In her pain*ngs, Becky Soria approaches the human figure less from its familiar shapes, and much more from within, making visible the figure’s visceral emo*onal life. Abstrac*ng language, color, and texture allows her to capture the profound sen*ments that humans have felt throughout the ages for the Earth as Goddess and Mother. Soria explores the historically evolving woman. “Within the quietude of my studio, and while the pandemic ravaged the world, I let my sensa*ons, feelings, visions, and thoughts of what we were experiencing further my inves*ga*on of the human body and its inner reality.” recounts Soria. Her collec*on of images flows from the stark percep*ons of the difficult *mes we are living in. They juxtapose the fragility and strength of the human spirit. “These images are at once representa*ons of personal and universal images engendered by my muse, the mysterious source of crea*on,” says Soria. “The medita*ve journey that walked me through the real and illusory percep*ons of the body and its ability to heal brought to life this exhibi*on of twenty-four works.” Becky Soria, an American born in Bolivia, began her ar*s*c career in the 1980s. She studied pain*ng in the studios of South American ar*sts, and with the ar*st and philosopher Dr. Fernando Casas. She also aUended The Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas. Her works are included in corporate and private collec*ons in the US, Europe, Canada, and South America.
