Greater Hongqiao District that represents a key area in today’s urban development in Shanghai. In terms of the historical value, the project is located in an area with rich historical and cultural sediments. The ancient Qibao Town has a history of over 1,000 years and it was the birthplace and origin of Shanghai City. We are expected to reveal such unique trait in spatial design.

上海七宝万科购物中心的位置非常特别。从区位上看，它位于大虹桥地区，是现今上海城 市发展的重点地区。从时间轴上看，它位于一个富含历史文化沉淀的地区，七宝老镇有着 千年的历史，记录着上海这个城市的起源。这个特殊性我们希望在空间的设计上得以体 现。

A shopping center is deemed as an important public space in a city as it not only meets the demands of commercial operations but also satisfies the requirements on public space by urban dwellers. Qibao is a district mostly for residential use where public facilities are rather scarce. Therefore, Vanke Plaza will become an important venue for recreation and gathering for families in Qibao and its surrounding.

购物中心是城市重要的公共空间。它不但要满足商业运营的需求，同时要满足城市人对公 共空间的需求。七宝所在区域主要是功能相对单一的居住区，城市公共设施相对缺乏。万 科广场将成为七宝和周边区域居住的家庭的重要休闲聚会场所。

At the same time, the project, as a benchmarking product of Vanke’s plaza series, should reflect the spirit of Vanke. Speaking of the Vanke spirit, it consists of three main aspects, i.e. community building, respect for ecology and value for life and health. Such three aspects will be embodied in three major public spaces. The atrium adjacent to the northeast entrance is named as Community Plaza, which is a large oval square that is 30m by 50m. From 2/F to 5/F, some spaces are in multi-floor height, creating elegant arc lines similar to a theater. They are also places where people can take a rest or enjoy the views in the distance. Here, people will get an unobstructed full view of Community Plaza and on-going performance on G/F. Hence, it is called Urban Theater. Eco Plaza is near the main entrance. Stepping into the main entrance, one is embraced by a cool and calm world free of city chaos. The natural materials and colors will help slow you down while the diverse shopping space design will arouse people’s interest to further explore the unknown ahead. The atrium space near the southwest entrance is called Active Park in which the houses in the two “trees” will become the focus. These spatial structures with unique shapes will make people curious and encourage them to find out what is above. The Active Park is closely related to sports in terms of both leasing concept and spatial setting. The theme centering on activeness and children is the main reason why people are happy to come.

七宝万科广场同时是万科广场系列重要的标杆产品，它还应该体现万科精神。万科精神的 三个重要方面，即社区建设，对生态的尊重以及对生命和健康的重视体现在三个重要的公 共空间上。靠近东北入口的中庭名为Community Plaza，社区广场。这是一个３０米Ｘ５ ０米的巨大的椭圆形广场。二楼到五楼局部挑台，形成近似于剧场的优雅的弧线，这也是 人们可以休憩或凭栏远眺的场所，社区广场的全貌以及一楼的表演一览无余。这个区域被 称为Urban Theater，城市剧场。靠近主入口的是ECO Plaza生态广场。一走进主入口， 仿佛走入了一个远离嘈杂城市的清凉世界。自然的材质和色彩将减缓人们匆忙的脚步，与 众不同的购物空间设计同时引起人们的进一步向前探索的兴趣。靠近西南入口的中庭空间 名为Active Park　活力公园。这里空间的焦点是在中庭两棵“树“上的树屋。这几个造 型独特的空间构筑物将会引起人们的好奇，向上探索。活力公园无论从业态设置上还是空 间上都紧扣运动，活力和儿童的主题，形成人们乐于来到这里的一个重要原因。

As for the design of the building appearance, this shopping center has combined both the past and the future. The concept of seven jewel boxes is applied in secondary façade near the ancient Qibao Town and interior design. The subtle and wonderful gloss given out by the seven dazzling boxes are visible form both Community Plaza and Active Park. The primary facade near Qishen Road and Caobao Road explains the concept of Gate in a modern design approach as a colorful metal volume is placed on top of two stone building volumes to create a natural entrance. This colorful metal volume is extended into the indoor through the glazed curtain wall of the main entrance, introducing people’s sightline from the outdoor into the indoor. It emits charming gloss at night and people will be attracted to it even from a great distance.. B1 is connected to two metro lines. The Food Market located in B1 is highly accessible through the great terrace of the sunken square in front of the main entrance. At the same time, the sunken square is a place that people are happy to visit. The viewing deck that looks like a tree house is designed on roof and is accessible by elevator. From this deck, people can closely enjoy the aeroplanes landing at Hongqiao Airport. With the APP of the shopping center, people can even learn about the model of the plane that is flying pass and its stories. The shopping center is targeted mainly for families. Therefore, it strives to create a quality in spatial design that helps attract and keep visitors. The theme of the center is treasure hunting, which is intriguing and challenging to both children and mid-aged and young couples. The central square of the shopping center is named as Legend Plaza, where all design elements congregate. The seven auspicious clouds hung below the roof in the atrium show the patterns of the seven jewel boxes, coloring the sunlight and lamplight and projecting them to the different places of the atrium. At different moments of a day, the atrium presents various expressions and stories to its visitors. The 2/F and 3/F above the entrance of Qibao Old Street are combined to form an interesting space for children. The rainbow staircase connecting the two floors will give out sounds like piano keys when a person steps on it. Children can also slip down from above through the slide. This zone not only combines the ladies fashion on 2/F and the children’s activity space on 3/F, but also creates a place for children to have fun and adults to rest with the children’s workshop area and the resting area near the staircase and the slide. The ultimate design objective of the shopping center is to create a family-oriented shopping center. It shows respect for the local cultural heritage and caters the needs of modern living. It integrates ecological technology with the concept. It also embodies the spirit of Vanke and tells its own stories. It is indeed a novel and popular place for nearby residents to visit and stay.

从建筑外观设计上，这个购物中心结合了历史与未来。靠近七宝老镇的次立面作了７个盒 子，将七个宝盒的概念运用到外观上。这七个宝盒的概念同时也用到了建筑的室内。在社 区广场和活力公园都能看到七个璀璨的宝盒散发着幽静而美妙的光泽。靠近七莘路和曹宝 路的主立面以现代的设计手法诠释了Ｇａｔｅ的概念。一个彩色金属的体量架在两个以石 材为主的建筑体量上，形成了一个天然的入口。这个彩色金属的体量穿过主入口的玻璃幕 墙延展到室内，将人们的视线也由室外引入室内。晚上它在灯光下散发着迷人的光泽，从 很远的地方就能看到它的召唤。

地下一层与两条地铁线相连，同时可以通过主入口前的下沉庭院的大台阶很容易地到达地 下一层的Food Market美食集市。下沉广场也将成为人们乐于经过和到达的地方。屋顶设 置了一个形状如树屋的观景平台，可以通过电梯到达。这个平台可以近距离观看将要降落 虹桥机场的飞机。购物中心的APP上还可以查到正在飞过的飞机的机型和关于这个飞机的 故事。

这个购物中心的主要客户群是家庭。它在空间设计上力图体现让人觉得亲近的乐于停留的 气质。购物中心的主题为Treasurehunting寻宝。这个主题无论对于中年或年轻夫妇，还 是孩子来说都是充满好奇和挑战的。购物中心的中心广场名为Legend Plaza传奇广场，它 汇集了所有的设计元素，中庭悬吊下来的七朵祥云分别采用了七个宝盒的图案，它们将阳 光和夜晚的灯光赋予了不同的色彩并投射在中庭的不同部位。随着时间的转移，这个中庭 演绎着不同的表情和故事。在七宝老街入口之上的二层和三层被打通形成了一个有趣的儿 童活动区。连接二层和三层的彩虹楼梯当人踏上后会发出钢琴琴键发出的声音，孩子们也 可以选择捷径通过滑梯下来。这个区域不但将二楼的女性时尚与三楼的儿童在业态上结 合，同时可以结合楼梯和滑梯周围的休息区和儿童workshop区形成孩子玩耍，大人休憩的 地点。

这个购物中心的最终设计目标，是要创造一个尊重地域文脉，迎合现代生活诉求，结合生 态技术和理念，体现万科精神，有故事，有新意，周边的居民乐于前来、乐于停留的，对 城市有贡献的家庭型购物中心。 Design description xxxx

Community area 社区广场 The Community Area is conceived of as a highly active collection of linked social spaces attracting Visitors of all ages and group sizes. Functional lighting is made from “Blades of light”. These are surface mounted large format LED fittings that project from the surfaces. They are curved following the contours of the walls and the voids in the centre. •

Fills in the gaps between areas, joins these together

•

Supplies base lighting level for safety and visibility

•

Good CRI (85+) in neutral colour (3000K) in centre of mall

•

Light level is 200 Lux in centre of mall rising to 400 Lux by shops

Fittings project from the surface to throw light evenly across pedestrian walkways. The custom made products are designed to suit the exact requirements of the centre. LED is main light source. The linear fittings are made up of high output tape mounted inside extruded aluminium housing with frosted acrylic lines.

Individual solutions to individual areas Each of the 5 individual areas will also have an individual lighting solution. This dedicated lighting solution will enhance and accentuate the particular features of each specific area. This approach will help creating a mood correspondent to every area, creating a unique atmosphere.

The proposed lighting solution will ensure the appropriate lighting levels for safe movement provided by a common integrated system. This lighting is all about the effect to enhance the features

A series of specific lighting solution dedicated to the architecture. A general ambiance light provided by downlights at the building surrounding to provide useful light for safety

2)

Individual focus and features for each area, to enhance and define the identity of each individual area:
